The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v3.7. In summary, this revision adds a new component which slightly revises the merchant treatment of stolen goods, further improves compatibility with (Easy)TuTu and BGT, allows single-classed thieves to side with Bodhi and brings several mod components even closer to PnP AD&D. The first post in this thread has been updated with the full list of changes.

I should also note that as of this version the "Additional equipment for Thieves and Bards" is now compatible with (Easy)TuTu as well as the BG1 portion of BGT. More detailed information on this can be found here. As for the new "Revised Fences" component it basically does two things: firstly, it allows all merchants, whose dialogue implies that their wares are stolen, to buy fenced goods. Secondly, it prevents PC thieves from stealing from any merchants who can buy fenced goods in order to prevent the "steal item from merchant > sell stolen item to the same merchant > repeat for infinite money" exploit. More detailed information on that can be found here. Note: as all other parts of the Rogue Rebalancing mod, this component is completely optional and can be installed (or not) independently of any other component.

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v3.8. In summary, this revision adds the proper (PnP) Bard spell progression table as an optional component, makes some minor adjustments to the Swashbuckler thief kit, adds an option to make the bonuses from potions which increase thieving skills non-stackable, resolves the compatibility issues which previously caused the "Shadow Thief Improvements" and the "Chosen of Cyric" components to conflict with a few other mods and further improves the AI of the CoC and STI opponents. Note: it is now mandatory to start a new game after installing the Rogue Rebalancing mod, otherwise you will miss the bulk of the new content which it introduces. The first post in this thread has been updated with a full list of changes.

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v3.81. In summary, this update resolves a few compatibility issues with other mods and fixes several minor bugs. Here's the full list of changes:

Core component changes:
  • The "Revised Thievery" component can now be installed on (Easy) TuTu and Classic Adventures (Note: on those installations only the "non-stacking potions" part of the component works)
  • The Jester's innate trait "Fool's Luck" will now correctly apply the +5% bonus to the Pick Pockets skill
  • Fixed a duplicate response in one of Arledrian's dialogue branches and made some minor tweaks to his AI script
  • Fixed a duplicate response in one of Gaelan's dialogue branches
  • Greagan's Harp was erroneously usable by Monks
Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:
  • Fixed a bug which could sometimes prevent Venduris, Grok and Bodak from becoming invisible during one of the encounter resolution cutscenes
  • Fixed a bug which sometimes prevented Grok from switching between his weapons
  • Resolved a minor incompatibility issue with the Improved Anvil mod
Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • Resolved some minor script conflicts which could previously occur when other AI-enhancing mods were installed. For example, several Shadow Thief opponents were unintentionally getting additional potions from both "Shadow Thief Improvements" and "Sword Coast Stratagems II". This has been fixed, and they will now only receive one set of potions
  • Fixed a bug which could cause the Spell Sequencer cast by a Zhentarim Mercenary to crash the game under rare circumstances
  • Fixed a bug in Aran Linvail's AI script which could occasionally cause him to stand idle for a short while
  • Made some minor script tweaks
Note: if you currently have Rogue Rebalancing v3.8 installed then you won't have to start a new game after updating to v3.81. Otherwise, starting a new game is required in order for all components to work properly.

Happy holidays everyone! :) The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v3.82. In summary, this small maintenance update resolves a few compatibility issues with other mods, fixes several minor bugs and further enhances the AI scripts of all characters which are altered or introduced by this mod. Here's the full list of changes:

Core component changes:
  • Fixed a bug which could trigger some of the NPC interjections at the wrong places in Arledrian's and Marina's dialogues in case other mods had previously altered them
  • Giving a potion to Arledrian while he is wounded will no longer deplete an entire stack of potions of the same type
  • Slightly revised the saving throw penalties of the Bounty Hunters' Special Snares
  • Main readme updated to SHS format
Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:
  • During the cutscene at the City Gates the party's spell protections were dispelled a few seconds before Venduris had actually started his incantation. This has been fixed and the dispelling will now occur precisely at the intended time
  • Fixed a bug in Zaeron's script which could occasionally prevent him from attacking valid targets. Furthermore, Zaeron will no longer request Bodak's aid if Bodak has already been killed
  • If any of the Chosen of Cyric characters become charmed or feebleminded Bodak will attempt to remove the effect by targeting them with Arrows of Dispelling
  • In case Venduris, Zaeron or Bodak become blinded they will no longer attempt to hide in shadows while they are still within the visual range of the party
  • The stun chance of the Stormcharged Axe has been reduced to 10% and its electrical damage bonus was reduced to 1d3 points per hit
  • Selina and Zaeron's Spell Sequencers have been slightly revised in order to put more emphasis on protection and defense
  • Made some minor AI tweaks
Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • The Shadow Thieves guarding the captured informant on the top floor of the guildhall have been slightly repositioned. It is now possible to sneak past them and reach Palern unnoticed should you prefer a stealth approach. Once you get to Palern, you can help him escape without alarming the guards by either giving him a Potion of Invisibility or by casting an Invisibility spell on him
  • Blinded Shadow Thieves will no longer attempt to hide in shadows while they are still within the visual range of the party
  • It is no longer possible to receive the bonus XP for stealing Gaelan's key if he has already been killed
  • Removed a few superfluous ambient sound references from the guildhall basement area script
  • The Spell Sequencers of several Shadow Thief spellcasters have been slightly revised in order to put more emphasis on protection and defense
  • Added an incompatibility warning message which prevents the installation of this component in case the "Check the Bodies" mod is detected
  • Made some minor AI tweaks
Note: if you currently have Rogue Rebalancing v3.8 or v3.81 installed then you won't have to start a new game after updating to v3.82. Otherwise, starting a new game is required in order for all components to work properly.

