#586524 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 31 January 2016 - 07:38 AM in Mega Mod Help

Why does Standardize Shapeshifting from Klatu's Tweaks & Fixes never gets installed in my game? Here is the error, I always skip it, if someone can help me solve this error, I'd appreciate it:

Using Language [English]

NOT INSTALLED DUE TO ERRORS Standardize Shapeshifting

D:\GOG Games\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition>

ERROR: End_of_file
Standardize Shapeshifting (Klatu Tweaks and Fixes) was not installed due to errors.

EDIT: Looks like the error incurs when the setup asks you for confirmation of your selections:

You have selected the following options:

 * Always incur 100% divine casting failure on polymorphed creatures (default)

 * Always incur 100% arcane casting failure on polymorphed creatures (default)

Proceed with these choices? (enter 1 or 2)
1) Proceed with installation.
2) Re-select choices.
Stopping installation because of error.
Stopping installation because of error.
Stopping installation because of error.

ERROR Installing [Standardize Shapeshifting], rolling back to previous state.

When I install it manually and click on "1) Proceed with installation." it installs fine, with no problems.
This is only possible if you do not choose the last subcomponent (although I can not imagine how this can be done).

I see in zonx's WeiDU.log that this component was installed, but I don't know if he had any problem with it. I myself have tested the installation of this component with different combinations of subcomponents, and it is always installed perfectly. The only way I was able to repeat this error is edit User.ini before installation and delete "2090?5_1" in "Current" block. So did you happen to edit this file before installation? And, did you try to install only this component without any other mods?

#585822 The 'official' BWP Fixpack thread

Posted by Quiet on 21 January 2016 - 02:13 AM in Mega Mod Help

I am reviewing the changes in Baldurdash 1.73 for compatibility with BG2 Fixpack.  Has anyone else looked at this already?

There is a new tweak in with the "core Baldurdash fixes" component:
Spoiler
Roxanne is right, it from BG2 Tweaks:
Spoiler

Here is another new one:

//-------------------------------------------------------------------------
//Drow Item\Avatar Fixes (agb1: new in 1.73)
//-------------------------------------------------------------------------
COPY_EXISTING ~baldur.bcs~ ~override~
EXTEND_TOP ~baldur.bcs~ ~BDash\BAF_t\tBALDUR.BAF~

Edit:  What am I doing wrong with my spoiler tags?

Contents of tBALDUR.BAF:

Spoiler
Not new. It was in BDash 1.68 and named "Half-Orc Romance & Drow Item\Avatar Fixes".

Two more new tweaks, still in the core fixes component:

Spoiler
And The Imp is right too. BG2 Tweaks again:
Spoiler
As for me, it is best to comment out these tweaks in BDash and allow player to choose to install corresponding components or not through BG2 Tweaks.

#585821 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 21 January 2016 - 02:10 AM in Mega Mod Help

Just a quick question.  I was running a "tactics" install yesterday and there were several instances where it prompted me to skip or install a component because another mod already included a similar component.  One example I remember involved monk fists and the mods Baldurdash, Sword & Fist?, and another one I can't recall.  I skipped the first option but then it didn't install Tortured Souls because Baldurdash was missing.  I think a tactics install has similar prompts with the AI mods like SCS.

This might not be the only reason ... As the BDash fixpack got a new name, it also renamed the .tp2 file, and as such, the NEJ's requirement for the BDash .tp2 name might not be the correct one, so the component that is required is not in the weidu.log cause it's simply wrongly named. This was previously fixed by the BWP Fixpack, but if the .tp2 name was changed, it's not likely applied anymore...

NEJ v691/v694 tp2 files do not reference BDToBv168 tp2.  v691 checks for Baldurdash indirectly by checking for an area BCS file.  v694 (which is a patch on top of v691) doesn't add any additional checks.  I also did a case-insensitive search in the BiG World Fixpack for BDToBv168 and found no matches except the BWP patches for Baldurdash itself.

"didn't install Tortured Souls" and it has request for Setup-BDToBv168.exe (If my memory serves me).

#585488 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 16 January 2016 - 12:41 PM in Mega Mod Help

Hey guys, I just got this error in my current fresh BWS install, can someone help me solve it? Or atleast tell me what to do? Because in my previous BWS installation I didn't get this error at all.

Installing [Revised Critical Hit Aversion] [V4 8 Beta]
Copying and patching 4283 files ...
ERROR: [M#PIRBAN.ITM] -> [override/M#PIRBAN.ITM] Patching Failed (COPY) (Invalid_argument("Str.search_forward"))
Stopping installation because of error.

Oh, I didn't notice it before:

note: in the attached logs is the error referring to M#PIRBAN.ITM again, this is because BWS didn't download the recently committed item_rev update and i forgot to check that fact before installing. will check tomorrow.

But until now BWS used a link to version of IRv4, where is still not resolved this problem. Now fixed.

