BiG World Installpack read me ENGLISH Copy the content of the BiG World Installpack into your BGII - SoA directory. You also need the BiG World Fixpack in order to run this tool. NOTE: ----- It is important that your folder is named just as created by your game - that is BGII - SoA for the English installation. A few mods (especially those that patch the BGMain.exe) expect exact this name or the installation will fail! BiG World Install.bat --------------------- This tool is making the job for you! Just start the BiG World Install.bat and watch! This tool works currently for the English, German and Spanish language and also for the Standard, Tactic and Expert version. You are prompted to make your selection at the beginning. How the BiG World Install vX.bat works -------------------------------------- After several checks you can choose the version that will be installed. You can select between your language (English / German / Spanish) and the version (Standard / Tactic / Expert). Depending on this selection the installer will read the regarding lines. Next all mods existing in the BGII - SoA directory are listed for control. Then the BiG World Fixpack, the BiG World Smoothpack (disables the pop-ups from several mods) and (for the German language) the BiG World Textpack will be installed. WeiDU will be updated to its newest version, missing setups will be added and some file names corrected. After that the entire BiG World Megamod will be installed according to the BiG World Project Guide. Once started, you may not interrupt the procedure or it will probably fail! At the beginning you must make several settings. Then the Install.bat will run until end without any stops. If you make a full install this will last about ten hours even on a fast 2.6 GHz computer! Best you run the tool over night. During the installation a file "BiG World Debug.txt" will be created. If you want to do any changes to the installation, you must edit this file before. Read here how to edit this batch file: How to edit the install.bat? ---------------------------- It is very simple. Open the BiG World Install vX.bat with text editor (notepad) and srcoll down to the installation part in the middle of the file. Now you see a lot of text lines like this: Call %INST% BDToBv168 "0 2 3 5 6 7" The name of the mod (in that case BaldurDash) is followed by the numbers of the components in quotes. Simply edit the numbers for that component that you want to change. Lines with %IFT% will only be read if you have chosen Tactic before. Lines with %IFX% will only be read if you have chosen Expert before. How to add mods to the install.bat? ----------------------------------- In the Standard version you can add mods marked as Expert just by deleting the X from %IFX%. How to delete mods from the install.bat? ---------------------------------------- In both the Standard as the Expert version you can deselect mods just by typing "rem " before the mod without the quotation marks but with the space. How to delete components from the install.bat? ---------------------------------------------- You must know what signifies each of them. Therefore compare the component numbers with the guide. The numbers are specified in the instructions with the respective components. Just delete the corresponding numbers you don't want to install. The numbers are specified in the instructions with the respective components. you can add other numbers if they are not in the list, but remember they might cause bugs etc. Special cases ------------- "BG1NPC Project", "Gavin" ------------------------- In the BiG World Install vX.bat you will find lines like this: Call %INST% bg1npc "0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9" 1 Call %INST% bg1npc "10" 1 The installer simulates an input "1". For this reason a file named "1" had been created in your main directory. If you want another input instead simply overwrite this number. "Stuff of The Magi", "BG2 Tweaks", "BP_BGT_Worldmap" ---------------------------------------------------- These mods demand additional input during installation of one of their components. The relating inputs are stored in the folder \Big World Smoothpack\_modify. In order to change the presets open the filemodname_input.txt with text editor (notepad) and change the corresponding number. Don't move the files. How to get the right BG1 directory entries ------------------------------------------ The preset BG1 directory is already preset with this line: %IFES%BGT%S%BGT%L%0 --force-install 0 --args-list sp "C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate" | %M% If you had installed BG1 at another place, the easiest way to change this is to copy your actual BG1 path and paste it into the install.bat and then to save the file. Debugging --------- A file "BiG World Debug.txt" will be created during installation. Also you will find the tools change-log.bat and list-components.bat in your BGII - SoA directory.
