BGT 1.18 - BG1 chapters numbered incorrectly

Hi,

During my last BGT run I noticed that the Chapter numbers in BG1 were incorrect . The game was starting me out in "Journal/Chapter 1," then jumping me right to Chapter 2 after leaving Candlekeep.

 

Thinking it might have been a bad install, I wiped everything, did a clean reinstall and started a new game, but my Journal still shows me in Chapter 2 outside of Candlekeep (see attached screenshot).

 

If this didn't affect gameplay I could live with it, but I started noticing chapter triggered events being affected in the last run. Small things like Khalid disappearing permanently when I booted him out in Beregost (I think he's only supposed to do this after Nashkel Mines). Also when I entered Nashkel, I didn't automatically advance to the next chapter; I had to save and reload, at which point the movie came up, and the game advanced to... Surprise. Chapter 3! I'm worried it's going to cause problems with my game down the line.

 

Does anyone have an idea what the problem is here? Is this something I can ignore and play through?

Actually they are not... the BGT-weidu adds 1 to the numbers used in the BG1... but that's because the BG1's Candlekeep was a Tutorial/Prologue ... which the BG2 doesn't have, if you skip the tutorial it has where you could gain enough XP to level up and so forth. It should be in the readme too. It's known thing and the add on mods also should know this and as such they have been coded to accept the fact. And things like the Baldur's Gate bridge will only lower itself at chapter 5, and you gain the Bhall Spawn powers after the start of the chapter 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 in BGT, where it was after chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 start in BG1.

You will also note that the BGT-to-SoA transition will reset the chapter number to one.

Yes indeed it's a feature of BGT-WeiDU. The real reason for that chapter increment is to allow quests in Candlekeep to appear in the Journal section, which is allowed only if Chapter is one (or more) with the BG2 engine.

Tutu v4 did not increase the chapter number, but did not record quests in the journal section for Candlekeep for this reason.

You can happily play BGT, everything is normal.
