It did bother me that he didn't even have death field, and some parts of the game would of been more fun with more difficult battles, but I play RPGs for the plot.

And KOTOR 2 had way too much wasted plot potential for me to complain about the difficulty.

Why? I don't see why good aligned gods should punish their high level and faithful servants...

Considering that a negative effect for an hla would interfere with a high level and faithful servant of an evil god, I don't see why evil gods should do so either.

As much as I loved Torment, the idea of a <CHARNAME> that stays mortal continuing into the Planescape setting doesn't excite me, as it seems like one chooses not to ascend in order to stay on Toril. That seems to be the problem, I would love to be able to continue as the character and with the companions I've come to love, but their doesn't seem to be a satisfactory way to do so: lower the pc's level and it seems cheap, keep it and stay in the Forgotten Realms and everything becomes too easy, go to the outer planes and one questions why they didn't ascend in the first place. No-one wants to write all of the npc's, but they were such an intregal part of the origional game that it wouldn't feel like a continuation of the experience without your favorites.


That said, Domi's idea above could work well, except IMHO the whole [i] suddenly being picked off the street and being forced into being <CHARNAME>'s champion seems a little awkward. Maybe if you were raised as a follower of <CHARNAME> to become his/her champion (without knowing it) and there could be two endings, one were you accept and becomes <CHARNAME>'s incarnation in the material plane, or manage to escape (and face the high priest in a final boss battle) or something

\1) Level of adventure

I'd rather go for a 'plot element' and make the character start at a comfortable level 5, with a room to grow without having to invent the wheel and having plenty of room to grow.

Maybe a post-tob game couldn't work, but becoming a low level character after fighting through bg1,2 and tob wouldn't be very fun. w/o some sort of clever plot excuse. That said, it would take a lot to make a convincing level drop. It was bad enough in rtt, and that was only to level 12 enough.

2) Project scope.

One cannot embrace the unembraceable. So the priority goes to story line and adventures, rather than the new kits and items and NPCs.

I think the main problems with ate was that Silverose wanted do to much cool sounding stuff and didn't want to drop anything. But yeah, I agree with you about what the focus should have been.

3) NPCs

I would have dropped all of the old BioWARE NPCs, romances or no. How much could one write for the same character? So up to 10 new characters. No more than 10, though, because more would choke the development.

agreed. all of the npc's would have been cool, but I'd rather see a tc out with a couple then an idea for all of them.

Sorry, I misread that and thought you said Minsc would leave if she joined the party.

@godspawn: people will use her if she's an interesting character with a good story, if she's slightly weaker than Edwin it doesn't matter. That said, int. doesn't make that big a difference anyway, and if you feel she needs 18 int, the other npc's from bg1 have raised stats anyway.

Will there also be degrees to how aggressive she is? For example, will it be possible to have both a Chrsta who stands back and looks the other way as you sacrafice children, and also have it so she would look to sacrafice children herself?

I do agree we will start with what we are decided on. However, it is wise to talk about other things, so that when we get there we know what we want and are not on hold due to deciding what to do (which is the reason I am working on Ian waiting on the new sound appointment of Ariena and her Kit)

It seems apparently logic to strike a deal with Rillfane for Irenicus is indeed the greater threat. Thus is the proposal of myself and Hendryk. The point where the Drow betray you seems now more the discussion in my eyes then that they stay allied and I believe that a good conclusion. Let us continue discussing for I value this greatly. :thumb:

yes.

Other planets exist on the prime material plane. Krynn (the planet in dragonlance and where the knights in the planar sphere are from) is one of these planets, as is Toril. /I'm not sure how they got there if it only travels planes though. I've also heard NiGHTMARE mention that Earth actually was a 1e campaign setting.

Sorry it took me so long to get back, I was trying to recover the actual thread but failed.

Yes, we were trying to make a chance to join the drow in The Dark Elves (an old mod project that a I began, a few other peopleI were working on and I led into the ground that started as a thread in the mod ideas forum here, then Teambg, then COM, which would let the PC play as a drow)

We weren't having the drow betray Irenicus persay, but rather played off the fact that drow houses are always competing with eachother and created a new house ranked directly below despera that wanted to ursurp their rivals and certainly didn't want them doing something so important. Planning to invade Suldanessar themselves, this new house gets the pc to betray despera and side with them. We were unsure of how the PC would get into the elven city but had a few (weak) ideas floating around, and afterwards the drow would be available as an ally against Bhodi. We also had a fairly complex plotline of this new house and how the pc would get involved with them, but that's irrelivant. Anyway this new house would want the pc alive and would ressurect him/her at the temple of Lloth, where SOA would end with Ellesime's sacrafice.

We hadn't really talked about the actual chapter 7 or ToB movie. In my head though you would sacrafice the 3 artifacts in a ritual to temporarily weakan the god and allow Lloth to open the gate for you, then she would corrupt and draw power from the tree, both of which I now find much stupider.

If any of this sounds confusing, stupid and/or incompatible with realms lore or ingame stuff, The Dark Elves development was unnorganized and very, very poorly run, and there was a reason, even though I know it dissapointed people, that I pulled the plug on it. Plus its after 1 and I haven't slept more that 4 hours a night in a week, so I'm not making sense as a whole.

I don't see why Amellysan couldn't have restored him with the damage resistance. He also had free will when he was alive, she changed things. Or maybe the process of wearing off just resumed at ressurection it would have continued should the Yaga Sura avatar have survived longer.

And who said his new form had a heart?

Just think of it this way, the more planets we get, the longer and harder the game can( and should ) be.

Or, as people have mentioned before, the less developed each planet will be. An entire game could be set in a smallish region of one planet. Of course, since it's star wars we want space travel, but I would personally love to see less planets that each contain more than just one small city or spaceport.

I remember we had plans for this in the (now innactive) Dark Elves mod. I can send you the relevant brainstorms we had in the workroom if you want. It won't work directly as that mod had the pc as a drow, but you might be able to use some of the ideas.
