#196575 What PS Faction Would You Belong To?

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 29 March 2005 - 01:37 PM in Planescape: Torment

Athar, here. Don't really think it's very accurate, as I myself strongly believe that the Gods exist. Not specifcally the D&D Gods, but Gods nonetheless. On the other hand, I do think that this applies to me as far as "God" him/herself is concerned.

#190870 Hidden Dialogues

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 01 March 2005 - 02:07 PM in KotOR Series

aww damn. I will never play as a male though. I simply can't after playing thru' as a female.  I think I probably missed out more of those easter eggs.

That also means that you will forever miss out on the Last of the Handmaidens as a party member. But if you're okay with that, then I have no right to complain... I guess.

#190867 Goto

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 01 March 2005 - 02:05 PM in KotOR Series

I rather like Goto, actually. He's a very interesting character, he gives me incentive (money!) to play Light, and where HK is great at combat and T3 is great with skills, Goto is good (not great, but still good) with both. In fact, courtesy of the Droid Warfare Upgrade and his Goto Targeting Module, I've found that he can be just as good in combat as HK-47.

#190865 Maximum level.

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 01 March 2005 - 02:01 PM in KotOR Series

It doesn't matter really; you can beat everyone easily were you lv 30 or lv 50.

View Post

You can get past 30, and in fact all the way to 50 (which is in fact the cap), but it's very difficult. Well, maybe not difficult, but certainly time-consuming. Just go to GameFAQs. There's a guide there that explains how.

#187474 Does it kick ass?

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 10 February 2005 - 09:46 AM in KotOR Series

KotOR II has many bugs and a lot of stuff was cut from it (PM me to find out what, as I don't want to spoil anything for you without your consent), but it is still a rockin' awesome game, easily as good as its predecessor. You are very wise to get this game; it will enrich your life greatly. And if you've played Planescape: Torment, you will see many similarities and recurring themes. Especially the Big Secret Plot Twist Device™.

#183708 NWN 2

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 23 January 2005 - 08:04 AM in NWN Series

I'm going to buy it. I liked the original and loved the expansions to the original, so I figure I have very little to lose. But like many others, it's the toolset and customizability that I'm looking forward to the most.

#180221 Who would YOU like to see as an NPC?

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 09 January 2005 - 10:53 AM in Baldur's Gate Series

You know, Milton from Office Space would be pretty fun to play.

I like the way you think.

My top five not-yet-in-BG2 NPCs are, in no particular order...
Sergeant Major Avery Johnson
HK-47
The kitty in the picture that I posted in the "One of those 'Awww!' moments..." thread
Warmaster Nas Choka of the Yuuzhan Vong
Me

#179556 Knights Of The Old Republic 2 : Sith Lords

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 05 January 2005 - 08:11 PM in KotOR Series

I've done the Korriban Massive Experience Glitch, and can say firsthand that the cap is in fact level 50. You should keep going for a while after you reach it, though, to make sure all your party members get there too.

Also, a question -- on Telos, in the underground military base, there is a door that, from what the map says, seems to lead to the lower levels of the base... but even after four completed games, I have not found a way to open it. Is there a way to open it?

#172864 Stuck in a bug

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 01 December 2004 - 01:05 PM in KotOR Series

Ah. I see.

Clicky.

Go for the "Bug/Glitch FAQ" that's at the top of the "In Depth FAQs" list.
Hope this helps. I certainly know I was frustrated when I first encountered this damnable bug.

#171982 Bgii Novel series?

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 27 November 2004 - 09:32 AM in Delusions of the Mind

The BG-series of books is absolutely not worth your time to read if you are particularly fond of Imoen, Jaheira, Sarevok, or believability. All three of those characters die -- in very gruesome ways -- and the main character (Abdel Adrian, Human Fighter), uses unenchanted chain mail and an unenchanted long sword throughout the entire series, and nothing more.

Imoen does have lesbian tendencies, though, as stated, which brings the book up from a 0/100 to a 21/100. Still a crappy rating, though.

I suppose, though, that there's no way we can stop you from reading them if you want to form your own opinion.

#171730 Stuck in a bug

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 25 November 2004 - 10:46 PM in KotOR Series

That's exactly when I thought it was. I've definitely encountered this glitch on a couple of my Xbox saves. From the screenshots (especially the map), I can tell that this is the Galaxy Droid glitch. It happens when a number of presently-unknown factors are in perfect synch with each other after leaving the Leviathan. You set down on whate'er planet you're heading, but you start out in the main hold where T3, Zaalbar, and (if you didn't kill her) Juhani normally are, instead of in the cockpit like normal. Instead, everybody except Bastila is there, just like in the cutscene when fleeing the Leviathan in which you explain to everybody who you really are. In the cockpit is a floating Droid called the Galaxy Droid which can teleport you anywhere: Endar Spire, Star Forge, Manaan, Taris. Anywhere. But it's an extremely dangerous glitch. You should reload from the latest save before you encountered the glitch and can corrupt the save you found it on. You can read further documentation on it here. Look for section 5b, titled Galaxy Droid.

