Hi :)

I'm testing Check the Bodies for translating in italian language... 8)

I've a problem with a Melynda quest...

I've found Melynda in the Copper Coronet and her not speak to me...only smiles sadly, then I've sold the parchment (in Waukeen promenade) and I'm returned to Melynda but she doesn't talk to me, only smiles sadly :(

I'm gone also in Government District and I've met two Cowled Wizard but my character can to say only:

@4 = ~Might you help me? I have an interest in those taken by the Cowled Wizards.~
@5 = ~Then I'll be on my way.~
@7 = ~I've heard something about a war between the Shadow Thieves and someone else. Do you know anything about that?~

......

then I've read this topic :woot:
http://www.shsforums...p...&hl=Melynda
and I've used: CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("CBMelindaSilenced","Global",1)
The quest seemed to start and melynda' dialogue worked well.

My question is: why "Melynda quest" starting only with CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("CBMelindaSilenced","Global",1), It's a hard bug???

I would like to know why, when I speak at the two cowled wizards in the Government District also before
CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("CBMelindaSilenced","Global",1) not start this dialogue of "CBSCCW01.tra"?:

@1 = ~We know all about you, <GABBER>. Your mastery of magic has not gone unnoticed by us.~

There is another "CLUAConsole" for to start this dialogue or I've missed something.....

Thanks ^_^

Hello Ilot!

The quest should work fine without the global command. One variation is to talk to the Cowled wizards first and they say to search for a girl named Melanie, Melissa or something similar to the girl's name. I can't be exact but they just give a hint. Then it makes sense from this point of view.

After getting Melynda to acknowledge you then you get the hint to find some parchment. The quest order works best in this order because you get the background of the girl from the wizards.

I will try to look at the dialogs as well and see if I can make these checks a little stronger.

Can you test the quest again in the order I mentioned just to make sure it makes sense for you?

EDIT2: That could only be one variation. If talking to Melynda first you have to talk to her about 10 times (or more) to finally get to the parchment option so she can write down her concerns. State 23 of CBSCHOOK.DLG is where she will finally gives the scribbled note. There are no checks for this in her dialog Global("CBMelindaSilenced","Global",1) only in one of the Cowled's dialogs. The two cowled wizards have different dialogs and sometimes they alternate or you will talk to a different one through the quest.
This variation of the quest involves you finding the wizards next opposite of the first variation I gave.

Third variation is kill the wizards and if this is accomplished, Melynda should disappear from the Copper Coronet.

Can you test all of these variations Ilot?

Many thanks again for your attention to detail 8)

The quest worked fine for me. I visited Melynda in the Copper Coronet, then talked to the two Cowled Wizards, and then spoke again to Melynda. But you must have two items to free her: a parchment and a vellum.

Hi, Hoppy :)

I will test all variations, and then I report you :new_thumbs:

Thank you for your suggestion Graoumf, but I have sold both a parchment and a vellum ^_^
But have you tried spoke to Cowled Wizards before enter in Copper Coronet?

It should work both ways from what I remember and logically it makes sense either talking to Melynda first or the Cowled wizards first as both paths ask you to solve the mystery of what is happening just from different points of view.

Well, I've tried ALL situations (I think) about Melynda quest from point of view of "Cowled Wizards".

Here is:

1. I've gone directly to District Government before enter in Copper Coronet and without a parchment and a vellum:
The dialogue CBSCCW01.tra string @1 NOT start

2. I've gone directly to District Government before enter in Copper Coronet and with a parchment and a vellum:
The dialogue CBSCCW01.tra string @1 NOT start

3. I've gone in Copper Coronet without talk with Melynda and without a parchment and a vellum and after to the
"Cowled Wizards": The dialogue CBSCCW01.tra string @1 NOT start

4. I've gone in Copper Coronet, I've talked to Melynda (her "only smiles sadly") without a parchment and a
vellum and after to the "Cowled Wizards": The dialogue CBSCCW01.tra string @1 NOT start

5. I've gone directly to District Government before enter in Copper Coronet and without a parchment and a
vellum but with CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("HiredByCowled","GLOBAL",1) and the dialogue
CBSCCW01.tra string @1 START :whistling:

I've installed only BGT 1.07, BG2Fixpack and Check the Bodies ver. 1.11 :crying:
My Character is Mage and Female.

Why, don't "unblock" my variable?????????!!!!!!!

I have tried this way, and it worked well (I also had to speak to the girl a least 5 times before she "reacts").

Well, have you others mods than CtB and BG2 Fixpack?

The Cowled wizards (CtB) will have nothing to do with your character unless you:

1) Have been hired by Tolgerias to find Valygar

or

2) Paid the license fee to cast spells

After one of these two original game variables are set, the Cowls (CtB) will hire you.

Have you done those things Ilot? The global checks are in the dialog file that you are currently looking into.

:D

EDIT: I was wrong about possiblystarting the quest through Melynda because starting the quest with the Cowled wizards just asks to find her, not any information about her being silenced. The silenced part is from her point of view and then you confront the cowls with that.

Still the another path exists if you kill the Cowled Wizards, she should disappear from the Copper Coronet. That should be examined.

You are right Hoppy :new_thumbs:
It's true!!!

1. I have been hired by Tolgerias to find Valygar and the dialogue with Cowled Wizards START (you must insist 2 times with the Grey Wizard (in my case there are 1 wizard grey and 1 wizard brown) :woot:

2. I have cannot paid the license because (in my case) the first quest that Tolgeiras gave me is to find Valygar
and he have not speak about the license!

3. I've killed the Cowled Wizards and Melynda disappear from the Copper Coronet. It's very hard to kill the
two Cowled Wizards because after 1/2 seconds appears others Cowled Wizards and after 1/2
others,...is impossible ti kill everyone, also with CTRL+Y therefore you have need to kill the two
"Cowled Wizards" immediately.

The Cowled Wizards path is solved!!!! Thank you very much!!!!!!

But in my case, now, remain only Melynda that not speak to me in the case that I not hire by Cowled Wizards, and I go to the Copper Coronet. I have tried to talk her at least 20 times...
Do you think that I must continue to try speak her?

My Character not want speak with Melynda -_-

That is one of two options for the quest and we needed to make sure it was cool. Thanks for testing it.

I was wrong before about getting the quest started with Melynda as one option. The only normal path for this quest is to talk with the Cowls first. I edited one of my posts but you may not have seen it.

Yes, or if you can cast spells via the license then the Cowled Wizards for this quest will have some sort of trust or have heard of your PC.
