Sandrah NPC in BG1 Not a Walkthrough This is not a walkthrough for the mod, as you can play the game with her in many ways and with many different companions added to your party - you will get a different experience every time. This is rather a list of things not to miss in general (other triggers etc will depend on the company you choose along with her but they should be obvious). There are a large number of urther quests or quest extensions not mentioned here as they depend on the additional mods you have installed. The Beginning Start in Candlekeep with a non-evil character, do not use the skip-Candlekeep option even when installed. Talk to Winthrop or one of the watchers to receive a weapon, invest the money to have it identified if you cannot do it yourself. Explore Candlekeep and do the initial scores as you wish. Observe Sandrah and Gorion and see her leave. After the ambush outside Candlekeep, pick up Imoen (she is not necessary to play the Sandrah mod but adds several new quests including a kind of Longer Road to the Claoakwood mines which should be worth trying, also she will have her first romance - not with the PC - and some light is shed on her own relation to the Bhaal story. Having her in the party adds much to the game at least until your revisit of Candlekkep in chapter6). When Sandrah has joined you, continue exploring the initial area, have Haiass come with you. (If you played with him before you will notice that he has some contents added to be better integrated into the game, he is worth keeping throughout the game and will get his own role over time.) Use the PID option with Sandrah often, some quests start or move on after talking to her. The following should be done at some time without any prescribed order (you would normally do them in the main quest anyway) - Talk to the mage at the large waysign - Get the girdle from the ogre in the same area - Explore the outside area of the Friendly Arm Inn - Talk to everyone in the Temple at the Friendly Arm - Talk to Jaheira and Khalid, even if you do not take them along - Visit the second floor of the Inn - Visit the large mansion in Beregost (with Sandrah and Imoen) - Visit ALL inns in Beregost - Visit Firebead in Beregost - Aid Viconia against the Flaming Fist, even if you do not take her along - If Jen'lig is in the party do not miss the cave south of Beregost - Talk to Thalantyr - Talk to the priests in Nashkel and Morning Lord Temple - Talk to all the stargazers you meet on the Sword Coast - Talk to the ghost(s) in the cave near the Morning Lord Temple - Talk to Volo - If Imoen is with you, visit the shop at Nashkel frequently and bring a winter wolf pelt as requested - Rescue the talking chicken - Defeat Bjornim's ogres - Explore the cave in the Xvart village After you revealed Sandrah's heritage the Demonic Scroll quest starts - wait a couple of days for Landrel to notify you of Elminster's firts quest - pick up the quest or have Sandrah do it alone (missing all of it, missing some valuable items, missing a lot of experience, missing the plot for many things happening later) - find the demonic scroll if you not already have found it before - heed Elminster's advice to solve the quest rather by wit than by force, the bad guys may be way too powerful yet for your party and there is always a better solution than force. - Demons always try to trick you, even if you have a deal with them, but knowing this you just trick them better. - Exlore the areas south of Nashkel until you find traces of demonic activities - Rescue Drienne's cat and follow the hints you receive - Chose whatever route you like in the new underground area until you end up with a true or faked demon's heart (you can fight some nasties to get some valuables but you can also sneak through without much fighting, just as you like, also, you can fight to get the heart or cheat the demons, whatever you prefer.) - Once you have the Shard, return it to Elminster - observe him giving a box to Sandrah (as usual PID will offer you options to explore further, also you can ask her about visiting her hometown.) Visiting Waterdeep - Several visits to Waterdeep are foreseen during the game, they are accessible from a new area on your worldmap after you have found the way once. - You will get the necessary hints for access through PID with Sandrah - On the road to Waterdeep observe a bandit attack and talk to the survivor, solve the quest - Move further north to access Waterdeep - Talk to guardian at the gate - Explore the area, note that not all of Waterdeep is accessible (and of interest to you yet), explore the ones mentioned by Sandrah in her introduction to her hometown. - If you have Anomen in the party, meet his mother at one of the temples - Do not forget to pick up your impressive reward from the Temple of Splendor, once you solved the bandit quest - Once you explored the first area, move east to the next - Talk to Clarissa near the bookshop to start another epic quest (the Bookhunter quest is treated separately later), you can visit her afterwards in her shop for shopping. - Visit the Sword Coast's most expensive restaurant - North of Elminster's house is the access to Mystra's Temple, further north is the Fish Market - Visit Mystra's temple and get further clues on the bandid quest (if not yet solved), once you solved it pick up the sick girl's quest from Sandrah's tutor. - Visit the Fish Market area for another quest - Visit the area east of Elminster's house (Western Gate) - most stuff there will happen later - Visit Elminster's house, talk to Landrel, talk to Elminster - Visit the garden to meet Pelligram - you may have seen this area already in some dream before. Also, if you are an experienced player, you will notice the garden to be a lighter version of a ToB area (you will learn later why that is). - Visit Sandrah's quarters, if you wish (oh, yes, you wish...) - Finally, visit Elminster at his study to get further quests started - Leave Waterdeep on the way you came, deal with an old friend before returning to the Friendly Arm Inn. - From now on, Waterdeep should be accessible via your Worldmap Bookhunters - You picked up the book from Clarissa at Waterdeep - You can get the initial information required prior to entering Baldur's Gate, the later chapters of the bookhunt require your access to the town - You will be waylaid a number of times and you and Sandrah will inspect the small book intensively to get some clues. - Get another clue at Lighthouse on the Sword Coast - Talk to the guy at Wyrm's Crossing bridge to get some clues - Talk to the gmone