Something that came to my mind the other day, when I was poundering which priest should I take along with the group this time...

Please be kind, this is the first ever NPC I have been writing this far

Miella (pronounced Me-ellah, el as in elder, la as in Las Vegas)

Human
Neutral Good
Priest of <god?s name here> - I'll have to go through the gods a bit, I guess (any help appreciated)

STR 14
DEX 15
CON 13
INT 9
WIS 18
CHA 14

(Total: 83)

When asked about her past, Miella states that there is nothing peculiar about it (or her). She is one of the daughters of a wealthy merchant from Trademeet. Her parents still reside there, and she has two older sisters and a younger brother. Her sisters are married and they go-own a small jewelry shop, and her brother is following the footsteps of their father and will hopefully take over his business someday.

Even as a young girl Miella knew she would want to worship <god?s name here>. Her parents weren?t thrilled at first, but at the time she became old enough to decide over her own life, they couldn?t stop her from choosing a path to become a priest of <god?s name here>. They accepted the fact, and supported their daughter?s decision.

Miella is very affectionate person, who loves her parents and siblings dearly. She is also very much dedicated worshipper of <god?s name here>, and she is also very loyal to her friends. Her basic character is calm and supporting, but when she has enough reason, she can be fierce. This is mostly due to either someone mocking her god or misusing her trustful nature. She is the one who will be the first to give a shoulder to cry on, if it is needed.

There will possibly be a sideguest concerning her brother, and a minor guest about her sisters? jewelry shop and/or their children. And knowing myself, there might be a romance, either with the PC or someone else... (nothing decided yet).

Miella?s reaction toward few of the original NPCs

Minsc: Miella will like Minsc, because he is so straightforward and honest. And because he has Boo ;) - Miella used to have a pet rabbit when she was a child.

Mazzy: Miella knows Mazzy by reputation, but has never actually met her before. She will usually like Mazzy, but she thinks she is a bit too much into this paladin thing. In Miella?s opinion one must be humble while serving one?s god. She admire?s Mazzy?s dedication, though.

Valygar: Miella values Valygar?s quiet disposition and his knowledge of nature. She doesn?t share his views over magic though, and tries to persuade him to think of it more positively.

Anomen: Miella feels sorry for this poor man, who?s father has kind of abandoned him and whose mother has died. She does kind of understand his pompous attitude, she thinks it is due to his traumatic childhood. She will have couple of serious conversations with him, though maybe she tries to understand him too much at times...

Nalia: Usually Miella will get along with Nalia guite well, though she feels that it is her duty to guide her in dangers of the world and to point her to the right direction.

Cernd: Miella is appalled by the thing that Cernd has abandoned his wife, and that he didn?t even knew he had a son, though she will say few words about his wife as well, because she thinks that she should have told Cernd about her pregnancy. Otherwise she can?t quite understand Cernd?s long sentences and often complicated language.

Korgan: Miella doesn?t get along with Korgan. He will propably mock her church and god at some point, and there might be consequences.

Edwin: Miella thinks that Edwin is too bright for his own good, and that reading too much will someday become his doom...

Haer?dalis: For some reason Miella finds Haer?dalis guite likeable person, even though he is a bit too flamboyant and dandy sometimes. But he makes Miella laugh.

I will think of more reactions later on.

For me at least, understanding the ethos they follow is a big part of understanding a Priest, Paladin or Druid. Waukeen (missing at the time of BG1&2) is the patron of Trademeet. She sees fair and honest trade as the path to prosperity for all, and feels that such trade should benefit all involved. A priestess of Waukeen might give coin to a beggar, but would either do so while suggesting that the beggar "pass it on" when he could, or would "hire" the beggar for some minor task in exchange for the coin. Some priests of Wakeen might be greedy or materialistic, but at there best they seek prosperity and comfort for all.

You can find one good list of the 2nd Ed gods of the realms HERE.

Many thanks, Bob ^_^

I think I have found three suitable gods:

Chauntea - Goddess of Agriculture
Chauntea is a good-aligned deity, the farmer's goddess and the gardeners's patroness, and attracts many worshipppers from those close to land. She is the bitter oponent of gods of natural destruction, such as Talos and Auril.

Lliira - Goddess of Happiness & Freedom
Out Lady of Joy is a popular minor goddess, and she is becoming moreso among people throughout the Realms. She is a goddess of revelry and festivals, and her priests stress the advantages of a good life well lived.

Eldath - Goddess of Peace & Streams
A quiet goddess, Eldath, the Goddess of the Singing Water, attracts those druids, rangers, and forest creatures who prefer solitude and harmony with their world. Eldath acts in the service of the more powerful Lliira.

