Sure. Might just have been something I did wrong (entirely possible as I am bad at WeiDU) but the file we are looking at is 210_v4_ppd_variety.tph at the very end.

Compare with this one, which as far as I can tell should do exactly the same, but actually works:

In the meantime, here's another weird thing that happened to me:
Jondalar (the guy in Candlekeep that teaches you about combat) killed my character!

I'm pretty sure his quarterstaff is not supposed to deal any damage, so I'm wondering if there's a chance 204 (Colourable Quarterstaves) might be the culprit?
(the archer in the same encounter still deals the proper 0 damage per hit, which is why I'm suspicious of this component)


I can't see anything that would patch the damage.

However, from what I can see the weapon he has equipped (staf04) hits and acts like a regular staff in BG2 whereas it has zero damage in BG1/Tutu and is undroppable. In my Tutu install the file seems correct as per BG1, but that might have something to do with the issue.

Trying out RC4, on EasyTutu and having an issue:
No configuration leaves the shield icons in the inventory/paperdoll in BG2 style. Whatever I do, I get the BG1 look.

I would assume that 1ppv4-Baldur's Gate II style [default] should work, as per the readme images, but no dice.

Only have the Unfinished Business and the BG1NPC mods installed beforehand.

Am I missing something?


Simple answer: shield choices currently do not affect Tutu as it does not use BG2 shields.

I could add in an option to do that.

If you went with the default, you will be able to find BG1 style shields throughout SoA (the BG2 variants are just more common). The gems thing is currently part of the main v4 update, so not easily separated. You could delete all the misc**.itm files from your override which should bring them back to vanilla in the interim.

I will make it an option for the future.

Got sidetracked while working on the shields and finally figured out how the ingame colour pickers work (which makes me happy as it's been bugging me for some time). So there will be this as well next update (ToB installs only):

^ the way I've implemented the extended clothing colours is you will get the standard set of 34 at character creation and from your inventory; if you want to access the 'extras' you can do so from the 'customise' dialog in your character sheet.

No more having to edit your characters with NI :)

(unless of course the colour you want is not on there)

Here we go :)

Updates include the BG1 medium shields, the aforementioned improved colour choices and various fixes from the last couple of pages of this thread. It also includes six additional pixels on non-magical arrow inventory icons! As always, let me know if anything is weird (that isn't me).

Congratulations on RC5!

Mandark raises an issue that niggles at me, and maybe unnecessarily so. The item details often include sketches of items that don't match the item icon- assuming there is a suitable item sketch for each icon, is this something you plan on updating Erephine?


Depending on your install options, carried images (the ones in the item description) are not always optimal. It's an issue I am aware of, and sadly was present to a noticeable degree in the original games, so definitely in my sights to maybe fix.

I can sketch new carried images but the limiting factor (for the time being) is time.

Ah, was wondering whether I had got around to uploading the updated installer for that one.

Will do it as soon as SHS uploads get fixed (to save K'ae some grief) as it's a known issue and not really harming anything.

Sorry to bother you, but I'm having a problem getting RC5 to install on IWD1. This is what I've installed so far:

And now I'm trying to apply RC5 to the game, but A) I'm getting options that aren't even listed in the readme, and appear to be from the old version (referencing a directory structure that isn't present in the current 1pp folder) and B) almost nothing installs correctly. I completely deleted my old 1pp folder and .debug / setup file prior to copying over the RC5 assets.

Any idea what is going on?


Make sure to delete 1pp.tp2 from your IWD directory.

Heya, been trying to install Separate Female Dwarves component on IWD1 + HoW + TotL (1.4.2), but I always get this error :(

The only thing I installed before were your 1pp IWD Fixes.


Did you install the component restoring BG1 character animations?

If so, that is the problem (trying to patch BG2 animations when you're using those from BG1).

Looking at the readme... my god. the improved alpha blending is amazing. the spell effects look like they came from a modern game! Please, don't take the following questions the wrong way though, I'm just a tweaker and am curious about several things:

  • When installing your UI updates, are the font modifications (uppercase -> lower, size, coloring, etc) handled independently in the weidu script? i.e., could I comment out the changes to the font while using the rest of your graphic UI adjustments
  • I'm a little confused about the shields. Is it possible to select new shield animations, a mix of BG1 and BG2 shields without the new 'smooth' shields you've drawn (i.e. the kite-like shields)?
  • The spell scroll standarization- I understand the icon reflectivity / luminescence changes, but why standardize the scroll orientation itself? Same for weapon icon orientation (all swords now NW-SE facing).
Thanks again for this, I can't wait to see it implemented in BGEE. Are you at liberty to say which components will be integrated?

  • No need to comment out anything, when installing you will be prompted whether to
    a) install font updates at all (heading font/updated stone font to better match the interface
    b) install the mixed case stone font replacing some of the original all-caps stone font
    You can simply say 'no' to any of these if you prefer.
  • No, you can't customise on a shield by shield basis. Your options are either BGII style shields, BGI style shields, or 1pp shields (mixed depending on whether additional shield animations are installed or not). If you don't like the new shield animations, not installing that component might work?
  • Because that was how it's always been in Baldur's Gate, until ToB came along. For the spells, I don't know. Looked odd to me to have all BGII ones flipped left compared to the BGI ones. It does not match with the perspective in other items, either.

Seems like a bug. I test in 800x600, so it's entirely possible I broke other resolutions at some point without noticing. Will check (& fix) :)


Yes. 'twas a typo (70 rather than 700 for one position). Try if putting this in your override fixes it

187,447 KB of package ... dunnow ... still same issue here ... :( (no readme error by the way now).


Using my jedi mind powers I would suggest you have an old copy of 1pp (2.7 perhaps) in your game directory you haven't removed.

No it is not .. i don't have a clue what it could be honestly ... I don't see any other mod patching the .exe :(

put this in 1pp/install replacing the file there and it should give you some debug information when trying to install (namely, which offsets fail). If you could paste your results here, that would be great.

Would that be "Solars & Elementals" component, and something else? This component also fails to install.


Yes. Pretty much any engine patch that was added has no support for OSX.

The Softer Spell Effects component fails to install due to errors under Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a PPC G4 Mac. Also, either this mod or W_GUI is changing the object labels (the scroll that opens on mouseover) to something that's difficult to read. I'll try installing again soon to determine which of these two mods changes the labels in this way.


300 and 401 will also fail. I have no OSX install to port/develop/test engine patches on.

I don't touch tooltips so definitely an issue with that mod.

I wonder if this brillian idea will be continued? I wish to see web spell version from icewind dale. Is it possible to make it?

I wish I was kidding when I say adequate documentation has been one of the main factors holding this back for... a long time.


It doesn't get installed on a plain bgt game unfortunately.

Also it doesn't find the readme at the very begin of the install ...


Seems like something is wrong on your end if it can't find the readme. Are you sure you extracted everything correctly?
