#475522 Character name problems after installing 0.51 *possible early game spo

Posted by shai on 16 January 2010 - 07:10 AM in Classic Adventures

Hi there,

I've been playing CA 0.50a, and ran into a problem with areas greyed out on the World map, eg: Saltmarsh, the swamp and Piney Bluff. I worked around this using the CLUA MoveToArea command, after which the areas worked normally on the World map. I still have a problem with new areas on the map being greyed out: the area where the Skulk's lair is marked by a NPC on my World map greyed out.

The bigger problem is that I've just installed CA 0.51, and had this problem after loading a save game: three of the characters in my party suddenly have different names, their bio's seem to be random strings of text, and my journal/quest log has some odd entries not at all like before 0.51 was installed. Icar is now "Gronk", Paraway is now "You're going to hell!" and Rurik's name is a whole sentence: "Don't get in front of me...Blast, now now". I'm totally not kidding...

I uninstalled CA 0.51, and BGII completely, and deleted everything in the BGII folder except for my savegames. I installed BGII, ToB, patched and then installed CA 0.50, updated to 0.50a (which is how I was playing CA before) but still have the wrong names/journal/BIO's. Any idea how I can fix this?

#464617 Thoughts on RTT (possibly some spoilers)

Posted by shai on 07 October 2009 - 10:59 AM in Return to Trademeet

Hi al17,

First, let me just say, wow! RTT is a fantastic mod, and hats off to you for all the hard work and effort that must've gone into creating it. I was surprised at just how much game time (and story, and plot) there was in this mod, and I've honestly enjoyed playing RTT immensely. I love the BG series, and your mod is just awesome :)

* SPOILER ALERT * Having reached the end of RTT 1.6, my one gripe is that the final scene seems exceptionally hard. Now of course you expect the game ending to be quite challenging, but the difficulty seems much greater, out of nowhere. It might be that I'm not using the right tactics, but it does seem that defeating the final character is immensely difficult. The level of difficulty seems to be out of balance? This is just my opinion, and not to be taken as criticism.

In any event, thanks so much for creating RTT, and I hope to see version 2, or some sort of follow-on at some stage.
