What is Included

This mod adds a (very unusual) merchant to the docks area of your game. You can find her in front of the Temple of Ohgma. The store works the same as any other merchant, just talk to her and you will have the option of buying her merchandise.

She sells some strange merchandise. Some of it is overpowered, some is impractical. There are complete descriptions of everything that she sells later on in this document.

Installation Instructions

Version 2.0 of the Unusual Oddities Shop is not compatible with previous versions. Please remove all files related to The Unusual Oddities Shop v1.8 or earlier that may be present on your computer before proceeding further with these instructions.

The Unusual Oddities Shop is distributed as a self-extracting archive (or as a ZIP file for Mac OS X users - See Mac OS X Specific Instructions). To install the mod, first run the installer. The installation program will search your registry and automatically locate your BG2 folder but you can change this location to something else if you prefer. Please note that dialog.tlk and chitin.key must be present in the destination folder for the installation to proceed further. Click on the install button once the destination is correct. All files will be extracted and the WeiDU installer will be run.

If you have experience with WeiDU mods, then you can safely skip this step. The Unusual Oddities Shop uses an identical compiler to all other WeiDU mods. The installer will first update any older versions of WeiDU that exist in your BG2 directory. If the program closes itself at this point, you will need to run setup-AbyStore.exe in your BG2 main directory. Otherwise, select your favorite language and allow the installation to proceed.

To install The Unusual Oddities Shop at a later date, double-click on setup-AbyStore.exe found in your BG2 directory. From there, select your favorite language and answer the questions as they arise.

Mac OS X Specific Instructions: Extract the ZIP archive to your main BG2 directory. This directory must contain dialog.tlk and chitin.key. After the mod has been extracted, double-click on setup-AbyStore.COMMAND to start the installation process. From here, follow the same installation procedures as the PC users.

Uninstallation

Run setup-AbyStore.exe again. You will have the option to uninstall the mod.

Compatibility Concerns

This mod is compatible with all WeiDU mods and may be installed before, after, in-between, or without any of them. If you wish to install a non-WeiDU mod (such as the original Ascension or TDD) then install those must be installed before The Unusual Oddities Shop.

Bugs

There are no known bugs. If you discover one, e-mail it to me at rastor@rpgdungeon.net. Put Bug Report into the header line and I'll look into the issue.

Frequently Asked Questions (Spoilers)

Q: Where can I find Abysima?
A: Abysima can be found in the Athkatla Docks district, very near to the Temple of Oghma.

Q: How powerful are the items that Abysima sells?
A: It varies depending on the item. I suggest that you take a look at the items yourself and do not purchase anything that you feel unbalances the game. You can view a list of the items just below and decide for yourself.

Q: Does this mod add any new fights to the game?
A: No.

Q: Does Abysima's inventory change throughout the game?
A: Not at present. I may add this feature into the mod at a later point, though.
