#599508 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

it occurs randomly, shar teel initiates in party dialogue where she tells dorn that she has enough of him and want to fight with him

//well, since dorn is fully voiced in that dialogue, it seems that there is some bad relationship

It is a vanilla scripted fight. If there is a problem, you can advance progress with reading the value of

Global("DORN_SHARTEEL_FIGHT","GLOBAL")

and just incrementing it stepwise by 1 until you solved the issue.

its hard to install same installation as previous one... too many errors with unknown reason since im just replicating about 2 week old installation...

Spoiler

any ideas why this error occurs?

The error sometimes occurs with mods that install NPCs + kits due to some earlier error somewhere (outside of this mod). You can recover if you uninstall the complete Sandrah mod and manually install it component-wise. I have seen this error randomly with every mod that adds a kit for its NPC at one time or other and I have seen many attempts for explanations but no solution yet. My own experience is that it happens randomly and is not specific to my mod.

Hello, just a few question regarding EE version of some mods, TDD has a lots of NPC and quests according to old walkthrough i have stored, the EE version is significally reduced, having only robillard. Also on mine last playthough EET.. is that bug with dead khalid fixed? I noticed long time ago that if I remove dead khalid from party, later in SoD campaign i cannot proceed since there lies dead body.. :D .. another question, vecna is still not recreated to EET version? Neverending journey was great adiditon to big world installs, but not in EE version? And very last question regarding EET Iwd game, i was a little bit confused reading Gibberlings forum, what exactly it will do with BGTEE?

Can I just remove poor khalid from party and keep jaheira since I need more space in mine group? :D

Also there is no bg1 casting sound in EET? :(

// also I have noticed, even with the downloaded mods, every time I start new install, it downloads most of them again, even if I start new installation once per hour, same download folder and still it delays mine installation with those downloading.

I have a few answers

- TDDz has the same contents and quests it ever had, only it is now selectable components and Robilard is optional, he always was the only joibable NPC in that mod.

- no idea what problem you had with Khalid, not even sure it has anything to do with EET, never saw anyone else mention that issue.

- NEJ will never be an EE mod per decision of its author and there is nothing to comment here anymore, the guy has made that clear once and for all.

- Vecna seems to be unmaintained since years, it is an oddity and most likely not even worth considering,

- there was a plan for an IWD-in-EET that would add IWD as an optional mod to the world of BG as available through EET. It has not been released yet.

- BWS downloads mods for which it cannot verify that the already existing download is the last updated one. This is mostly the case for mods hosted on github to which modders can frequently supply updates or fixes without a change in the download link or modname. To be safe, BWS downloads them again to assure you have the latest version.

Mod: Might and Guile

Component: Add Multiclass Kits
Component: The Feat System (for Warriors and Rogues, requires EE 2.0+, includes Revised Stalker and Shadowdancer, disables Scout kit)

Curious why. Using both of those myself, plenty of good fun, no errors during install for me. Found something that just doesn't work with them, or just not your Thing?

Just that they failed in my install, I'm not sure why, and then it caused errors in Sandrah. If I knew better why they broke and could fix them easily I might, but I'm not going to worry about them too much at the moment. I do enjoy tactical combat, but I mainly want to get through the bevy of quests and content.

- RoT - The sixpack is not needed for the EET version of the mod, all necessary fixes are in the mod.

- For ACquest I am not sure as it has just been worked on by a new maintainer recently, I will inquire to find out if patches are still needed but I think they are not.

- Anegh - there was a minor error in a script, It is now corrected. GGT should have been GlobalGT in the context of ar5500.baf.

well, but gullykin is empty, there was no ogres until I changed the value to 1

This means it works now?

yes, when I changed the value to 1

Weird - the only thing in the game that changes the global from 1 to 2 is the spawning of those ogres. So apperently this was a one-time glitch.

I want to use BWS for my new EET install. There are still mods missing in BWS selection that are claimed to be EET compatible. The list on G3 and in BWS are not the same. Will that change soon?

Anything specific that you are missing?

There might be several reasons why a mod from the compatibility list is not in BWS:

- the mod may have been technically compliant with an early test version of EET, has been put to the list but is no longer applicable to the current game or EET version.

- the mod may meet the technical requirements of EET but the G3 list does exclude any checks for mod compatibility and a missing mod may create problems with many other mods (e.g. overwriting files etc).