Hope I've been some help to ye.

#171617 Stuck in a bug

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 25 November 2004 - 11:30 AM in KotOR Series

I am curious... When in your game did this happen? Depending on when, I think I may be able to help you, because I've gotten a very similar-looking bug on my Xbox version of KotOR.

#164856 Favourite Character

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 24 October 2004 - 02:13 PM in KotOR Series

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person to vote for Juhani as my favourite character. Many people find her accent annoying, but personally, I like it. After all, she's not human, so why shouldn't she have an exotic accent? Too, she is a worth fighter, one who I am always glad to bring with me. She's also the most like me personality-wise: good-hearted but with a very short temper.

And am I the only one who would've liked to have the option of accepting her into your party without her turning light? The options of killing her and of redeeming her would still be there, of course, but this option would've added a well-needed third evil character (before Bastila "falls," of course). If you're evil and actually roleplaying, the only options until way late in the game are Canderous, HK-47, and possibly T3-M4.

#164010 BG1 Dropouts

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 19 October 2004 - 06:59 PM in IE Mod Ideas

I was playing BG1 recently (right now, to be exact), and arrived at the Nashkel carnival. As I was de-stonifying Branwen, I was struck with an idea for a mod.

The mod idea is this: All of the NPCs who were in BG1 who are not joinable NPCs in unmodded BG2 (I count the BG2 Tutorial as being part of BG1) should be made available to join the party, with the exception of the ones who fight alongside you in Obe's training center. We know that Xan and Branwen are in the Tutorial, but as far as I am aware, there is no explanation for what happened to them afterward. Nor are there suitable explanations for the disappearances of Shar-Teel, Kagain, Yeslick, Eldoth, Skie, and so forth. It would be particularly interesting to see the changes that would be made to BG2 to have Ajantis joinable in BG2, or everybody's favourite gnome, Tiax.
The second part of the mod would explain (in their biographies?) why such party members as Edwin, Viconia, and the others who are already joinable in both BG1 and BG2 weren't in Irenicus' Dungeon with you.

I'm not particularly coherent right now (night does that to you, unfortunately) and I realize that this is kinda shoddily written (especially for me), so let me know if you need me to put my ideas into clearer terms when I'm more awake.

#162422 The Rakata and the Selkath

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 13 October 2004 - 11:50 AM in KotOR Series

Is there any resource anywhere that says what happened to the Rakata or the Selkath after the events of Knights of the Old Republic? Or will the fates of these races be explained in The Sith Lords?

#162421 Questions...ultimate dark/light level, charisma?

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 13 October 2004 - 11:48 AM in KotOR Series

The question still has not been answered about the max Dark/Light bonuses. I, too, have the Xbox version and though I have gotten to both extremes with all three Jedi classes, I have never gotten any of the bonuses. Which is really too bad, because with a high WIS/CHA level 2/18 Soldier/Consular (it is not "Counselor," people!) one would have enough Force Points to fill up the Maw with several left over.

#162419 Yuzzan Vong

Posted by Aszlari Swordbringer on 13 October 2004 - 11:39 AM in KotOR Series

The Yuuzhan Vong did indeed first arrive in the Star Wars Galaxy slightly after the events of The Phantom Menace. They stumbled across a living world called Zonama Sekot, which, during the course of the book that this takes place in (Rogue Planet) gained sentience. It managed to repel the invaders -- called the "Far Outsiders" for the course of the book, since of course their name is not known to the inhabitants of the Star Wars Galaxy -- and then, shortly thereafter, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker found the planet in search for a missing Jedi Master by the name of Vergere, and Zonama Sekot was her last known location. Also, further corroborating evidence supporting this time period as their first entry point is found on the planet Bimmiel, during the New Jedi Order series itself -- or was found on Bimmiel, at any rate. Jedi Master Corran Horn and the late Jedi Knight Ganner Rhysode found the bones of a Yuuzhan Vong there. They were the bones of Mongei Shai, one of the first Yuuzhan Vong scouts in the Star Wars Galaxy and were found by New Republic scientists to be approximately fifty years old. This fits in the time frame of Rogue Planet. Furthermore, the late Nom Anor, a Yuuzhan Vong executor, has been stirring up seeds of dissent across the galaxy for what has been estimated to be a little over forty years, and this is very easily possible, given that it is stated in The Unifying Force that the Yuuzhan Vong typically have lives that are three times as long as a human's, or around 300 galactic standard years.
In all likelihood, the craft described was from a part of the Unknown Regions, a part that even the Chiss have not yet explored. Perhaps the upcoming nine-book series that is slated to begin hitting shelves in 2006 and is set after the New Jedi Order series will answer some questions in that regard.

But yes, the word Coralskipper did indeed flash across my thoughts when I first had that dialogue, and in fact still does. The Yuuzhan Vong rock (no pun intended).
