#491151 install error at 800x600

Posted by JabberJaw on 29 June 2010 - 08:52 PM in Ghostdog's PS:T UI

Hi qweewq,

Soon one of the pros will solve your problem.
Until then I can only comment.

Did you follow Thunderpeel's guide?
I have the 2cd set and use 800x600 with
40% fonts on my xp with no problems.
I'll post my WeiDU fyi.

Good luck and be patient, someone will help you.

#490603 Add modding credits to loading screen of PT

Posted by JabberJaw on 23 June 2010 - 12:35 PM in PS:T Tweaks

To the Spellhold Studio's Modding Community,

When I load PT for my friends to see, it is the modded version, not the vanilla game.
It seems to me that a credit screen to recognize the work done on PT by the great modders
and the Spellhold Community should be part of the loading logos.

When I load Pirates of the Caribbean, a screen comes up that recognizes
the Pirates Ahoy Community and I'd like one for PT.

If I knew how to open and edit the movie files I'd make my own
using the SH logos, modder's pics and names, etc.
I might even edit Morte's diolog at the start of the game
and have him say something like "Hey, you looking better thanks to the SH modders."

When I finish the game I will look into the modding aspect of the game
and try to learn how to do this, but the modders that post here are pros
and could do this now.

I'm sure many of us could throw some ideas your way
if you would be willing to give it some thought.

Please consider my request, as I am very proud to have a modded PT.

#490591 Is Morte not being captured a bug?

Posted by JabberJaw on 23 June 2010 - 05:57 AM in PS:T Fixpack

Hi HomiSite,

My memories of DD is mainly of the great music
and the enjoyment the game gave to me,
but I do remember having to restart the game at least twice
because I was unable to exit an area or something.
I've played too many games between then and now for me to remember details.

In those days my computer had no internet, so I had no
access to game guides, forums or patches.
Because I had a small HD I overwrote my save games
to save space, so there were no earlier saves to go to. lol

I think I will try to find my game disks and play again one day.
Maybe then I'll remember where I had problems.

I'm going to edit my post so no one thinks DD is a bugged game,
and I intend to give more thought to what I post in the future.

DD will forever hold a warm place in my heart,
even though my memories of it may have faded.

Thanks for reminding me of the power of words HomiSite.

#490507 Is Morte not being captured a bug?

Posted by JabberJaw on 22 June 2010 - 09:00 AM in PS:T Fixpack

Thank you HomiSite and Ghostdog
for taking the time to post.

I used an older save point and all is ok.

I'm still curious to know if Morte not being captured
would have shut out advancement in the game.

Oh well, by the time I finish the game I'll be able
to answer my own questions. (I hope) :D
Till then, it's good to know that the
Spellhold members are there if I need them.

Thank you so much for your time.

#490083 Is Morte not being captured a bug?

Posted by JabberJaw on 17 June 2010 - 07:17 PM in PS:T Fixpack

I read an old post by Midwinter that
led me to believe Morte must be captured
or the game can not be finished correctly.

www.shsforums.net/topic/30605-morte-not-getting-kidnapped/

Quote Midwinter:
"I'm currently playing Planescape for the first time and loving it so far.
I've progressed steadily through Sigil and everything went great, but now I'm stuck in the wards.
I don't like to turn to FAQs and walkthroughs every time I run into a problem,
but after completing almost all quests I could find in both areas, frustration got the the better of me
and now I suspect there's a bug at work. According to all the guides, Morte was supposed to get kidnapped
by wererats when I first entered the lower ward. He wasn't. I can see some wererats standing near the entrance,
but when I click on them, nothing happens."

I have the same exact problem as Midwinter, three years later, and I have the latest patches!

Could I have made this bug happen by running back to the previous area
and then reloading the game to redistribute my inventory?

Should I have exited the game fully and then reloaded
to reset the data instead of just reloading from within the game?

I've played for two weeks since the 'bug', oblivious of any problems.
Can I still play the game as is, or should I start a new game?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

#489781 Fresh install.

Posted by JabberJaw on 13 June 2010 - 08:08 PM in Planescape: Torment

Hi Claro,

I used Thunderpeel's guide a few weeks ago
and so far my PT is running flawless.
I'm on XP and have the 2 CD set.
I used his advice on new player mods and I
used 800x600 with 40% fonts.

I'm in the Upper Ward now. This is my first time
playing, so I can't comment on the content changes
in the new mods, but IMHO Thunderpeel's guide
is the work of a pro, and his links are up to date.

:D

#489369 Game locks up when leveling Annah

Posted by JabberJaw on 07 June 2010 - 09:09 PM in Planescape: Torment

Annah got her first level up, and when
I try to level her the game locks up
on the accept screen.

Edit:

Silly me. I just noticed that I had to
use my thief points to get the accept
button to work.
Seems like the bug was not in the game
but rather in my head. :D

Please forgive me.

#489365 Is 800x600 a viable option for widescreen mod?

Thanks Ghostdog,
I'm up and the game is running fine.

#488464 Is 800x600 a viable option for widescreen mod?

Posted by JabberJaw on 27 May 2010 - 07:14 PM in Ghostdog's PS:T UI

I play Fallout in 800x600.
I wanted to try this res. and also 20% fonts, as I have old eyes.
A post on Thunderpeel's install guide makes me think
I should skip the widescreen and ghostdogs mods when I patch.

Here is the post:

Darpaek said..January 11, 2010.
You might want to mention that 800x600
isn't a viable option for the Widescreen mod.
Even though it will work on its own, 800x600
is not a supported resolution for Ghostdog's UI
and Ghostdog will only install on 1024+.
If you try to install Ghostdog over 800x600 widescreen,
you'll get an error and the Ghostdog installation will fail.

Is Darpaek's post true.

Thanks

#488287 Is compatibility mode needed to install Planescape?

Thank you so much Daulmakan,
for such a quick answer.

#488285 Is compatibility mode needed to install Planescape?

Posted by JabberJaw on 25 May 2010 - 07:55 PM in Planescape: Torment

Do I need to be in 98 compatibility mode
on my xp to install Planescape and its patches?
I have the 2cd set.

Also, Soulbringer seems so lonesome on the other side
of my twin-pack game. Has anyone ever played it?

Thanks

I bow to all the Mod Gods that have made
the game worlds that I have traveled through
for the last twenty years, such an enjoyable experience.
