Because multiplayer mixes oh so well with real-time-with-pause gameplay (as demonstrated by a certain ten years old game we are most likely not obsessing about).

Wait, I hope they aren't planning to turn this into a non-pauseable ARPG :(

IF this causes DA2 to not have an expansion...I would be rightly pissed off...Then again they got Awakening out pretty fast for DA:O so perhaps they will do the same with DA2...

Multiplayer content? Gods, I hope not. Neglecting single player is the last thing DA needs right now.

And wait, wait, what about DLCs for Dragon Age 2? Or maybe they realized DA2 wasn't as good as Origins and decided just to leave it behind?

Speaking of Origins, I wonder if they'll ever patch it properly, with Jowan's Intention working and Alistair not speaking of being king when he's not... Probably never.

They've most likely assigned a separate DLC team to be left behind to take care of DA II while the rest of the development team moves on to DA III.

I don't think BioWare is ever going to go back to fix anything in Origins.

Qwinn's Fixpack 2.0. Works beautifully on both those counts and lots of others too.

Agreed. I haven't seen any problems with it and the official 1.04 patch, although it was developed for patch 1.03.

I doubt that the single player will be really neglected (they can simply throw more people at it) - it's more likely that some people will work on both aspects, resulting in things balanced for multiplayer being forced into single player (E.G. nerfing big nukes or crowd control abilities, removing tactical pause). If Bioware is bold enough to devote two fully distinguished teams to the different aspects, they can do something enjoyable for both sides (see: Bioshock 2).

I read on Dragon Age Wiki that Jennifer Hepler is currently writing DLC for DA2. If that page counts as a reliable source.

As for multiplayer in DA3, I don't really care. BG2 also had multiplayer and it did not affect the single player campaign one bit. If DA3 turns out to be a bad game that won't be because of a multiplayer feature.

They could fuck up and make the SP gameplay less interesting while rebalancing skills and mechanics to better fit PVP.

I don't find the mechanics of DAO or DA2 that complex, so I don't think they have anything left to simplify. (Unless they decided to turn the whole thing into a full-action rpg.) And I doubt they would concentrate on multiplayer feature that much even if included, since with the DA and ME franchise Bioware still puts (or at least claims to put) an emphasis on writing, characters and storytelling. I can only image it as a 'bonus' feature.

Who knows if it's true. But their last game allegedly geared towards multiplayer with SP included (NWN1) doesn't fill me with expectation for this kind of news.

It's not necessarily simplifying, but some spell abilities abilities ('save or die', 'save or be incapacitated') don't mix too well with an accessible PVP environment (see: TF2 developer commentaries), and the risk is that those abilities are removed for SP/PVE as well.

If they re-use even half of DA:2 re used locations - every bandit almost looking the same - going to the same areas more then 3 times..etc.. I will be ticked off most certainly...

Other then those Issues I thought DA:2 was a decent game...Hopefully they can keep it up and continue to deliver with DA:3...Only time will tell though of course...My only question is...I wonder with DA:3 confirmed so quickly after DA:2 being out will we get a lot of DLC for DA:2?(And by DLC I do not mean armor/weapons...I mean things like "Return to Ostagar" or "Witch Hunt") or even an expansion like Awakening? My apologies if this has been stated elsewhere...

I don't think that they'll do an xpack like Awakening, but they'll probably release some mediocre quest DLC pack with more recycled areas. I would wager that some of it will make RtO look like a polished diamond.

Here's hoping they have a reasonable timeframe for development and release. Don't want any more bugs and inexplicable finales!

As for the multiplayer, several games like Borderlands have it so you can only pause the game while there's only you playing. You can still access your menu just fine, the game just will "keep going" so long as someone else is out there. They could do that, so it wouldn't be pauseless in single player.

I really enjoyed DA2, but I was actually starting to think there might not be a Dragon Age 3, going by all the negativity on the bioware social network site. Glad that isn't the case. Hopefully this time they can strike a balance so that everyone enjoys the game this time around.

There was a quote from Mike Laidlaw saying that they would be addressing criticisms, so fingers crossed they'll get it right this time. There are elements of DA2 that are brilliant and some things have definitely been improved, but there are a lot of flaws too. It just reeks of rushed dev time. I hope EA gives them enough time to do DA3 justice.

As it happens, I enjoyed DA2 too (mostly). I got the distinct feeling though that DA2 was just building the backstory for DA3. We'll see.