I think these would fit the character of Miella well. I don't think Waukeen is the best choice, and as I thought of it, it was the reason why her parents disliked the idea of their daughter to become a priest, because she didn't want to be a priest of Waukeen. Though Lliira is worshipped by the merchants too, as I read from that site.

Lliira sounds like a good choice. You can probably get some conflict between her very consevative Wakeenar parents and her own devotion to the Lady of Joy.

Looks like an interesting NPC. :)

Little bit more...

Aerie: Miella feels sorry for her, and tries to comfort her, but she also thinks that she should smile and laugh more. So she tries to cheer her up and make her feel better about herself. And if Miella is romancing the PC (not yet decided), she will try to find out how serious Aerie is about her love, and may even step aside to not to hurt her feelings even more. Though if Aerie leaves the PC after that one particular night, Miella might be persuaided to continue the romance (and if I ever learn to code that well... ;) ).

Viconia: Viconia is a kind of a riddle to Miella. She has heard of drow, but not that much. She of course thinks that they are evil, as she has been told, but Viconia interests her. Though she dislikes Viconia?s disposition and sometimes her language outright disgusts her. If Miella is romancing the PC, there will be some sparks in the air, I think.

Jaheira: Miella finds that Jaheira is also too serious and at first manages to get a few sharp comments from her, until she finds out that Jaheira?s husband has recently died. Then she understands better, and leaves her in peace. If Miella is romancing the PC, she might have a major fight with her (verbally), though it could be that Miella will loose this one, she can?t use her tongue as well as Jaheira.

If there will be romance with the PC, I am not going to write it as a standard BGII romances are written. You can be friends even if you are not romancing her, she won?t leave, she won?t sulk. She won?t romance any evil aligned PCs though, nor will she make such a good friends with them either. And she won?t romance a female PC (she?s just not lesbian or bisexual), but you can be friends with her. And I think she would romance any race, she?s not a kind of person who will look the outside, she rather looks for a kind and loyal heart.

About her religion and god, where could I find out more about Lliira? The description on the site Bob mentioned is kind of short. I know I could try to find it on my own, but I think that maybe here are people who have a lots of links to related sites

Ok, I just don't seem to let this be, so I guess I'm hooked :D

I wrote a little more last night (at 2:30 am...).

Something special from her sisters when she became a priest (and plessed by her goddess, Lliira):

A pin of Joyfull Memories

Shaped as a dancing girl or perhaps a dryad, the golden pin seems to be glowing with happy thoughts. Miella?s sisters have bought it form a Calimshite merchant who visits Trademeet once a year and always has the best stock of jewelry to buy. They gave the pin to Miella in the celebration of her becoming a priest, and at the same occasion her goddess Lliira blessed the pin with her power. From that day on it has kept the sad and frightfull thoughts away from Miella?s mind, or maybe it just helps her to deal with them better. Miella won?t be happy, if you try to take the pin away from her, nor is it usefull to anyone else, but losts its power if someone else tries to use it.

Grants Miella immunity to fear and feeblemindness

And something I wrote this morning after few hours of sleep. This is my first ever banter written for BGII (and if this NPC ever comes to be, a minor spoiler).

Banter between Miella and Salvanas:

Salvanas: Oh my fair lady, I am overwhelmed by your cracious charms, my heart pounds like thousand horses marching over the battlefield with undying passion for you.
Miella: Well that is outright unhealthy for you, my dear man. Don?t you think you should sit down and rest for a while...
Salvanas: In your arms I could feel that I need no rest nor sleep, oh my fair haired beauty. Let me express my inner feelings toward you this night, let me fill your heart with similar emotions...
Miella: All right, that?ll be enough. If you don?t stop, I am afraid I will have to fill my heart with even stronger emotions and give your heart a thrust it has never had before.
Salvanas: If that?s the way you feel, beautiful one. I shall miss you face forever more after you have gone. Oh should our hearts connect someday...
Miella: What a strange little man.

Miella's reaction toward the last two NPCs:

Imoen: Miella really doesn?t know how to react to Imoen. She herself has never been tortured in any way, and though she feels the need to help her to get over the ordeal she?s been in, she can?t quite figure out how would she be able to do it. Imoen?s way to talk lightly when she tries to have a conversation with her makes Miella feel as if Imoen wouldn?t take her seriously. Though they will have few laughs together over various issues.

Keldorn: Miella really doesn?t like paladins much. She thinks they are too dedicated to their duty and don?t have enough fun in their lives. And the way Keldorn treats his family is wrong in Miella?s mind. She is all for his wife, and gets really angry to Keldorn depending on how he reacts to the trouble in his home and family. Miella will most likely advice the PC to let Keldorn to go his own way, because he now needs to take care of his daughters.