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v3.91. In summary, this minor update improves the compatibility with the "EasyTutu" and "Beyond the Law" mods, fixes a few small bugs and updates Detectable Spells to the most recent version. Here's the full list of changes:

Core component changes:
  • Resolved a conceptual incompatibility issue between the "Additional equipment for Thieves and Bards" component of Rogue Rebalancing and the "Beyond the Law" mod. In order to prevent the incompatibility, Arledrian's new quest which is introduced by Rogue Rebalancing will not occur if Kova or Kiyone are in the party
  • Some G3 BG2 Fixpack content was erroneously mirrored on EasyTutu installations through Rogue Rebalancing. This will no longer occur as EasyTutu already contains those fixes
  • Fixed some minor cosmetic issues with the Mass Charm, Enthralling Melody and Sound Burst HLAs
  • Reduced the "casting" range of the Bounty Hunters' Special Snares to 1. In effect, this means that the Special Snares can no longer be thrown across the screen
  • The Blade's "Weapons Display" ability will no longer be affected by spell failure, dead magic and wild magic zones
  • Updated Detectable Spells to the latest available version (the same as in SCSII v7)
  • Made some minor code optimizations

Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:
  • Spell Triggers/Sequencers which contain hostile spells will now properly break the Invisibility (but not Improved Invisibility) of enemy spellcasters who employ them
  • Updated Detectable Spells to the latest available version (the same as in SCSII v7)
  • Made some minor code optimizations

Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • If the party chooses the stealth path, the alarm in the Shadow Thief guildhall basement won't be activated automatically upon entering the area. In that case, deviating from the stealth path (i.e. by taking any hostile actions and/or triggering certain traps) will raise the alarm instead
  • After he is freed, Tizzak will attempt to hide in shadows and quietly sneak out of the guildhall without alerting any opponents who may be nearby

Core component changes:
  • The Lingering Bard and Skald songs will no longer erroneously stack multiple times before expiring
  • The base price for Sparkburst has been increased
  • The compatibility with the One Pixel Productions mod has been improved. The "Legacy Shields - Bucklers" component of that mod will now be automatically detected and utilized as long as it is installed before Rogue Rebalancing
  • Updated Detectable Spells to the latest available version (the same as in SCSII v8)
Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:

  • Updated Detectable Spells to the latest available version (the same as in SCSII v8)
Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • On certain occasions, Aran Linvail's Mislead clone would remain stationary instead of running away. This issue has been rectified
  • Updated Detectable Spells to the latest available version (the same as in SCSII v8)

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v4.02. In summary, this maintenance release allows fences in BG1 areas to buy stolen goods, adds a couple of additional dialogue options during the conversations with Arledrian, Venduris and Palern and makes some minor compatibility improvements. Here's the full list of changes:

Core component changes:
  • The "Revised Thievery" component will now treat Erdane, Black Lily and Silence as fences and allow them to buy stolen goods (BG1Tutu/BGT only)
  • Cleric, Druid, Paladin and Ranger protagonists will now properly get the dialogue option to heal Arledrian with curative magic during the final conversation at the end of his quest if they have any healing spells memorized. Protagonists who possess the "Cure Light Wounds" Bhaalpower will receive a similar option regardless of their class
  • Compatibility with the "Item Revisions" mod has been improved. If the main component of "Item Revisions" is detected, Rogue Rebalancing will automatically utilize Erephine's round buckler animations and WoRm's Ioun Stone animations for its own items
  • Minor code optimizations
Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:
  • Thief protagonists with the Bounty Hunter kit will now also receive the [Tracking] dialogue option during the conversation with Venduris (this was previously restricted to Ranger protagonists)
  • The Blindstrike Bow has been slightly revised
  • Minor code optimizations

Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • The special conversation with Palern which occurs during the stealth path has been slightly expanded
  • The guard placement at the top floor of the Shadow Thief guildhall has been slightly altered in order to make the stealth path a bit more accessible
  • Alerted opponents may now hear the footsteps of invisible party members unless they have been magically silenced or have successfully made their Move Silently skill check (Note: opponents are not considered to be alerted during the stealth path). Upon hearing the footsteps, thief opponents will attempt to use their Detect Illusion skill while spellcasting opponents may try to cast a divination spell (only if they have one memorized)
  • Minor code optimizations

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v4.03. In summary, this maintenance release contains some minor bugfixes and compatibility improvements. Here's the full list of changes:

Core component changes:
  • Resolved a minor issue which could, under specific circumstances, prevent elf and half-elf protagonists from deciphering Arledrian's journal on their own
  • Using the Mass Charm HLA now properly breaks the invisibility of the caster
  • The shamblers summoned by The Guardian now use a unique soundset instead of mimicking the Earth Elemental soundset. Furthermore, the shamblers will no longer glow with overly bright colors when affected by "Protection From Evil 10' radius" and similar spells
  • The entanglement ability of the shamblers can no longer affect a single creature more than once per round. Furthermore, exceptionally large creatures (Dragons, Giants, Iron Golems) and incorporeal creatures (Shadows, Mists, Air and Fire Elementals) can no longer be entangled by the shamblers
  • The compatibility with the "Trap Cap Removal" component of BG2 Tweaks has been improved
  • Made a workaround for the compatibility issue between the "Triple-Class HLA Tables" component of G3 BG2 Tweaks and the "Thief High Level Ability revisions" component of Rogue Rebalancing. In order for the workaround to take effect, you need to install the "Thief High Level Ability revisions" component of Rogue Rebalancing after the "Triple-Class HLA Tables" component of G3 BG2 Tweaks
  • Minor code optimizations
Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:
  • Selina now uses Improved Haste rather than Spell Shield in her Chain Contingency
  • Minor code optimizations
Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • The comments which the Shadow Thief opponents make when they hear the footsteps of an invisible party member have been slightly diversified
  • When attacked repeatedly, opponents may now occasionally abandon their preferred targets and shift their focus to the attacker
  • Minor code optimizations

Core component changes:
  • Fixed a minor compatibility issue which previously prevented Bards from properly acquiring the "Avoid Death" HLA if the Refinements mod was present
  • The Spirit Warrior summoned by the Magic Flute HLA erroneously had one extra hit die added on top of his hit point total. This issue has been rectified
  • In one specific instance, Druids using The Guardian could accidentally summon two different shamblers at the same time. This issue has been rectified
  • The in-game description of the Enhanced Bard Song HLA (which is only available to True Bards) erroneously listed an AC bonus as one of the song's benefits. This issue has been rectified
  • A new GUI icon for the Summon Shambler ability of The Guardian has been added
  • Added the BETA version of the Russian translation (courtesy of the Aerie.ru team)
  • Updated the German translation

  • Updated the German translation

Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • Opponents will now recognize any shamblers summoned by The Guardian and employ appropriate measures against them

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v4.1. In summary, this minor release alters the Alchemy and Scribe Scrolls HLAs in order to make them more customizable. Characters using these abilities can now choose which potion/scroll they wish to create. Furthermore, this update gives characters a chance to talk their way out of trouble after failing to steal an item from a store. The new dialogue options which make that possible are dependant on the character's mental attributes. Here's the full list of changes:

Core component changes:
  • The Alchemy HLA has been slightly revised. Characters using this ability can now choose which potion they wish to brew. However, the raw material cost for brewing a potion must now be paid and the ability can no longer be used in a hostile environment (i.e. during combat). Furthermore, Bards can now brew certain potions that Thieves cannot and vice versa
  • The Scribe Scrolls HLA has been slightly revised. An arcane spellcaster using this ability can now scribe any spell that he can cast onto a scroll. However, the costs for any raw materials that are used in the process must be paid and the ability can no longer be used in a hostile environment (i.e. during combat)
  • The "Revised Thievery" component now gives characters a chance to talk their way out of trouble after failing to steal an item from a store. These dialogue options are dependant on the character's mental attributes

Changes to the Chosen of Cyric component:
  • Resolved a minor compatibility issue with the "Maximum HP for all creatures in the game" component of G3 BG2 Tweaks. That component previously altered the hit points of a specific character who is supposed to die during a cutscene sequence. This will no longer occur
  • Minor code optimizations

Changes to the Shadow Thief Improvements component:
  • Minor code optimizations

Changes to the Upgradeable Equipment component:
  • Cromwell can now upgrade the Keeper of the Law if you bring him a Brine Potion
  • Fixed a harmless response duplication in Cromwell's Returning Frost Dart upgrade dialogue