at Ulgoth's Beard for background information. - Talk to the Harbourmaster at BG and to some sailor in the same area - Follow the hint to the Flushing Mermaid and hire the ship (after fulfilling the captain's conditions) - Leave the ship at the island and find the secret following all the hints you have received. - If you have solved Imoen's quest before, you will get further options of what to do with the treasure you find. - Return to the ship, observe the death of your captain, talk to Sandrah, search the inside of the ship and figure out how to return to the mainland. - Meet your oponent and take any option you like with him - Talk to Brage at Nashkel, once you have rescued him - Visit the Morning Lord Temple with any treasure you took along - The next chapter of this saga will await you in SoA, connected to the Shauhana mega-quest there. Return to Legencase - This is the initial sequel to Grey Clan - During the original quest you get several hints of Sandrah's involvement with the Academy. During the final battle you find a magic fibula on one of the students and in the end dialogue in Beregost you receive the option to persue the aggressors further. - Tell Elminster you consider the quest, your various party members will state their opinion about the pros and cons, and when your decision is made, E will transport you to the Academy entrance. - The guardian will summon defensive forces regularly until you defeated him (with ranged weapons only) - Inside four sorceresses await you, each holding some grudge against Sandrah and each guarding a scroll with some details about the Academy's plans. Once you have all the parts fight your way to the next chamber. - Try to convince the head mistress to surrender (in vain), she will call for Xephistagoras' assistance (who will not appear this time - he will appear in a later episode when your party is experienced enough to face him) - When you have injured her enough she will flee to her inner quarters. - Heal yourself and follow her, discover the transport platform for return which will only operate with her blood. so your goal is clear. Once successsful take the evidence of the plot and return to Waterdeep by the platform. - Tergius will reward you but also point out that this was not the last you have seen of Xephistagoras and the Academy (you will have another confrontation during SoA and a massive final battle with him in RtF). The Kidnapping of Henning (Imoen's Big BG1 Quest) - Henning is the Nashkel shopkeeper and admirer of Imoen - After the initial visit bring a winter wolf pelt to the shop to start the quest - Return to the shop some time later to let Imoen pick up a gift from Henning - Revisit the shop after you cleared the Nashkel Mines - Follow Imoen's plea to visit the shop again sometime soon - Note that the Bandit Camp will not become visible after you found the contact person at the Beregost Inn - Revisit Nashkel, the Shop and the mayor to find out what has occured meanwhile. - The initial hint to the Cloakwood is not perfectly correct, move to some out-of-town area to the north of Nashkel to receive another hint of where the orcs have gone - In the south of the Gullykin map find the wounded beekeeper. get his info and reveal the cave in the eastern part of the area. - Clear out the cave and find their leader for further hints. - If you go to the bandit camp directly, Sandrah will counsel against a direct attack and propose an alternative instead. Follow this advice and leave for either Peldvale or Larswood. Find Teven or Raiken and peruade them to recruit you. - Convince Tazok to take you and propose to assist him with his troupe inspection. Once he is dead (there is another revelation for Jen'lig if she is with you) make haste to inspect the bandit camp huts and the cave in the north (but avoid the main tent for now) before Tazok's death is noticed. - When you have learned all you need to know from the wounded orc left behind, either wait for Tazok's death to be noticed or start your own attack on the camp or the main tent, however you like it. - Later, in the Cloakwood find the boy's corpse in the spider lair - Search the huts outside the Cloakwood mines for some scared guards to tell you more about the orcs and their prisoner. - On the Cloakwood mine prison level follow the hints to the orc prison area. - Find the two parted key to go to the lower level, one part with one of the guards on the prison level who sounds the alert and one on the next level along with minor treasury. - Find another orc prisoner who has an interesting story about the background of the kidnapping and the main plot. - With the two parts of the key move on into a heavily trapped and guarded area. - During the battle with the Orcs Imoen will undergo an interesting change but soon recover. The background for it will later be discovered bit by bit. - After the initial battle and after disarming the remaining traps and looting the area, move through the northern locked door and another hidden door to find Henning and his capturer. - When you have freed him and defeated the orcs, Sandrah will temporarily leave you to bring the wounded man to Waterdeep. Make sure you take the purse you find on the orc leader with you, it is evidence you will need later. - Move back to the mine levels and rejoin with sandrah, who tells you that Henning will be well again in a tenday. (You will get a notice about it in time and an option to revisit Waterdeep). - When finished with the mines, you may want to return to Beregost and confront the man who was behind it all. - In Beregost who have the option to either act on your own or to seek the consensus of the local governor at the temple first. In any case you will go to the large mansion findind it guarded by orc forces and some mage. The man you seek will flee upstairs from the battle. Clear out both levels of the house and then interrogate your man. - You will receive a lot of background information for the main plot and also Imoen ends up at the owner of the estate. - Once outside, I moen will reveal her plan with the house she now owns. Go to the temple to have her ownership registered. - When you find the pirate treasure of the Bookhunt quest you will have further options to use it and receive XPs. - Also, if you revisit Beregost and the mansion during your further adventures you will see Imoen's vision in operation. You will get a first glimpse of a possible future party member joinable in RtF after the ToB adventure. - You will find Henning in Waterdeep after Sandrah notifies you then tenday to recover is over.
