So far the patch is going well but I have an issue with updating the SPELL.IDS file. The easy solution is to just add a text line to the bottom (APPEND, I assume) with the next HEX address. The problem with this is that you would have to install DSotSC before any other mod (first mod after patches of course). I can't stand the idea of forcing this. I have been looking through some TP2 files to get an idea of how others do it. So far no luck. Without just copying over another IDS file, does anyone know of a clean way to update the IDS for everyone without screwing up another mod's install? The Weidu readme doesn't even cover this that I can see.

all of seem to suggest that all you need to do is APPEND. wouldnt an APPEND, err, append the new spells to the bottom of SPELL.IDS? would that be a problem? otherwise, you could always specify some numbers that other mods don't use - as the second reference there implies. it wouldn't *guarantee* future compatibility, but it's far from the worst solution.

Unless you're using one of the two triggers that don't accept -RES, I would forego altering SPELL.ids in its entirety. Try taking a look at this thread and see if it helps.
