#577552 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 14 May 2015 - 10:55 AM in Mega Mod Help

20150302 contains a link to Version 1.01, which had to be patched with BW Textpack to have an English version.
EET and Master point to 2.00b 150212 and has a built in translation, so Textpack does not contain it any more.
Thus the old download version will always fail to provide an English install.

So please don't use the old download. but
Master or EET, which is more current but is used for testing and may not be as stable as Master.

Uhm, it's not really that tricky. You either open Config\BWP\Game.ini, search for the conflicts description you want to remove and delete that line.
Any simple text-editor can do that.

Or edit the dependencies via Options > Admin > Manage dependencies, search for the mods name / description > right-click the entry, delete it and save via Options-menu.

Reading the faq in the docs-folder or using the built-in editor via the options-menu (in the selection-screen).

If it crashes with an Autoit Error window and saying Line XY File bla: Line Error: Array variable has incorrect dimension or something like that, run the BWS with the DebugMode vbs-file.
Let it crash and then let it modify the code to get some more info about used variables. Then try to do the same and let it crash again and post the output.
Also I would not spend to much time to customize if it crashes anyway and try to export after just a few changes. Successful exports should have around 18 KB upwards.

I did not read that carefully here and I'm not as keen to fix errors as I was some years ago, so please don't expect fixes soon if you post them.

If I encountered so many problems with the BWS like you, I'd just threw it away and tried to use the BiG World install batch.
You could tried to install some mod that gives you crashes and try to resume the install though. The BWS would recognize that it's installed and skip that mod.
I also think that it should run on Windows 8.1 as some forum users said that it works, don't have it to confirm it though.

I'm also out of the mods configuration madness, so I won't/can't answer anything related to that and I just won't update the master-branch.
Actually playing some games / watching film is so much more fun than struggling to keep up with the BWP / fixing stuff. Sorry for being honest and not much help here. ;)

Ask Leonardo, he got those three versions in his guide. It just was some topic of head scratching back then.
First is outdated, second seems to be ok for BGT installs and 6.91 is greyed out, but I don't remember what that should reflect. Guess it's not as "solid" as the other version.
Being translated also was an issue back then.

Posted by dabus on 25 September 2015 - 09:24 AM in Mega Mod Help

You can click the item and see the text below the listview. You will see the "key/description at the beginning, ending at the colon.
Example: "Have Kagain in BG2 and ToB: BG1NPCSoA (component 40 or 41) and BG1NPCSoA (component 110) are installed together."

Look if you can find the dependency in your selection screen. In this example, BG1NPCSoa does not contain component 110.
If you can find it, just remove the faulty dependency.

There is a big section in the BiG World Setup\Config\BWPGame.ini called [Connections]. All dependencies and conflicts are listed there.
The key of each entry is the description that will be shown at the bottom of the selection-screen. The value of the keys is quite flexible but has a simple system so most settings may be covered.
Example: Have Kagain in BG2 and ToB=D:BG1NPCSoA(40|41)&BG1NPCSoA(110)

Delete the line and restart the BWS and the dependency will be removed from the BWS if you wish to continue your install.

Look at the docs\Faq.htm for further details if you'd need Imps solution.

There's an internal table, linking the treeview-items that you click in the GUI to a modname, component and so on.
The internal dependency table also uses those. It's just speeds up the checking if you know that Sarah is treeview-item 300 and it needs ROT which is item 199 and you don't have to check which of the 3000 items represents Sarahs or the ROT mod.

If the BWS lists dependencies and the result for a mods name does not return a name but an empty string, the GUI-item was not linked / built (or something else is messed up).
The issue for a missing item is most likely that the dependency does not fit your language selection and so I put this in so you don't start to look for something that most likely is not there.

You can click the item and see the text below the listview e.g. Sandrah's Extensions needs Kivan: SandrahNPC (component 11) needs Kivan (component 100).
If you go back you should not be able to find that dependency (component / mod).

If you can find it, remove the dependency and go on. I can load your selection and go on without this issue.

@Argent77:

--spider is used to get the size and name of the download without downloading the file.
This check is done when testing / looking for available downloads and right before a download. It's just to get the name and size right so I get corrupted downloads that broke in the middle or updated file-information if a php-download points to a new version of a file.
If the file-check fails, I assume that downloading will fail, too.

If it's the same file (I guess it is...), we could use https://github.com/A...chive/v1.0.zip.

The output looks much better:
Spoiler

As you can see, the file is found and my function detects

DjinniCompanion-1.0.zip (-> filename)
22013781 (-> filesize)
0 ( -> no resume)

Edit: Meh, not exactly the same. Why can't nerds produce stuff that works with nerdy tools. :ermm:

As long as the components are not listed in Select.txt, nothing will happen.
The BWS will even skip puttin the info into WeiDU-XX.ini or Mod.ini, so you won't find them in the BWP-folder. Use the FAQ to find out how to add them.
Or just install them manually after hitting the pause button. That's usually easier than adding the mod (it's not hard, but it will take a few minutes which is more then pressing a pause-button..

Use an editor like notespad to open C:\Games\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\BiG World Setup\Includes\07_Extract.au3.
Search for For $n = $DirList[0] To 1 Step -1 and replace it with For $n = $DirList[0] To 3 Step -1.
I thought that was already replaced some time ago...

Edit: Error and fix was reported here.
You did not update the 7z yourself?

#575264 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 07 February 2015 - 08:34 AM in Mega Mod Help

Well if you still got the errors, I'd restore the backup and and let the BiG World Installpack do the installation.
I don't have Windows 8.1 to reproduce this and I don't know if your PC is blocking something or was configured that way (e.g. the PC not able to run vbs-files).

All I can tell you is that BWS uses the cmd-entries to install fix/smooth/textpacks and so on, which wouldn't get applied if these fail, and that would be a load of unnecessary (and already fixed) faults. So either redo the install as it was and stop before the real install starts and start the BiG World Installpack yourself (start the cmd as admin and navigate into the games directory) or go back, switch to the installpack-option and let that go through.

#575134 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 01 February 2015 - 05:35 AM in Mega Mod Help

Why would you download those files yourself? The purpose of the BWS is to do that for you. (I mean, you can do it, but I view it as more work.)
Including extraction and installation. If you want to install via BiG World Installpack (batch-files), you select that, or you stay with the BWS approach to install and be able to select you components by clicking through a GUI.

Edit: @Alien: I don't think that the approach is much different for Andy since it seems like he already selected mods one way or the other and must have spent some time to select those. And if you think about having groups like in the batch, you can either just let the components-tree closed or if there's something new (like the adult question ages ago). you (as in Alien) could create groups to ease the selection of that group.

But I also think that you should use the things you're comfortable with.

#574406 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 29 December 2014 - 11:47 AM in Mega Mod Help

As you can see, the 7zip puts some performance-stuff onto the screen. That wasn't the case before.
If the mods tp2-file was not found in the usual places, the BWS used to look through these lines that are currently displayed and checked if a subfolder was created. It does that by looking for the OK-line and move up two lines. Since the "Everything is Ok"-line is at the top, the BWS cannot move up two lines and thus errors out (arrays are cool but fragile - if the index-number is beyond the existing range, AutoIt3 crashes).

Edit: If you can't get rid of that, I'd suggest to add the red text in Includes\12_Process.au3, line 266.
This way, lines that contain [space]Time[space]=[space] would be ignored when processing commands.
If StringRegExp($OutputArray[$o], '(?i)\sTime\s\x3d\s|Tiles processed|% decoded|%]|\A(Tile|Pos:|\s?Oggdec|\sEncoder|\sSerial|\sBitstream|\sScale|\sDecoded|\sEncoded)\s') Then ContinueLoop; cmd itself

#576452 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

@dragonian:
Dunno, I still see them.
If you search for BP(, you'll get 80 hits. I don't know if that's less than you expected. So what you're doing / selecting / looking for?
Just a hunch: If you just clicked next, you're in a BG:EE game...

@Creepin:
"Normal" downloads get packed every now and then (like after a new BWP release).
Master is the current snapshot branch that fixes errors / adds stuff on a regular basis.
EET is the master-snapshot plus EET-support. It was some testing/development involved and EET is still beta because of the water colour-issue and the "go" from the author is pending. So until then, you could technically install EET with the BWS, but since EET was removed from the configuration, you can't do that. ;)
GLOBAL-INI was a testing branch for moving mod-configurations into a global-folder. It's just to prevent multiple instances of the same information since the BWS does not only install BWP but EE1 and EE2 and so on, so mods like scs, atweaks don't have to be maintained 4 or 5 times if something new comes up. It's more a internal thing that you should not notice much. It takes a few seconds to create the old formatted files in the folders if you select a game for the first time, but that's all. It was merges into the master branch already.

You can add the components when you're in the selection screen. Dump the mod into the BG2-folder, choose Options > Admin > components.
A new screen appears and you can choose the Divine Remix at the top. Then choose the translation at the bottom and copy and paste the French translation from left to right screen. by selecting all entries and using the shortcut [STRG]+[C). Save with [STRG]+[s) and restart the BWS.
Or add this to the WeiDU-FR.ini

Spoiler

But as I write this, I see that there's a difference between the mods versions, so you'll also have to adjust select.txt (which can also be done with the build in editor...).
Seems like install spells was stripped and a new core-component went in...

#576319 BiG World Setup (an attempt to update the program)

Posted by dabus on 31 March 2015 - 09:03 AM in Mega Mod Help

1) Maybe just missed it. BWS contains 640 mods, so that would be possible.

2) BWP guide says not to since it would be not compatible wit BGT.

3) That is an "init"-entry for following multiple-choice(s), but it has a different "setting" as the others, so it shows up in a different area.
Open your games select.txt look for BG1NPC and this will fix it.
MUC;bg1npc;Init;05;1111;
MUC;bg1npc;29;05;1111;
MUC;bg1npc;30;05;0000;

Or you can try the build in editor and change it that way.

The mod does crash even if you do a manual install if you do it the same way as sir did it.

start gavin-setup.exe
install component 0 (Romance)
exit the gavin-setup
start gavin-setup.exe
Install component 1 (mature content)
bang.

It does install if I select both options in one go...
Here's the output. (Sorry for the format, forum use some of those letters in brackets that are in my output.
