No reason not to be. If these guys can't make it happen... well, I guess we'd really be out of options then. I think they'll get this done just fine though, enough to pledge 160$ (or around 120 euros for me). :)

If people keep backing Project Eternity further, it can only get better. For anyone not looking to spend extra money on the Collector's Edition etc, the early bird offer of a digital copy (incl. a special in-game achievement and item) for 20 bucks is still on the table, although the spots left on that tier are limited (4495 left at the time of this post).

I would totally pay 1000$ to do something like that if I had the cash. In fact, if I had enough money to spare, I would make sure every game project got funded, but with some crude goatse humor added

e: But I think people who pledge 10000$ are people like Snoop Dogg or Matthew Perry

I know at least that Notch(Minecraft) is one of the $10K contributors.

Also, why do all the good things come to Kickstarter when I'm low on cash? I just spent my spare money on a copy of the Grey Box FRCS and a drawing tablet.

Was it already noticed that the expected delivery date was April 2014 ... it's after the End Of The World.

What, you didn't invest in a doomsday bunker just to play this game? :P

Woot, Obsidian updated the CE tier and now I'll get beta access for my pledge. Heh... I guess I'll be waiting for that beta a while longer though. :)

Just noticed they added ingame item reward for kickstarter participants. Bleh, so much for thinking it will be a truly old school game where you pay you money and get full game content.

This was already included since the first day, and it's just flavor ("will not affect game balance").

My mistake then, though I'm glad it turned out to be mistake :)

One might speculate however that "will not affect game balance" doesn't necesserily means "will be totally cosmetic", and if it's planned to be something useful it still sucks, not by itself but as a tendency.

My guess is that it's going to be a starter level item, which will be outdone very shortly by more powerful items. It'll have a unique history (this is confirmed), but I don't think it'll be anything more than a novelty item with Kickstarter references in some form.

I hope I am not crossing the great wall of no no, for making this a comment thread off the pinned topic about the same subject:

Feargus Urquhart commented on Project Eternity needing more backers on KS & some publicity right now, so they're adding Facebook stuff (see link #2) for the final stretch, but don't be discouraged by that - there's nothing on Facebook that isn't available through the Obsidian forums or the Project Eternity Kickstarter page.

Well, I bet this is a part of the new move to keep people informed after the Kickstarter thing is over, as giving a "Like" to a site in Facebook also means that they can spam on your wall unless you block them.
And in my opinion, this is a good move.

Nah, it's fine to quote from there to make a point. This is the comment thread for Project Eternity anyway.

Obsidian will break even with the Kickstarter + PayPal funding, but without any actual profit from Project Eternity, they're stuck to using Kickstarter for the possible expansion pack. So yeah, publicity certainly helps in building the base of potential customers.

I like the new stretch goal for hiring George Ziets (Creative Lead for Mask of the Betrayer). I think it's achieveable within less than a week, which is what Project Eternity has left on Kickstarter right now... if you haven't yet, check it out. I think it's worth pledging money to, but I guess that would depend on how much you trust Obsidian's capability to deliver a game like this. I think they can pull it off.

The first screenshot looks great, I like the style. Looking forward to seeing how the characters look in that environment. :)

It's beautiful!
But I can't really get the perspective (is the water.. leaning?), it kind of makes my head hurt trying to understand it.