New in RR v4.11:

Firstly, this component will now properly prevent sleeping, helpless, feebleminded and silenced characters from summoning the guards in case a party member loots a container in their vicinity on BGT installs. Secondly, the merchants in the BG1 part of the game will now properly give the player a chance to talk his way out of a failed theft attempt on both BG1Tutu and BGT installs
  • Restructured the tp2 to use ALLOW_MISSING in conjunction with dedicated macros in order to ensure proper compatibility checks
  • Reduced the amount of Arrows of Dispelling in Marina's special stock

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v4.2. This release expands the Revised Thievery component by allowing characters to talk their way out of failed pickpocket attempts and preventing NPCs from automatically turning hostile in such situations (special thanks to Taimon and Miloch). Furthermore, this release also offers improved compatibility with the Classic Adventures total conversion mod. Here's the full list of changes:

  • The Revised Thievery component will now make non-hostile NPCs initiate a special dialogue after a failed pickpocket attempt rather than simply turning hostile (special thanks to Taimon and Miloch)
  • Improved compatibility with the "Classic Adventures" total conversion mod. Several items introduced by the "Additional equipment for Thieves and Bards" can now be acquired during regular gameplay on a "Classic Adventures" installation
  • The "Proper spell progression for Bards" component can now be installed on BG1Tutu
  • The protagonist can now ask one of the elven or half-elven party members to translate Arledrian's journal during the "A missing fence?" quest
  • The Rogue's Ward and the Weary Cudgel have been slightly revised. However, Cromwell can now improve these items if the "Upgradeable Equipment" component is installed
  • Added Thieves' Cant related remarks for Nalia, Jan and Haer'Dalis to Marina's dialogue
  • The Composite Shortbow +1 was erroneously using the longbow proficiency. This issue has been rectified
  • Rogue Rebalancing (including all code and documentation) is now licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License

  • The Harp of Descant was erroneously usable by Paladins
  • Activating the Improved Invisibility ability of Rogue's Ward will no longer trigger a reaction from the Cowled Wizards in case the spellcasting license wasn't acquired
  • The "Revised Thievery" component now checks for Taimon's "ToB Hacks" in order to prevent his patch from being needlessly applied twice
  • When facing a Nishruu or a Hakeashar spellcasting opponents will now attempt to use Dispel/Remove Magic against the creatures, if they have one of those spells memorized
  • Updated the French and Spanish translations

  • Under specific circumstances, the abilities of the Tri-Souled Sapphire could become corrupted if WoRm's visual Ioun Stone animations were present. This issue has been rectified

  • Resolved a compatibility issue related to the Glitterdust and Faerie Fire spells from the Spell Revisions mod (special thanks to Mike1072)

The Rogue Rebalancing mod has been updated to v4.3. In summary, this update introduces a more thorough revision of the Assassin kit, makes some minor adjustments to the Bounty Hunter and Jester kits and adds several non-violent options for dealing with law enforcers after a failed theft attempt. Here's the full list of changes:

New in Rogue Rebalancing v4.3:
  • The Assassin kit has been revised more thoroughly. Firstly, the damage dealt by the Poison Weapon ability is now dependant on the Assassin's level. Secondly, the one-time bonus to hit and damage has been replaced with a new passive ability called Poison Expertise which improves the Assassin's saving throw vs. poison and the effectiveness of his Poison Weapon ability. Finally, Assassins now gain a new Death Attack ability at level 16 and every 8 levels thereafter
  • The Bounty Hunter kit has been revised more thoroughly. Firstly, the Paralytic Toxin ability now has a shorter duration and is acquired once per 10 levels. Secondly, the Bounty Hunter's Special Snares have been additionally modified and renamed into Alchemical Traps. Thirdly, the saving throw difficulty class of Paralytic Toxin and Alchemical Traps now improves as the Bounty Hunter gains more experience and acquires the Alchemical Expertise passive ability. Finally, a Bounty Hunter using the Alchemy HLA can now make three times as many potions as a regular Thief
  • The Revised Thievery component will now allow parties with a high reputation and party members with a charisma score above 10 to pay a fine to various law enforcers (Flaming Fist, Amnish Centurions, Saradush militia) after a failed theft attempt instead of having to face them in combat. The amount of gold that needs to be paid depends on the party's reputation or the charisma score of the party member who had committed the theft
  • The effectiveness of the Jester's song has been slightly reduced (enemies will now make their saves more easily)
  • Special abilities that are unable to affect specific targets now display more descriptive feedback strings
  • If the "Thief kit revisions" component is installed, all Thief opponents with the Assassin kit from the "Chosen of Cyric encounter" and the "Shadow Thief Improvements" components will use the revised version of the kit and gain access to its new abilities if they meet the necessary level requirements
