Warning ! The topic is a little bit more delicate.

The official knowledge about half-drow says they are the result of rape and slavery.
But, bearing in mind the elven repulsion towards rape, would a drow rape someone ? My opinion is that even the evil drow won't cross this line.
Second, if a surface elf, a moon elf more precisely, is raped by a drow and gives birth to a child half-drow and half-surface elf, what would be the attitude of her community about her and the child ? My opinion is that they would still accept her, but the attitude, at least toward the child, would be one of scorn combined with resent.

It depends on the subrace of the elves in question. Only wild elves would accept them, and even then there's only a chance of that happening. Sun elves (grey elves in other D&D settings) would most likely want to kill the child, seeking to end its "suffering". Most other elves would force the mother to either abandon her child, or leave.

Drows have certainly no Problem to rape someone.

In one of the Books of the "War of the Spider-Queen"-Series there is a secret Brothel for male Drows were they keep Drow-females from other Citys as Slaves - one of the Woman there even traded Information for a painless and quick Death ...

Viconia references "the breaking of pleasure slaves" in her banter with Sarevok, so we have an in-game confirmation of this behavior as well.

Rape is, in all probability, more prevalent for drow as it is for humans.

Actually most sex in drow society is probably rape. Drow females will not be denied. If one sees a desireable mate, that male is in a screw well (on demand), or die situation.

On another note, there have been published cases of rape commited by surface elves. There are ALWAYS exceptions to the status quo.

The nation of Dambrath is ruled by Drow half-elves who worship Loviatar... as well as a few remaining non-Drow half-elves descended from the original Loviatan settlers. One of the books within BG/BG2 has more information... You can search the Dialog.tlk with IEEP for 'Reinhar IX'... or would you rather I post the whole thing here? It is reeeally long...

They have. In "Daughter of the Drow" from "Starlight and Shadows" series it is clearly stated that even the most sadistic drow are reluctant to this.

That also depends what would a drow consider rape, since drow relationship are strictly based on lust. Yes, drow females cannot be denied, but there are 2 choices : the male complies to the female's wishes, or he is killed, but the female won't punch him with her mace and beat him to a bloody pulp to have her desires fulfilled.

I'm sure some would, though it would probably be atypical.

That could have been what I had half-remembered, thinking about it.

There is a mention in the book Evermeet about sub-races cross-breeding. It said that the child is either one or the other. *shrug* Or that is just the case with moon elves and sea elves.

yeah, that's what I remember as well. The offspring takes on either parent's race. I think the half drow probably comes from human+drow or some other non-surface elf race.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the Forgotten Realms at least, can't elves choose whether or not to become pregnant?

Quite frankly, if drow feel no compunction about murder, tortue and sex with demons, I can't see them feeling very guilty about raping one of the 'lesser' races. Besides, drow males who'd been oppressed, emasculated and raped themselves all of their lives, probably would find pleasure in having such power over a female of any race.

I might go a bit off Topic here, but in one Book of the Harpers Serie (Curse of the Shadowmage) there is a woman mentioned who was the Child of a Green-Elf Male and a Drow Female (though her Parents loved each other) and she was killed by Humans who thought she was a Dark-Elf.

I've read about that before. But it applies to mainly surface elves because of their affinity with Nature. Not sure about drow at all, in particular female drow.

In the High Forest, there's a goodly community of outcast half drow, and half elves led by a Moon elven woman. They worship Eilistraee, of course.

There's also a community of good drow (and I'd assume at least a few half-drow) on the outskirts of Skullport, the Underdark city below Waterdeep.

For the mod I'm working on, I found information on this subject at the following site --

http://myth-drannor....irwood/Main.htm

While this is in relation to the offspring of Humans/Drow, there doesn't seem to be much avaliable concerning Surface Elves and Drow. However, there was one particular sight I visited that mentioned it. If I can find the link again, I'll paste it here.

Speaking of Half-drow. I found a picture of a dreagloth and except for the head , it looks just like the slayer (if you look closer, the slayer has a second, smaller pair of arms.) :) Just thought you might want to know if someone was thinking of modding one.

A Draegloth (I may have misspelled it) is a kind of drow cambion (In some drow priestess schools ,there is a tradition of inviting a glabrezu to the graduation party  ). It is usually considered as a blessing to the priestess' house, as well as one of it's most powerful weapons.
Then she saw his eyes, red and mad as hell. And in that moment she knew that he could kill anyone, no matter how strong. Madness, true madness could put a fist through a plank.

I imagine most half-drow would be products of a drow male/human female pairing, for several reasons:
Human women are more fertile than elves, including drow.
Half-drow infants are larger than full drow infants. As human women have larger wombs, bearing one is easier on a human than a drow.
A drow female who bore a half-drow infant would likely sacrifice the child to Lolth.
Drow society would care little if a human slave girl bore a half-drow child. The child would likewise be a slave, although more favored than his/her mother.
