I hate that word. It's SPELLED. Stupid British. (No offense to the British - some of my good friends are limey gits. But you guys have some WIERD spellings. Like Aluminium.)

Since all other versions of English are offshoots of English (International) we can't have weird spellings, only other versions can.

btw Quitch did we reach a verdict here on Pinkie's sexuality? Or are you just having fun watching us squabble?

Since I haven't finished RtW yet this discussion is as valid now as it was when it started.

Quitch has a point here. You are basically forgetting that the english language was originated in England (DUH). So the British version IS the right one :D And you americans are the one who're getting it wrong :D

Hence why my comment was a joke. I know quite a bit about the origins of the English Language, blah blah blah.

Anyhoo... If I could think of a comment that would add to the discussion of Imoens Sexuality, beyond the post I have already made, then I would. But I can't. So I shan't.

So. SPOON.

So, I think Imoen is... CHARNAME-sexual. I don't think it's possible for her to be interested in any other NPC, she's dedicated her life to CHARNAME.

View Post

I would somewhat agree in that <CHARNAME> was a very important part of her life from the beginning of the game. Her attachment was strong enough to cause her to leave Candlekeep and to stick with the character despite having no obligation to do so. They weren't raised together per se, but they were close enough to become best friends (at least in Imoen's mind), whatever differences they might have developed. It's entirely possible that the affection that Imoen feels for the character could develop into romantic affection, whatever Imoen's gender preference, but even that is not founded upon outright declarations within the original game.

Can Imoen feel attracted to males? Dialogue with Haer Dalis indicates that she can. Can Imoen feel attracted to females? Unlike the previous question, there is no outright answer. Given the differences in perspective that can arise within the game (gender of <CHARNAME>) and assumptions concerning alluded issues in dialogue, such as with Sarevok (i.e. is he referring to secret desires toward <CHARNAME>?), perhaps leaving it up to the player to decide this would be best from a roleplaying standpoint as so much of the game is dependent upon the player's choices concerning character class, gender, alignment, and so forth in creating the main character. So, why not gender preference as well? Might an early player response be used to decide Imoen's preference?

Of course not. Neither homosexuality, nor lesbianism is broached in any significant way in this saga. And do not insult me by mentioning the prostitutes/courtesans as a supposed example of Bioware being all-inclusive.

Poor little Imoen. Caught in her narrow game world.

She can be whatever we want her to be, can she not? But what is she.

I'm not sure how valid the argument about her sexuality is. After all, just how much of a sexual relationship would really develop? She is a young woman who has experienced incredible trauma. If I know Quitch, she will probably experience a bit more.

Would she actually reach out to anyone in that way? If this mod puts her in this situation, I'd have to agree that she would be charname-sexual. She is closer to and safer with no one else.
...I long to hear her moan

Can't read through 27 pages of replies, so I'll just make a quick summary of my points, which have most likely already been done to death (sorry).

1) Sarevok's line hinting at Imoen's unrequited love for the PC occurs whatever the gender of the PC. This would indiciate bisexuality.
2) Imoen's reaction to the dryads. It doesn't express any outright desire, but "I used to dream of dryads and their beautiful dreams" could be interpreted as having sexual connotations. This would indicate bi/lesbian.
3) Various slight flirts with male NPCs... Keldorn... Nothing that removes all doubt springs to mind, but it could be construed as indication of some attraction to the males. Meaning Straight/Bi.
4) As already mentioned by others, it being unthinkable for Bioware to actually put in any alternate sexuality NPCs, evidence for Imoen not being straight is likely to be very hard to find.
5) Imoen seems to be quite wise, possibly due to all the trauma she's been through, and strikes me as the sort who, when finding love (I assume, if this mod were to have a romance in it, it would involve love, rather than a cheap one night stand (Though, in the spirit of freedom to which Quitch seems very dedicated, you never know...)), would not let gender stand in her way.
6) Sexuality is fluid, so just putting her in one of three categories limits things, a little. For example... Imoen could be mostly straight - but for the heroic, caring, and Charisma = 18 PC, well, she may think again.
7) She is quite young, and it doesn't seem she's had much experience of romance - so perhaps Imoen herself still doesn't know? In which case, it would be a case of the mod-maker's whim.

I'd say put her as bi. It seems to fit her, for some reason. A 'vibe' she gives off. And, of course, it's less likely to inconvenience others wanting to play a character of a certain gender for another reason.

I'd just like to mention that, either way Imoen's sexuality goes, she might be romantically interested in people she, you know, isn't related to. There's no reason to assume this question is necessarily in the context of "Imoen's romance with CHARNAME."

Well... I remember her showing some (very minor and not necessarily serious) signs of interest/appreciation about Keldorn and Haer'Dalis.

(No big deal, but still, she never shows anything that could be interpreted as "sexual/romantic interest" towards the girls, iirc)

I've got to agree with you there.
Then again... Imoen walks a very thin line between playfulness, being as "HOT" as a nymph, and confused as to what she should prefer, women? men? demons/tieflings?

Oh boy, fond memories of days "long past..."

Consider even if your father was different would u romance with your sister (daughter of your mother)?

Does really make a difference (Bhaal being ex-God I mean)? I think this is also not moral.

just adding, it would technically prove more of a problem as opposed to having the same father and different mothers since in one case your father passed on the Y chromosome to you and the X to his daughter therefore not sharing any genetic component with your half sister. (probably, dunno that much about genetics really, just seems kinda logical)
whereas you could have received both the same X chromosomes from your mother.

(and i kinda gave up on reading through the whole thread after this quote, so i ll jump right to my conclusion)

i will not argue her sexual orientation based on her character or any pseudo scientific crap (its fiction after all) but from a narrative perspective. it is a more interesting endeavor to have her bi-sexual i.e. hetero or homo depending on what kind of a gender you chose, it would be possible to implement an either brother/sister complex. which given that charname is everything she has in this world isnt as far stretched. i mean, what would imoen do if she wasnt travelling with you?
