To use the guide, you need to first install the mega-mod package to ensure that the relevant quests and related FAQs are available to you in the game. As this guide is made with the assumption that you are familiar with the original Baldur Gate game, I'll skip the trivialities and plunge straight into the game. I am not affiliated with Bioware, Interplay, or anyone who had anything to do with the creation of this game or the mods. This FAQ looks best in Courier New at about 9 points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location Legends: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [**] - Second visit [***] - Third visit [****] - Fourth visit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Table of Contents: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walkthrough 1. THE JOURNEY CONTINUES =============================================================================== Baldur's Gate Mega-Mod Walkthrough =============================================================================== This is a simple walkthrough that is based on the order of the locations that I visited with a newly created archer character - Haltorn. Each location generally has five sub-sections of descriptions: (a) Joinable NPCs - Characters that can join your party (b) Monsters - Monsters that I encountered at the location (c) Treasures - Nice magical items found in containers / hidden spots (d) Assassination - Places where bounty hunters tried to claim me However, I found that the assassination attempts seemed to be quite random, so they may not occur at the same places for you. (d) Major Plots - Major quests that would affect the main storyline (e) Minor Plots - Side-quests for fun, exp and rewards. How to read locations: In the guide, locations denoted by a tersed format (300.500) which simply mean x=300, y=500. Hence, Winthrop: Candlekeep Inn (660.400), Candlekeep (200.400) would mean that Winthrop is found at x 660 y 400 in Candlekeep Inn, and Candlekeep Inn itself is at x 200 y 400 in Candlekeep map. In cases like "Shank: Priest's Quarters, Candlekeep (3000.420)", the Priest Quarters is so small that I decided not to include Shank's location in it. But instead, only the location of the Priest Quarters in Candlekeep is shown. In cases of multi-storey areas like the Nashkel Mines, only the last location and the map location is shown eg. 3rd lvl Nashkel Mines (400.500), Nashkel Mines (300.700). There should be other indications of how to get to the 3rd level. For purposes of this guide, my character had 18 charisma & 18 intelligence, and usually takes the good-alignment path to complete quests. Also, remember that your BG1 game is now being played with BG2's engine, thus use your TAB key often to highlight hidden containers and doors in the map. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Candlekeep (AR0015) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joinable NPCs: None Monsters: Rats Treasures: None Assassinations: - In Priest's Quarters, Candlekeep (3000.420) -- Shank 15xp - In Bunkhouse, Candlekeep (2050.2650) -- Carbos 15xp Major Plots: - Once you complete all the other quests, just talk to Gorion to leave. Location: Lion's Way (4580.2700) - Montaron 16 17 15 12 13 9 Halfling Fighter/Thief N.Evil Montaron is Xzar's travelling companion. He's not half as noisy as Xzar but he's kind of a dumb sort. Seems like the coast is no longer safe. Perhaps, we can help. Caravan: The Crossroads (2300.3350) Minor Plots: - The Ogre's Belts There's an ogre who has a belt fetish. He's quite tough for a starting group, but should be do-able. Take him down for 200xp and collect the Girdle of Piercing & the cursed Girdle of Gender. Location: Level 1 FAInn (310.710), Friendly Arm Inn (3500.1900) - Khalid 15 16 17 12 10 9 Half-Elf Fighter N.Good Khalid is a seriously wimpy fighter who stammers a lot, even though he's a good person. Jenkal's House: Gullykin (200.900) - Investigate the kobold threat Talk to Gandolar for the second time, and he will tell you that kobolds have infested the ruins in the winery. You can do this in two ways. The first approach is to go to the ruins via the winery of the Ogre Mage in the ruins. The second approach is to find Jenkal in his own house. Suspect him of smuggling kobolds and he attacks you. So kill him for 485xp. Next, a hidden door appears which will take you directly to the Ogre Mage in the ruins. In both cases, just kill the Ogre Mage in the Firewine Ruins and clear out the kobolds. Return to Gandolar for your reward of 250gp. He attacks you, but you kill him instead. Pick up the armor from his bones and also a cursed Backbiter +3. Soon you'll meet Ghost Knights who want the armor from their treacherous brother (this is probably the tale that Poe the Poet was talking about before on the Firewine Bridge). Two ways you can finish this. One, give him the armor for 1500xp. Two, refuse to give him the armor -- The Ghost of Ulcaster will give you the Vampiric Sword, in exchange for the Idol from the Archeological Site, as well as the Ancient Armor from the Firewine Ruins. With the Vampiric sword, you can free Torqion from his suffering in the cave located near the Temple of Lathander. Ogre Mage: Firewine Ruins (600.250) Gandolar: Gullykin (720.1210) - Lendarn the Mage He moves around a bit, but I found him near the Ogre Mage. Poor guy, let him finish the sculpture and promise to protect him against the bounty hunter, Greywolf. When Greywolf arrives, try to persuade him to let Prism finish his work. But the bounty hunter refuses, so just kill him for 1050xp and a Long Sword +2. When Prism finally finishes the sculpture he dies (probably because he overworked himself). Catching you off- guard, he summons monsters to attack you. Take down his minions, and kill Mulahey for 560xp, Gauntlets of the Faithful Warrior, Ring of Holiness, Boots of Grounding and Mace +1. Also, pick up the Mulahey's Holy Symbol which you need to complete the quest. Go over to Mulahey's chest, and pick up the documents and minor treasures. From the documents, it seems that Mulahey is falling out of favor from Tazok, and Tranzig is the new contact in Beregost (perhaps we should visit Tranzig).
