#272756 The Big Picture for a newbie

Much more clear now as I can match things up better.

I was unable to locate BG Fixpack v1.rar on any of the sites.
nor
BG_BGT Worldmap v6.rar

It also referred to intalling any "smaller mods" to use with BP WeiDu v177.  Are there other options if so which ones are recommended or is it best not to put any more in to avoid any problems.

I also noticed that NEJ1 and NEJ2 weren't mentioned here at all.  Are they no longer compatible or are they considered a smaller mods and if so which version is requried to work with the installation that I am following.

Thanks again for all your help I am excited to get those last 2 files and any other mods and have one big RPG on my plate, as CGOnline says till 2008 or 2009 (forgot).

#275792 Game Crashes after Character Creation

I have it at the 800x600 resolution not the 1024x768.

I cleared out the temp and cache (which had just one bif file) and nothing changed it still crashed.

Area000b.bif appeared again in the cache/data folder

I did a full install of BG1.  Removed the CDX mentions.

No cd was in any of my optical drives.

I get to finish the character creation and click accept.  The picture with tips appear and before the circle is 1/4 filled it switches over to windowed view and crashes.  I don't have the "windowed" option checked in the display options, I have full screen checked instead.  I noticed it also list only a OpenGL driver and no Direct3D.  I have a GeForce 6800GT

Hello,

I was doing the BP install following the Mega Install for BP and ran into the following error (do I need just another version of the file without a 0 byte size if so could someone provide a link to download it - only if only solution besides redoing the entire install)

ERROR: illegal 8-byte write (BPWDASGT) offset 616 of 0-byte file HGMND2.CRE
ERROR: [HGMND2.CRE] -> [override] Patching Failed (COPY) (Failure("HGMND2.CRE: write out of bounds"))
Stopping installation because of error.

I also noticed the following error but it didn't stop the installation (should I be worried at all?)

I was on step 41 of the installation when I ran into the following error:

Compiling 1 dialgue file and 17 scripts ...
ERROR: BIFF [./DATA/BG1DLG.BIF] cannot be loaded: Unix.Unix_error<20, "stat", "./DATA/BG1DLG.BIF">
ERROR: preprocessing APPEND_EARLY [bg2fixpack/compile/soa-dlg.d]: Unix.Unix_error<20, "stat", "./DATA/BG1DLG.BIF">
stopping Installation because of error.

ERROR Installing [BG2 Fixpack - Core Fixes], rolling back to previous state

#273721 Error during Step 41 BG2 Fix Pack.exe

a quick search of this forum for "Unix.Unix_error" reveals that there are two causes of this problem:

the first was specific to an old version of BD-weidu, which a: has long since been resolved; b: isn't relevant to you anyway as yr using the Fixpack - as you should.

the second occurs when you haven't done a clean install - ie, there are parts of yr previous install still present in yr BGII directory, and Fixpack is trying, not unreasonably, to patch a file yr game says is there but which you've long since deleted. so my question would be: did you do a clean install? ie, deleting yr BGII and BG1 directories in their entirety before starting this install?




Yes both were fully uninstalled and anything left in the directories and the directories themselves were deleted and the recycle bin emptied.

There is one in the script compiler directory and one in the overide as well as one in the SOS directory.
