Hi,

I'm playing the old neverwinter nights and I can't get past the beholders in a cistom-made module. I have to fight a death tyrant beholder and 8 normal beholders. Trouble is I sold the 1 magic item which protected me against all magic in the previous module in the trilogy, which would have helped me. Can anyone give me an item-code for a magic item which protects against most or all magic-use?(eg:- globeofinvulnerability etc.) so that I can dm_psawn it into my game?

Secondly, as regards NWN2, have the important bugs been fixed yet? I'm thinking of playing it but I have a policy of wiating until most or all of the serious bugs have been dealt with, and I know that nwn2 started out really buggy at first.

A custom made module? As in fan-made? If that's the case, it is likely there are a number of workarounds to your situation beyond the simple hack-and-slash, if no one minds me using that term. ;) As for item codes, I think there is a number of them posted in the NWN cheat-section over at GameFAQs, though whether you'll find what you're looking for or not I cannot say.

You might also want to direct queries to the module's own forum, or to its maker (if they're still around that is). Another option is once you locate such an item, or are nearing the end of the particular module (this case about the XP count), save your character file instead of your game, not the most efficient use of it I'll grant, but depending on how much you value the item and whatever else you have on you - you could take them all into another module as a pre-made character... so long as you don't encounter modules that frown on such tricks. ;)

In any event, beholders are best not encountered head on anyway, if possible be sure to get the first shot in before taking them on, and isolating them if the area allows it, hit and run on a pack of around twelve beholders for example is going to be your best chance at winning against them, so be sure to have a good archer or two because melee characters will find it rather rough getting close enough to do damage - protected or otherwise.

As for NWN2, sadly most news concerning bugs still are unfavourable due to the game's engine among other matters, but it is fairly playable these days from what I've been told. I can't give any first-hand accounts for this though, I'm sorry. If you do end up playing it, all I can suggest is saving often and with backups - best to check out the official forums as well. :)

It's a pity re nwnw2. I'll check the gamefaq nwn cheats but I'm not optimistic. I may be forced to use some cheat-code to artificially kill the beholders(if such exists in nwn, it does exist in baldur's gate). I ahve tried every possible tactic such a casting endless darkness spells via magic items but sooner or later my character gets killed(despite my character being a highly magic-resistant yuan-ti).

I suppose I could play the previous module and get the magic item etc., then replay this moduel but it's such a long-widned way to do things. I did post on the relevant mod forum already, and am hoping he will answer(though that's no guarantee).
