After some deliberation and discussion, I've decided I will do up a Dragon Knight quest for Paladins, be it Keldorn or the PC, so that they'll be able to gain a Dragon Knight sigil, awarded by the special Quest Giving NPC.

To be eligible for the Quest, the party must have at least a level 18 Paladin and a perfect Reputation of 20.

The Paladin will receive the Quest in the form of a missive, to be summoned to Watcher's Keep. There the Quest Giver NPC will brief the party in game, and then give time to prepare. After that he will transport the Paladin to the cavern to do battle.

Basically, your quest will be for the Paladin to solo a Red Dragon successfully.

The Paladin *has* to respond to the quest before he turns level 23, otherwise the Quest is voided. Meantime, the Reputation MUST be maintained at a perfect 20 ; otherwise the missive will crumble (if still in the pack) and the Quest Giver will vanish without a word.

There's going to be considerable Roleplay and Thinking to do as well. As if dragon slaying were that easy :)

In return, the Paladin will receive a Dragon Knight Badge - that will provide some thac0, attack, AC, saving throw, damage bonuses etc, nothing really fantastic.

Now what's really cool - against bosses, dragons, or some trials in Pocketplane, the Dragon Knight will receive a scroll that he can read. Upon using it, he drops all his gear and becomes a Dragon...! :) Gaining quite a few abilities including Wing Buffet and Firebreath. It should last for 7 rounds :)

Hope you guys enjoy this one... !

As a long-time Paladin-fan I'd definitely love this idea! Count me in if you need testing.

Sounds Brilliant. :Tasty: :Tasty: very very :Tasty:
Another good weapon that can only be used by Paladins might also be worth including, perhaps in a relatively unpopular category.
That way, it would make Paladin only parties more viable.

I've actually finished writing the dialogue for the quest, less player options (sigh I really find writing those such a PAIN), so now to implement it.

Dragon Knight kit is basically quite simple - it strips your default Paladin kit (if any), and then awards the benefit of all 3 Paladin Kits ;) for no drawbacks.

I've also more or less decided the Paladin will be fighting a Red Dragon with probably more than 300 hitpoints ;) but before that, he'll have to take care of a Balor and a Pit Fiend together
(for those who are seeing this for the first time, the Paladin has to solo the fight. and he cannot be more than level 23 for the fight)

Dragon Knight Badge - Regen 1/10 seconds, +1 Thac0, +2 AC, +2 Saving Throws
- consolation badge.

Dragon Knight Badge - Regen 1/4 seconds, +2 Thac0, +2 AC, +2 Saving Throws, +1 Attack/round, +30% Magic resistance
- the real deal.

Both badges will have the same description but different statistics.

reduced the badges slightly. especially the Real Deal

Hey, I have just started creating kits and mods for Baldur's gate as I have fallen in love with the BWP, it is fantastic. I am however very interested in your Dragon Slayer, as one of the kits I have been creating was a Dragon Warrior, a paladin taken under a metalic dragons tutelage. I wanted to create a similar quest involving the slaying of a chromatic Dragon and then a kit upgrade after its completion and would love to see how you linked the kit replacement and quest.

I was wondering if this was still being worked on or was finished, or if I could try and sift through to see how you managed certain bits :) I am just getting into this sort of stuff and am quite inexperienced thus far, but am a quick learner and any info would be much appreciated.

The Dragon Knight was never completed, though all the dialogue and everything is already written for it.

It is not difficult, you basically only need to AddKit in the .D or .BAF, same as other mods.
If you want to strip away the original kit, I do believe AddKit(0) does that.

Hope this helps.