#585195 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 12 January 2016 - 11:57 PM in Mega Mod Help

* BWS:  Extract.au3 - Special treatment for Git master branch archives: for mods that have a 'Save=' filename in MODNAME.ini ending in '-master.zip', move sub-folders up a level after extracting and delete original folder (e.g., move BG2\generalized_biffing-master\generalized_biffing to BG2\generalized_biffing, then delete BG2\generalized_biffing-master)

Uh... This function has long been included in BWS and works fine.

Version of BWS was b692bec (~17:08 on 27/11/2015).

No one but me didn't bother that it was a version of almost two months ago? And since no one reported about such errors (despite the fact that mod has been fixed)? And that link to mod since then has not changed? And it's not the only mod that BWS downloads from github, but neither about one of them there were no such reports? So maybe the problem in something else? Because I tested without the latest commit and mod installed fine for me.

The ony issue was that the installation of Generalized Biffing failed for me (and the download of WeiDU was corrupted somehow, I needed to manually re-download).

And would like to clarify what failed: installation or extraction of mod? Because if failed installation, it is very strange that there were no reports from BWS about failed extraction.

@agb1

I'm not saying that your corrections bad, just don't see any reason hasty correct something that already works well.

#585073 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 10 January 2016 - 03:20 PM in Mega Mod Help

Really? It still remains in Expert preselection. Mentioning the component 0000 we can somehow save the situation, but it is only as long as someone does not choose it manually.

No, if we know that some mods/components for certain reasons can't be installed together, we need to prevent the possibility of these reasons by changing the order of installation, adding conflicts and dependencies, patches mods by BWFixpack etc. Otherwise, why would we need this tool if it can't ensure error-free installation?

And to ensure that we don't forget about these errors, you have already created a good topic, where you can store the necessary records. By the way, is possible to submit the remaining workarounds and try to remember because of what they once were added, if we decide to remove them.

#585064 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 10 January 2016 - 10:55 AM in Mega Mod Help

It was added temporarily, until you add the appropriate fixes in BWFixpack, and stayed there for just one day.  :)
As for the rest of workarounds I can say that they were either taken from BWInstallpack or added to BWS in days when Yellow and Round was inactive on SHS (or not yet engaged BWFixpack, not remember).

I don't mind that you're even now removed all these workarounds from BWS, but on the condition that they will be corrected in any other way (there certainly all hope for BWFixpack), and not just for the sake of their there was not (especially it concerns mods that are no longer supported by the authors).

About the RPG-KP workarounds in particular, I think that kind of workaround should not be done by BWS. Instead we should just change the Type of the problematic mod to 'E' in the mod.ini. Since one of my recent changes, just changing the Type will automatically mark all of its components red and put them in the Expert pre-selection (no need to modify Select.txt).

And here I disagree. Expert we must mark mods that after installation (which implies that they should be installed through BWS under any conditions) may cause problems in the game. If mod or component for some reason cann't be installed (as it was in the case of installation Infinity Sounds after RPG-KP), we need to add corresponding conflict or dependence for prevent the occurrence of errors during installation (at least temporarily, until this issue is solved in any other way).

#584850 Brand New Installation

Posted by Quiet on 06 January 2016 - 08:34 AM in Mega Mod Help

Ooooooh that's just the start of it :unsure:

Wow, them much more than we expected. Thank you.

W#HLAB01-04 were not in the last patch ... are they OK?  I just re-enabled RPG-KP in BWS.

Look here.

#584849 Why are these mods Expert mods?

Posted by Quiet on 06 January 2016 - 08:26 AM in Mega Mod Help

Thanks White Agnus!  Fixes are always welcome.

Hmm, looked through my fixed files, but I found a problem, how to implement it...

I think BWS will rename the Helarine_BGEE.tp2 to setup-JklHel.tp2, but if someone doesn't use BWS to install the mod, the fixes couldn't applied, if only BWFixpack is used.... (Any idea, how to handle this? :D)

I don't remember why it was done, but I think renaming can be disabled.

and that copy of the mod is incorrectly named SPItemsv11.txt (it should be .exe).  Does anyone have an alternate download link for the correctly named executable?
The file name in the link doesn't matter, the BWS can rename it after the download is over to end with a .exe ...

I don't see a problem here too, especially because until now BWS copes with installing this mod even without renaming the file.

Try putting this updated critical_hits.tpa in the item_rev/components folder and installing again.  Let me know if that fixes the problem.

Yes, for me Revised Critical Hit Aversion now installed without errors. Thanks.

Sooo... Lollorian, how about to fix other RPG-KP's spells (SPCL562-566, and seems W#HLAB01-04 need to be zeroed too)?  :)

should work fine.

Unfortunately, BWS can not use such links.

I used lynxlynx:

http://lynxlynx.info...3/ItemRevisions

http://lynxlynx.info.../SpellRevisions

As of this morning, Ser Elryk successfully downloaded the v3 versions with BWS.

I'm about v4 links.

#584243 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 28 December 2015 - 12:55 PM in Mega Mod Help

ANN;BP and BPSeries AI need the following IDS entry
CMD;echo 2302 WIZARD_REMOVE_MAGIC >> override\Spell.IDS
If to remove this line, Wheels of Prophecy installs without errors.

