I use the female sassy soundset, but ran into a problem.

All sounds are perfect, save for the selection sounds - only one is ever heard, and it's an unnaturally deep, male one. >.>

Just out of curiosity what does the male one say? Not that I know much about the way they install but that might help locate the culprit.

I can't hear what it says - the voice is too deep and slightly warped.

One thing you could try if you haven't already is to re-install it. I know that doesn't always work well with mod problems but maybe with something this small it may overwrite whatever the problem is. At the very least I don't think it would make it any worse. If that doesn't work and no one else has offered a better solution I'll download the file and see what I can come up with. Hope that helps.

Edit: One other thing you could do is to go into your sounds folder (C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII-SoA\sounds) and play the individual files to see if they are the problem. They should read f_sassy*.wav ( * being 1-_ and a-z)

Just curious, did you find out what the problem was?

Samep problem, but the strange thing is that if I preview the voices, they turn out ok, but ingame they give the warped vioce.
The context of the voice is the same, but the playback is warped.

Could you say what the correct filenames of the faulty files are, as Caelellowynn suggested?

Okay, so I went and downloaded the f_sassy voice set, started a new female fighter PC, and spent about 15 minutes ingame with the sounds set on always. Didn't have any issues to that point. So several questions come to mind.

1) Did your problem start right away?
2) If not then when in the game did they start?
3) Install any mods after starting the game with this soundset?
4) Use the console to give your PC anything at all?
5) Use Shadowkeeper, NI, or the like to tweak the character?
6) Are you using custom kits or AI?

With two of you having this issue it may actually be easier if we can find some common factor. Myself I have NPC mods, crossmod banters, Banterpack, Unfinished Business, and DOQuestPack installed and that's about it. I'm pretty sure nothing in these effect my .CRE file directly though.

Also, Pain Elemental, am I right in assuming that you are having the same problem with more than one voice set and that it is warping all the sounds and not just the selection voices as in the case of Choo Choo?

Hopefully I'm on the right track.

EDIT: heh, realized that was more than a few questions and changed it.

1: When I test them, they work out fine, but as soon as I get in-game, the SELECTION sounds warps - the rest of the soundset works fine.

2: See above.

3: No.

4: No.

5: No.

6: No.

However, for Pain Elemental, I've only tried out ONE of the voices. I could very well be having the same problem. I'll have to check later today.

Here is something that "may" help. Check to see if you have Environmental Sounds enabled. If you do turn it off and see if that does anything.

EDIT: I turned it on and found most of the Selection sounds disappeared. I did not get the warping however I am also not currently using a sound card. I've learned EAX and sound cards can be tricky in BG II so maybe this is where the issue is occuring.

1) Yes
2) n.a.
3) No, installed the soundsets last, then continued with my saved game, I have BG Trilogy installled
4) Probably yes, but that should be something like extra gold, it shouldn't matter
5) No
6) No

Yes I had the problem with all the voices, strange thing was that when I quit BG2 and restarted, all the voices worked fine for me
I assume that it was a configuration and/or software/hardware related and less of a mod problem.
After an eternity away from you all, I've returned.

I think the problem with soundsets playing slowly (thus also at a very low pitch) is the file format. I think you have to set them to a specific bitrate to fix the problem.

8 or 16 bit?

I have not played these yet but sometimes when I change soundsets I go to Customize and change the sound from there. Press play to test the sound and that helps. If not pressing play in the customize screen and going back into game, I get high pitched or low pitched voices.

It seems there is a lack of seletion sound file named XXXXXXX0.wav. I copied one of the other seletion sound file (f, g, h or x, y) and renamed it as XXXXXXX0.wav, then the problem solved

I do mot know why, but if I delete XXXXXXX0.wav and run the game again, everything still works fine. So do not know how exactly my warped selection sound problem is solved :crying:
