Hey guys, I've been modding BG II with some (imo) original ideas and making some fun items (nitro boots, plasma shields, transformable weapons).

And about the last type I have a question. Basically I have a staff (or a bow) which has two different "forms".

You have Fire damage equipped, you can switch to Frost damage with a button in your equipment. I did this by:

1. Remove Item Fire

2. Create Inventory Item Frost

Problem is that even though I get the new staff (or bow) it ends up in the inventory rather than in the hands of the player. I've been trying to use the Equip Item (133) function, but... it won't function!

That's because the parameters are unknown, HOWEVER my question is; Is there another way to do this?

Thanks

There isn't.

Are the equipped abilities different? If they're not, I'd suggest going with alternate headers on the item.

Why is this Hypnotoad video so popu... ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD.

Probably BGEE will be able to support this with the TransformItem action.

They have no different Equipped Effects (though I did intent to change the color palette), but they do have different inventory abilities, damage and Extended Effects.

How would switching between alternate headers work?

To give you an example, at 2:30 I made a bow that changes ammo type through a quiver (which adds the, remove, add item ability in equipment), but I constantly have to pick it out my inventory and re-equip it.

Does TransformItem keep the item in the same slot? I think that even if it does stay in the same slot, you'll still have to re-equip it to appear in the hands of the character (and use it)