Quiet, are you saying that if you remove that line, Wheels of Prophecy installs without errors, but with that line, it fails?

Yes, I'm tried two identical Recommended-based installations and one with that line fails, but another without it - haven't any error.

Something like this?

@Roxanne

You no need a Beamdog forum login to download Ascension, you only need link to file which you can find here (look at BG2EE prefix).

There you can find links to other mods from Beamdog forum.

#583644 Error installing 1pp Spell Tweaks

Posted by Quiet on 11 December 2015 - 04:49 AM in 1PP

http://gibberlings3....showtopic=24746

Take away SPWI414.SPL from override folder, install 1pp's #202 component, then return SPWI414.SPL back to override folder. Or just use BWS that do it automatically.

#583494 [list in post #1] BP+SCS install reports BG1 & BG2

Posted by Quiet on 05 December 2015 - 03:39 PM in Mega Mod Help

Thanks @Quiet for the pointer.  The conclusion in that thread doesn't match what I am seeing.  Maybe I am doing something wrong:  doesn't a file in override have priority over a file in a biff?

I am seeing Firebead cast a spell on CHARNAME in the first round after entering Winthrop's inn even after I replace firebe.cre with an earlier backup that doesn't use the BPMAGE6 script.  I am testing this by creating a new game and walking into the inn.

It seems that you replace the wrong file:

Edit: I was wrong.  I hadn't actually replaced the creature with the pre-BP 150 component.  It is BP 150 (generic creature processing) that gives Firebead the BPMAGE6 script.  By default he has the MAGE6 script.  If I replace firebe.cre with the pre-BP version, he still casts a spell at CHARNAME (magic missile, because he is using a different script).  So the problem seems to be that Firebead is initially hostile to CHARNAME for some reason, not the BP script itself.

firebe.cre - Firebead from Beregost.

fireb1.cre - Firebead from Winthrop's inn.

#583379 [list in post #1] BP+SCS install reports BG1 & BG2

Posted by Quiet on 03 December 2015 - 01:42 AM in Mega Mod Help

I think once we solve the Firebead-starts-hostile-for-one-round bug, we can merge this test branch into the master branch.  I still would like to know if the Ascension encounters work properly with mixed SCS+BP components and AI, but we have conflict warning rules for them so users won't install those untested combinations accidentally.

Have you tried to look here (posts 69-88)?

#583314 The 'official' BWP Fixpack thread

Posted by Quiet on 02 December 2015 - 02:13 AM in Mega Mod Help

Coincidentally, this part caught my attention:
CA_AddDown=http://www.arcanecoast.ru/download/BWFixpack_aurora_fix.7z
CA_AddSave=BWFixpack_aurora_fix.7z
CA_AddSize=1259
CA_AddTest=BiG World Fixpack\aurora\t-kobold.tpa.patch:-
Is there a fix to BWP Fixpack on Arcanecoast? If so, how comes it wasn't incorporated into, ugh, Fixpack itself? :)

Just for the record:
CA_ means that this is only used when building the mod.ini for the config-folder CA, which contains the BWS files for Classic Adventures.
You can also find other examples like stuff that's used for IWD1 only if you look into the global 1pp-file.
If you look into the BWP's mod.ini, you won't find the CA_lines. If you configure CA and check the mod.ini, you'll find.
AddDown=http://www.arcanecoast.ru/download/BWFixpack_aurora_fix.7z
AddSave=BWFixpack_aurora_fix.7z
AddSize=1259
AddTest=BiG World Fixpack\aurora\t-kobold.tpa.patch:-
Those are very likely lines that were in the games mod.inis before we merged them into the global ini-files.
Maybe there are some more of these leftovers.

By the way, it's would be nice to add this fix to BWFixpack to remove it from Arcanecoast (click and click).

#583313 A comprehensive Guide to BP-WeiDu Compatibility

Posted by Quiet on 02 December 2015 - 01:25 AM in Big Picture

Dig deeper. The problem is not in BP or Tactics mod, but in BWFixpack. Once upon a time when BP was consisted not from a tens of components, but only one component, for better compatibility with the Tactics was created a fix. It checks for the presence in game folder BPBAG04.ITM file (which adds by BP of course) and skips the corresponding Tactics' components. Now, after separation BP into components, BPBAG04.ITM adds by BP's component #35 'add bags of holding and throwing daggers', which has nothing common with Tactics' components. But for some reason this fix is still included in the BWFixpack and therefore BWS is still present this strange conflict, allowing to avoid the pile of questions on the topic "Why I can not install a particular Tactics' component if I did not install the tactical components of BP?".

#581384 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by Quiet on 10 October 2015 - 05:55 AM in Mega Mod Help

I just upped a commit and wanted to know if there was any particular reason for the old npc_strongholds link (except that it's a ZIP and the new version is an EXE :P)

because it's RAR self-extracting archive, exe = visible icon

No. Because rar is a newer version than exe, as says author of mod here and in readme from the rar.
By the way, mod have already updated to version 7.
