Namely the Potion of Everlasting, Boots of Stomping and the Gemjump spell. It simply moves them from their random and arcane current locations into places you are more likely to come across. 
Unfortunately, I have been unable to move GemJump successfully, so it isn't currently in the mod. However, I have included a MYSTERY item, which is (I think) the only balanced one.