- the mod was simply never committed to BWS. To add a mod to BWS, some configuration files need to be created and its place in the install sequence be determined (+ eventual conflicts/dependencies must be defined). This is not done by magic. The best way to add a mod is to use the template http://www.shsforums...est-template/.. You can do this yourself with a request to the BWS database https://bitbucket.or...p/bigworldsetup or ask for someone here to help you do it.

- the mod author does not agree to have the mod in BWS.

PS - in some cases you can simply add a mod to your BWS install by either

- pausing BWS at a point where you think the mod should appear in the sequence - install it manually - continue BWS

- install it after BWS -not recommended for contents mods with dialogues/scripts because those require EET_end to be installed afterward.

He has no such option about that

//fixed, i probably accidentaly dropped bashrik diary.. :D

~We are looking for Wostok Hammerhead. Is he known to you?~

is an option if you have these

Global("ACQWOSTOK","GLOBAL",0)
Global("ACQSNAKEWORK","GLOBAL",1)

OR

~We found a diary that must be shown to Wostok Hammerhead. Do you know where he is?~ If you have the diary

"Wostok? I know him well. But you've just missed him, he and his companions just started a patrol in the local sewers, investigating something."

"Wostok? You've just missed him, he and his companions just started a patrol in the local sewers, investigating something."

If nothing helps, you can

C:SetGlobal("ACQWOSTOK","GLOBAL",1) and search him in the sewers.

Hello, why I cant learn Thunderbolt spell? Im pure mage human and its 8th lvl spell.

SPWI819 is an invoker school spell, at least in my install. But maybe it is not even the same spell, depending on which mods you may have installed that can affect spells and spellcasters.

Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question, but since it involves a recent BWS install, I thought I'd go ahead and ask.

My recent BGEE EET BWS install was showing some minor stuttering when my characters were walking, so I decided to run the generalized biffing mod.  It did not help, though, and I eventually fixed the stuttering by going into my game options, and under the Graphics settings I activated "Alternate Renderer".

Well, after installing generalized biffing, my game has now developed an irritating problem.  When moving my party of characters from one map area to another, the game will sometimes freeze, requiring me to restart my computer and then restart BGEE EET in order to fix the problem.  This is starting to happen more and more often, so is getting very irritating.

I've since learned from online posts that Generalized biffing is not really required for Enhanced Edition games, and may in fact cause problems

I am currently in Chapter 5 of BGEE EET.  Is it possible and safe for me to uninstall/remove Generalized Biffing to see if that will fix my game freezing when moving between map areas, or am I just stuck with the existing biffing situation?

Thanks.

I can confirm your analysis, i.e. biffing is not required for EE and if there is stuttering, the source is elsewhere.

I have also found that there is an issue with biffed area graphic files (and worldmap) since the tis and corresponding pvrz files used in EE may be stored in different biffs and the game has trouble with the association.

At this point I have uninstalled biffing in my game successfully and solved the problem. The issue is that I did that very long time ago, when EET was new, the game was on an earlier version etc. I made no notes of the events, so it is all from memory. I cannot remember if the repair worked on saved games or whether i needed to restart. I would however expect, that it is worth a try. The graphic files etc are not stored in the saves, so chances are good. If I were you, I would try it rather than continue with a bugged game, it will not get better.

I'm out of the loop. I haven't messed with a BGT/BWP install in years. I'd like to give it another go with BG:EE/SOD/BG2:EE. Is it possible to go BGT/BWP with the enhanced versions?

If so, what guide should I follow?

I'm interested in trying out most of the available mods to see everything the community has to offer, primarily focused on bugfixes and new content (quests, areas, dialogue).

The equivalent to BGT in the EE world is EET

http://gibberlings3....p?showforum=195

Install is supported by BWS.

Is there a guide for which mods to download for an EET install?

The overview is here http://gibberlings3....topic=27741&hl=

The issue is the same you may remember from BGT, i.e. the install sequence is a crucial point. Unless you want to read a lot of material, you may be interested to use the BWS for it.

Here is a rough guide for manual install http://gibberlings3....=50#entry255109

Try

attachicon.gifRepairedMod.zip

Nope, same thing. Deleting the User.ini consistently fixes it, though.

Other thing

In your screenshot there is only one start file fot BWS (it is not visible which one?)

You should have

- Start BiG World Setup - Update If Needed.vbs

- Start BiG World Setup - Without Update.vbs

I suggest that you download BWS once again, unpack it and start it with that second file (without update).

