Guys, I know that I am horrible etc, but I was wondering if any of you can provide an input on the following issue (PLEASE NO: YOU CANNOT DO THAT, BECAUSE IT IS A BLASPHEMY AND LIKE TOTALY DESTROYS THE UNIVERSE, BECAUES I ALREADY TOLD YOU I AM HORRIBLE!)

I would like to convert my PST game for a female Nameless One. I have NOT played the game yet, since I was put off by having to play a male and I am again facing the issue of not being able to play it with a male, so I started doing some changes and figured... why not?

Any information on why I would not be able to do it (key story points, engine limitations etc) will be appreciated - I do not mind any spoilers.

My plan so far:

Mortuary:

- Change Nameless One animation to FFG's animation
- Change Deheionarra (or whatever) to a male and rewrite her dialogue for a male; delete voicing (it's terrible anyway)
- See if <PRO_LADYLORD> tag will work and change all the dialogues that require it.
-alter Mortis dialogues

Previously pointed conceptual problems:

Ravel - will have to make her bisexual
Annah - will either have to make her bisexual or skip her romance
FFG will be changed to a male incubus (using NAMELESS one animation/portrait)

Another potential problem:

The end (and beginning) game scenes picture a male Nameless One, so you'd have to figure out how to remove those entirely or, uh... yeah.

I'll be cheering you on though, playing as an ugly male was what put me off of playing the game when it first came out. That, and the horrible cover.

I've managed to get over it... eventually.

Movies do not bother me so I will just ignore it. I am mostly interested in setting the game up so I can play it...

Plan sounds good to me.

However, I don't think the Nameless One's picture/animation would go to well with an incubus. They aren't useually ugly. Then again the Baatezu could have abused an incubus to the point where he looked like the Nameless One. Ah, the tender ministrations of the Kocrachon's knives.

Actually, now that I think of it, it may be easyer and make more sense to replace Annah than to repalce Fall-from-grace.

Whatever works for you.

I did not like the tail and I like the idea of romancing FFG more than yet another incarnation of Imoen. I am now starting to rewrite the files... it's gonna take a few months, I guess. But heh, after that I will be able to play it!

(since someone has to do the dirty jobs)
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?!?!?!?!?! BLASPHEMY!!!!!! HERETIC!!!! WOULD YOU DESTROY THE KNOWN WORLD!?!?!?!?! COMPLETE LUNACY!!!!!!!
(okay I thinks thats enough don't you?)

Okay thats it but once you've don what you're doing I would suggest you play the game the 'normal' way after so's you know what it's like but hey, maybe if the idea gets enough supporters you could try making it into a mod.....
I apparently have a high level of empathy, combined with a low level of sympathy... weird

*shrug* Morte's dialogues are much more fun for a female PC, I find :) I do not add new content - well, appart from substituting Deionarra with a certain male BG1 NPC :) . Other than that I just change the existing lines to fit for a female PC. And no, I will not play PST with a male PC, my only chance to play that game is to have it redone for a female.

FFG is beautiful, TNO is most certainly not. Isn't there another alternative here? Out of all the characters, Grace is the one I can most readily see as bisexual, since it's established that her "lusts" are more intellectual than anything. I'd personally rather have a romanceable Dak'kon, and leave FFG alone. She is very much a female and feminine character, and I can't really see changing that. (She's also my favorite character, so -- BLASPHEMY! ;))

Personal thoughts:

If I had to choose what a female TNO would look like, I'd pick a "lesser female" npc avatar. Overwise use Annah's. (Why? Well, a female TNO doesn't exactly come across as a blonde, winged succubi. ) A great deal of the game is based on how scarred and ugly (and smelling like embalming fluid) the PC is, after all.

Make Dak'kon romaceable! Always felt bad for not being able to help out that character more.

I can only use very limited amount of portraits - namely the ones that are already there for joinable NPCs, so I am swaping it. The animations that do not have required sequences will crash the game - I tried with female Asimar first, and it did, FFG thankfully would not. Neither would Annah's but I'd rather have the wings than the tail :)

As for FFG, well, I won't complain if the 'romance' will be more of a 'friendly' sequence than romance per se if it is impossible to adapt.

