Those of you who know me may know I have postcountophobia. So I thought I'd at least make it stand for something and have an excuse to get it over with. Ladies and gentlemen, this is 1500.

Human female with light armour



This was in my opinion the most horrible animation in the game. I am hesitant to provide before screenshots, but if you insist you may click here. I never never equipped leather armour when playing as a human.

I still don't know what went wrong there. The less said the better, perhaps.

Human female with chainmail



You may or may not remember BG1's sparkly chainmail. I loved it so it's officially back.

Actually, I knew I had to do this when I was going through the paperdolls and couldn't bear to look at the chainmail mini-skirt anymore. I mean, come onnnn*. So now this is my favourite.

(* besides, I think it looks much prettier this way, so there.)

Same as the one above, this one has paperdoll images too. They really are just quick patches of the ones I already had, but I think they're okay, considering.


I wanted to release this on the first of November, but it wasn't meant to be. I forgot how much time taking screenshots and putting things together takes. So I spent an entire day doing that (it's a long story actually). I even finally got proper screenshots for the unarmoured one - see above! I'll include them with the file if I ever get around to it. I meant to take screenshots of all the paperdolls (since you have different ones for fighters and clerics and there's half-orcs too) buut I suppose I didn't. I just picked one at random for each

I feel like I had a lot more to say, but somehow I managed to forget all of it (Edith is my friend).

I will grab these and update the 'full install' package based on what you have there, if you want - I have some stuff to do for the bigg, but can try to get that out by this weekend - can you toss up your preferred install order of existing components? Add these directly into the top of the order with the other avatar fixes, or set them up as separate components?

Here are two more:

Human female unarmoured sorceress (she's so NOT a mage )



For some reason, the unarmoured mage animation has a leather skirt (or an apron, more like ) in BG2. No one knows why. It'd be fine for it to have its own colour, but you can't set your leather colour and obviously 'no robe' won't do it for you. The standard colours are... well, not very suitable on player characters and even worse for some NPCs (Nalia ). So... no more having to edit your savegames to set the colour to something more pleasant! The animation was a little messy as well, it had miscoloured pixels flickering around the sleeves. Add some other minor changes and we have this ^

Human female with light robe



Just a minor face-lift of the non-cloak robe animation. Or not. Since it looked kind of similar to the fixed unarmoured one now I went ahead and added a trim as seen in the paperdoll or BG1. Not entirely happy with it, but it's okay. You can tell I took way too many screenshots (I have no idea why that's happening) so it took forever and looks a little cramped up there. But I love the purple sparkly one

Human female cleric with plate mail




One main issue I had with the plate mail animations was that they were too flat, the metal being generally very bright. It was also everywhere, which made them look even more bland. Baldur's Gate I, having discernable chain mail, solved that problem rather nicely. While still in the same colour, the armour is divided into chain mail and actual armour plates - which makes sense if you'd like to retain some semblance of movement.

I guess it's a question of taste.

Human female fighter with plate mail




I actually like how this one turned out a lot. It's more detailed than the cleric one, especially on the legs, so it took more work to fix it but I think it was definitely worth it. The plate guards just looked odd on solid metal. It had the same issue with the lighting, so that's fixed as well. There was also a lot of wonkiness with miscoloured pixels (see the random black pixels on the originals in the comparison).