About SCS manual install, in which of the three game folders do I have to run the setup? BG2EE?

For EET, yes.

Anybody having problems with Ascension? BWS told me it couldn't extract it, I did it manually and now it says "The mod was not found". This is crazy.

During the previous install, it happened the same thing with Thrown Hammers, but not this time.

Edit: BWS unpacked the wrong folder.. anyway, I unpacked also .gitattributes and .gitignore, that were already present, keeping the biggest ones.. what do they do? Have I screwed anything replacing them?

gitattributes and .gitignore are files not needed by the game at all. Some modders simply leave all type of garbage on the top level of of their mod folders or (even worse) on the game level where only setup-yyyy.exe ever should be. (Old habbits die hard)

Those files are from github where a lot of mods are hosted and THEY DO NOT BELONG into the downloadable stuff.

It is the same with putting setup-xxxx.tp2 outside your folder.

We talk to deaf ears here. Ah, forget it...

No

So I got the game to successfully work. However a tactics install seems to be very buggy. RoT for BGEET crashes at the end of the dungeon. The priest spells menu doesnt work. You can select a few spells then the menu bugs out and wont let you add all the spells to you spells slot. I have no idea what might be causing it. Also SCS's install is freaking long.

SCS is what it is - BWS has no influence on that mod and how the author choses to install it. Any previous discussions about this was fruitless.

If there are bugs in RoT for EET, the author will be interested in the details as the conversion is quite new and testing helps to improve it.

Depending on what other mods you have installed it'll be in one of their backup folders. I just did a file search on my entire BG2 folder and found it in about 5 locations.

Meaning that 5 mods made a backup of that file and provided their modified versions to override but the last one (to be identified with change-log) deleted it from override? How?

BWS still tells to open BGII and create a save game before installing the mods, but I think in EET this is no longer needed, because the cloud saves are downloaded automatically on every install.

Is that right? I'm asking because before last install I forgot to open the game and create a save, but BWS installed apparently without any sort of problems or errors.

This is part of the code that is no longer maintained(maintainable and why BWS is reduced to keeping just the database updated and why it will expire sooner or later  BWS Status July2017 tries to explain it (though it should probably be updated to refelect that things are even worse today).

Considering many download links in BWS point to the "master" in Github, the only way would be to individually check every mod to verify if it's been recently updated?

This is no problem, I know which mod has added the block. I just cannot verify at this moment if that code is looping or not, I would need the rest of the code to see what it does elsewhere. Could be done manually but it is too cumbersome to do.

Any possibility to run this on a mac? Probably not, but is it maybe possible to run it on a pc and then copy paste all of it into the Shadows of Amn folder? Except the .exe wouldn't patched and there might be a load of other issues.

There are experiments and experiences from some mac users who did something like running on pc and transferring override to mac.

There is a dedicated discussion topic for this at Gibberlings3 forum. My best hint is to try contact a forum member and modder called http://www.shsforums...1-subtledoctor/ who does stuff for mac and has much experience in this respect.

Oh, right. Thanks! Turns out NTotSC is in there, and I can see a BP-BGT-WORLDMAP, so I have some sort of worldmap thing going on.

Spoiler

I propose you try this:

Download

Extract to the BG2EE folder and run the exe just like for any other mod.

The following 4 EET components are selectable for BG2EE (no EET) but are not actually compatible with it:

Component: Familiar death consequences -> Disabled
Component: More bandit scalps
Component: Import party items to SoA
Component: Key Ring

Your observations reflects what is actually stated in the EET_Tweaks readme components description.

The restrictions will be added to the BWS selection.

Thank you for your report.

It doesn't work before 1 file is detected, which is hugely easy to work around. The rest of the installation process worked fine just yesterday.

Not sure if english is your first language Roxanne.

But you use "do not blame the messenger"  when you have nothing to do with the actual subject and only supply information.

When I look at the BWS https://bitbucket.or...p/bigworldsetup I am seeing that these commits are done by you.

So again, that is not how you should handle a software project with actual endusers.

Are you saying that you did a successful and playable BGT install within the last two weeks with BWS?

Still throwing an error.

Yes, thanks, does with mine as well.

The issue was caused by saving BWS\BiG World Setup\Config\BG2EE\Game.ini using UTF-8 with BOM encoding.Alien is just now fixing it.
