#615409 Things that prevent WeiDU successor?

Hey,
 
This is a long overdue post, let's have a loose discussion about this. What do you think are the core bricks that prevent WeiDU successor or alternative?
 
My own would be:
 

- It's too late for a new thing to attract attention, no matter how good it would be.

- It's too much work to learn new, shiny things even just for fun.

- WeiDU interoperability with dialogs added from other mods, you either recreate it or you can forget about adding cross-mod content.

- WeiDU backup system, you either recreate it completely or fail to uninstall/reinstall a mod.

- Lack of accompanying tools that are specifically created for WeiDU.

- Lack of a mod manager that can install WeiDU mods along with mods that are using other 'modding frameworks'.

 

Those are some loose examples from my memory. I'm not sure about the weight of each thing, or how it affects the subject and I would love to hear your thoughts!

Latest SoS release has 'statically compiled' iconv.exe - it doesn't need any additional dll files to work.

 

EDIT: Please note that it was already fixed, the new iconv.exe is just double-safe.

The attempt was made to fix all issues with the potions at the cost of removing portrait change. If there will be a safe and stable way to reintroduce it, it will definitely happen.

Another random fact I came across: Thrown Hammers component Thrown Spiritual Hammers will glitch the Spiritual Hammer spell's damage to 0, if you install it before aTweaks' Change Spiritual Hammer into a ranged force weapon. Make sure that Thrown Hammers component is installed AFTER aTweaks!

Shadows over Soubar has been updated to version 2.0. This major update brings many fixes, improvements and new component: Alternative Soubar area from the "World of Baldur's Gate" modification - designed and modeled by Cuttooth, with effects enrichment and ideas by Dradiel, and integrated into the mod by Roberciiik. Many thanks to Roberciiik and Wegio for their work!

- Some variables were not set as they should be (e.g., use SetGlobal("FinalFight","AR6200",3) instead of SetGlobal("FinalFight","AR6200",2)) in redbodhx.bcs and redgdemx.baf
- Update the cutscene for compatibility with Ascension
- Use COMPILE with the .baf file instead of directly copying the .bcs file
- Use 'ref' when possible in the .baf files
- Update FinalA.d to use resimo3 when Imoen is in the party, instead of resimo1, which is used when she is dead
- Update lr6200jon2.baf to check for demogor3 like other enemies
- Fix some small typos in the cutscene

Changelog:
 
- The mod data folder was renamed from "Edwin" to "EdwinRomance" to match tp2 basename.
- Added Infinity Auto Packager.
 
Note: While the rename was done in the safest manner, please remember to uninstall the old version of the mod, and cleanup the remaining mod files before you extract the new version.

I found a bug in 3.2.6, but can confirm that the bug still exists in 3.2.7 too. In YSLEVON.d, on line 245, there's an extra comma after ysassassincave.

 

In Basimah's dialogue, state 12, she says just "CHARNAME" instead of "<CHARNAME>".

 

Also Gadil's dialogue tree seems entirely broken. Every state is entirely separate and all use the same trigger. I don't think this is how Gadil's dialogue looked last time I played this; he gave me some sort of quest to get the cup, and now I can't get it at all (though I have the cup and he still asks me if I want it).

 

The 'extra comma' and 'CHARNAME' bugs are fixed. Fixing Gadil's dialogue will require helping hand.

Sorry, It was late and I missed the examples from -help. The wiki https://github.com/N...Troubleshooting also contain commandline usage but it's pretty had to find you you are searching 'commandline' there.

Stil, the question remains: Would it be possible to add/select game via commandline?

 

I want to do universal .bat that it will be placed inside game directory and when launched, it would add current game if it wasn't added or select it (matching can be done by current path) if it already was added.

 

I'm creating new game folder for each mod I'm investigating and the process is to tedious.

I don't see any commandline switches when I try to launch NearInfinity.jar. So I have feature request:

 

- ability to add game from commandline

- ability to selecting previously added game from commandline via name

 

Possible?

Thanks for report, the reason was: HANDLE_CHARSETS was executed only on `bgee` and `bg2ee`, missing eet. It's fixed for next version.