As I said before - I am not adding anything in - just rewriting existing dialogue state for state, because I do not want to be the one to discover how to edit VAR.VAR and figure out how to edit Torment. Crefully editing 817 or so files is a task enough :)

You do know that only TNO's animation can support a weapon choice under the PS:T engine, right? You replace it with FFG's, you doom TNO to use her tslap as her only weapon.
Wondering where's the old Interplay community? Well, they're all at Ashford City!

Your stubborn, ill give you that.

replacing Annah and nameless one makes more sence. both becose nameless one avatar and animations would actually make sort of sence for a "Annah like" character (fighter/rouge). and becose wel yeah, running around with a blonde winged succubus (as someone said so nicelly) very much ruins alot of the character responces you will get. While Annah in many situations recive much the same treatment as Nameless one often gets (just look at morte's snide comments for that.)

But, i know you still wont consider change that idea.

Good luck, I am fairly certain you will have good need of it.

Really, all this work for what..?

My, it feels as if a male wouldn't want to play Tomb Raider because he cannot control a man...

Sometimes -and I know this is not what you want to hear- it TRULY brakes the feeling of a game if you attempt to "rape" the concepts in such a brutal way.

GIRL POWER, I guess ;) .

I recall an amusing quote from another forum, in which someone said something to the effect of "I wish my parents had called me The Nameless One, so I could better associate with my character in PST."

A most interesting idea, a female Nameless One?
I'm not certain whether this will work out without a complete overhaul of the storyline.

Much of the NPC's attitude toward the Nameless One is gender-dependent. Here are but a few things that should be addressed:
Females: The reaction of the female NPCs definitely would change, and you really have to bend a few rules and break a couple of others to make this work.
Annah:
- Her character follows the Nameless One across the planes mainly out of love (much like Deionarra and the Practical Incarnation), if you take away the romance, you will have to think up of a creative "torment" that will link Annah to the female Nameless One
- If you make Annah's character Bisexual you will need to address the issue of why she would go for the Nameless One instead of Fall-From-Grace (unless you make Annah a lesbian, the gender of Fall-From-Grace is irrelevant). :P
- You could remedy this by either
- making Annah a lesbian and Fall-From-Grace male (which would lead to some problems with Grace's character, see below)
- making BOTH Annah and Fall-From-Grace male (upon which the Nameless One would be the ONLY female in the party (leading to an awkard situation with Morte, see below)

Fall-From-Grace:
- Her character may follow the Nameless One regardless of romance or gender (she is connected by Torment of an alignment change), but making her male would involve quite a bit of trouble.
- The aforementioned relation with Annah (see above)
- Her starting point: The Sensates may be barmy enough to trust a Succubus with a brothel full of girls, but not an Incubus :thumb: (Of course, you CAN make everyone in the brothel male, males who wear veils and perfume and get love letters from starry-eyed females that is  )

Males: Making the Nameless One female would make the males romanceable, but in truth the male NPCs don't make for good partners in a romance example:
Ignus:
- "Ignussss hassss only eyessss for burning and flamessss."

Vhailor:
- "JUSTICE is my one and ONLY mistress"

Dak'kon:
- Both a slave AND a lover? Bring out the leather and chains! And spikes! Yes, spikes! (Okay I'll stop now)
- Dak'kon doesn't respond well to females (see his two banters with Fall-From-Grace)
- This would play down the torment part.

Morte:
- Making the Nameless One female would definitely open up quite a few dialog options with Morte since appearance is not a top priority with the skull (he would go after zombies).
- Romancing a skull would definitely be a novelty though it would play down the torment part.
- If you go down the deep end and make BOTH Annah and Fall-From-Grace male, the Nameless One will be the object of Morte's comments 100% of the time. (Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.)

Modrons: Fortunately the role of a modron doesn't change with the gender of the director
Nordom: You shouldn't have much trouble with Nordom, though you would miss out on a lot of the banters (If you change either Annah or Fall-From-Grace).

Anyway, good luck on trying to get this thing to work. Hopefully you can achieve this without COMPLETELY destroying the storyline, but I'll keep my torch and pitchfork handy just in case you do. ;)