Well, I don't want to make an overpowered NPC, and I try to make the pros of this NPC to be elsewhere than in power gaming. Since I like the role playing aspect of this game the most, it is where I'll be heading. And you can use the girdles, potions etc. to make her more powerfull. Besides, she is a priest, and has 18 in her wisdom. To my opinion, it is the most important stat for a priest (she can have a lot of spells ;) ).

But since I am already writing more banters to her, and going to get myself another computer (PC, for coding purposes...this is a revolution, nothing else has ever made me think of getting a PC, since I prefer Macs), I think this mod is on its way to become reality.

Minor SPOILER:
Her stats may change during the game. This is something I found the most irritating part of the original (BGI) game, that the stats won't change no matter what you do (f.ex. weight lifting every day). I kind of liked the idea they had for Anomen's stats changing. If I ever learn to do it, but that is too far ahead yet.

Why is her WIS 18? She sounds quite young. :)

If you're looking for deities, then Waukeen or Lliira would be good choices as have been suggested. Another possibility, though, would be Lathander.

Yes! :thumb: Friendship is a great idea!

Bioware tended to neglect relationships between female characters... Especially in the romancable 3 (actually I think they just neglected relationships between characters that didn't meet romance requirements in general). Having the ability to befriend a major NPC is always a good thing. :thumb:

About her religion and god, where could I find out more about Lliira? The description on the site Bob mentioned is kind of short. I know I could try to find it on my own, but I think that maybe here are people who have a lots of links to related sites

Lliira has always been concidered a minor deity of the Realms, and her main claim to fame at the time of BG2 (1369 DR) is that she's acting as "caretaker" for Waukeen's faithful while Waukeen is missing.

And because I'm feeling generous ;), here's Lliira's dogma...

Each day is another movement in the Elysian Rigadoon, the joyful dance of a life lived in rapture and without care or frustration. Seek joy always by working to bestow it upon others. Festivals are for all - gather into celebrations the lost, the lonely, the exiled and outlaw, the shunned, and even your foes. Let folk follow their own desires, and never fail to follow your own.

That's from the 3rd Ed book, Faiths and Pantheons... If I get the time/inclination I'll type up her dogma from the 2nd Ed Faiths and Avatars - but essentially it's the same, just more wordy ;).

Why is her WIS 18? She sounds quite young. :)

Well, actually she is not that young, though I have not decided her age yet. It will come in time, as I tend to write and create by intuition and most my characters kind of create themselves. And even if she is young, she can have high wisdom, in my opinion. Some people do, they are kind of born with it, and the way I am writing her, she is more wise than could be expected by her years (she will be under 30, that I know).

And yes, I have decided on Lliira, though I might be bending the rules a bit, or at least she won't be partying all time long :D - but she wants to bring happiness and joy around her.

And thank you Zandilar. I do have parts of the 2nd edition books (found from the net a long time ago, my husband needed them in the campaign he was in that time), but they don't include the gods.

What I have at first decided to write for her are banters, at least one or two with other Bioware NPCs, and several with the PC, and two quests and hopefully I will get her to beta stage like that. Then, depending on if I have time and enthusiasm, I will make a romance with her. Though it seems at the moment that real life is falling on me, and I will have only weekends to work with her :( . And at first there will be only SoA part on this, since I still don't have ToB and I will have to play it to get more familiar with it when I will get it, so to make her in ToB will take a long time.

I have already written two banters with the PC and one with Cernd. Though in the long run I might want some help with the banters, especially with the NPCs I usually don't have in my party when I play, like Jan and Keldorn. But for now I have enough to do deciding how she will join the party (in my opinion to join like "Hi, I would like to join" is quite strange, and I will have to find a good reason for her to join and to stay after that), and with her quests and banters between her and the PC.

There is a temple of Waukeen there. But I am planning on some sort of interlude where the PC can interfere, perhaps on the market place (after all her parents are merchants). The idea is molding in my head, hopefully I will be able to write it down soon ;)

Because Lliira had a special role in the Time of Troubles (taking on Waukeen's divinity), it might be interesting to keep in mind how old your NPC was during the Time of Troubles, and what effect, if any, the loss of connection to Lliira had on her during that time (if she was old enough to be a priestess then - if she's in her late 20s, then that's quite likely)

The Time of Troubles occured in 1358 DR... BG2:SoA occurs around 1369DR (11 years later) - so if she's 29, she'd have been 18 at the time, and possibly already a priestess. Just something to concider. :)

Could you tell more of this, I've found some more information on Lliira, but nothing of her special role during that time, unless you mean the role of taking over Waukeen's portfolio?

And I have decided on how old Miella is, I made her 25, so she is not that much older than the PC :)

And I have asked a room for her in one of the boards, I will let you know when she has settled in there. Yes, I am that serious with her :P And I have already written a lot more than can be seen here...
