Can't find (spawn?) CuChoinneach

and no happiness.  I have worked the walkhrough so far:

thus, I have the mace of disruption.  I spoke to the mayors duaghter and wife (accepting the quest with option 1), then spoke with Jules.  I then headed to the next zone north - Trade Way South - and no CuChoinneach.  I walked the road from one end of the zone to the other. I also doubled back and checked all of Nashkell.  no go. 

 

I guess I really dont need to spawn CuChoinneach - I just want to be able to get to the next quest - to go to the citadel.  But, I cannot find the Citadel on the map, although I have exited the west AND east side of the zone where I killed the dragon.  <shrugs>  Any tips/hints/ideas?  Thanks!

 

 

by the way, I have not found a necklace or whatever that Jules seems to be looking for..  dunno whats up with that.

The problem appeared a few days ago for another player as well

you need to spawn CuChoinneach, his conversation reveals the area on the map, you need not let him join to go there.

 

PS Even if posted in the Sandrah forum it is NOT related to the Sandrah mod.

That worked like a charm - I just CULA'd him in, talked to him and the new area "Castle Daerthmac" popped up on my map.  Thanks so much!

 

And Sandrah is not in my group - if that helps in debugging for others.

Sorry for the confusion - Sandrah has nothing to do with the issue at all - just the problem was discussed on her forum a couple of days before, that is why I knew. It seems that some other mod is interferring with Dark Side in newer installations causing some problems with triggers and spawns. You seem to be lucky since you had no issues before this one, which appears to be the last of them anyway.

Well, not the last problem.  So, I am on the final quest, to rescue the Nephew.  I am down to 5 toons, a get to and clear the level where we meet Ferthgil Trollslayer, whom I added to my party.  I cleared all bazillion of the dark dwarves.  Now I see two exits from this level other than the one I came in with.  One going up via the stairs in the NW corner of the central room, and one a trap door going down also in the central room.  I can and have gone down just fine to the maze below (firewine runes map I think).  BUT, when I try to go up, the game simply crashes and closes.  No error messages to help us with...

 

Any thoughts/help?  I assume the way up is the way I have to go to proceed?  Thanks kindly

No idea about the crash (it might be some creature trying to follow you through the transition between areas). Below is a dead end anyway, stairs up lead forward.

that means I cannot finish, as I cant go up, correct?  :-(   I did notice that when I went down, two dark dwarves had fled that direction.  I suppose I have to re-fight that final fight then?  <sighs>

MoveToArea("DSC027") should bring you up again. If you get a crash again, try MoveToArea("DSC029").

Hmm popping in at DSC027 drops me into the norththern most (NW) jail cell in the same level that I am already in.  I see no levers, doors or anything to do while in that jail cell nor any way out.  When I move to DSC029, the game crashes as before.  :-(

 

Also, I reloaded to before the fight, did the whole fight again, adding trollkiler etc, and still the game crashes when I go up the stairs, and/or when I move to DSC029.

Oh, I misunderstood the problem - it is entering DSC029 (I thought it was leaving DSC028 - the cellar). Did you try it without having Fergil in the party?

Otherwise it seems that DSC029 is broken in some way (there are no creatures etc in it that you have not met before which could cause the crash). Maybe one of the area files is corrupted in your installation.

You can try and put attached files into your override folder

I downloaded your rar file, expanded it into its sub-directory, then copied those 3 files directly into the override folder.  Then tried the stairs - no go.  I then tried removing Ferthgil and then going up the stairs.  Again, crash.  Finally, I reloaded, removed Ferthgil, and tried CULA-ing directly to DSC029 and still crash.  :-( 

 

I'm open to any ideas as to how to progress, as I would like to finish DSotSC.  Otherwise, onward without I suppose.

1. You can try to skip 029 and clua to DSC030 (029 has nothing put drow and duergar to fight, no contents) and keep going forward.

If still problem then DSotSC is really bugged and you can

2. Take the road back you came.

or

3. clua to area AR8703 (this is where you would have ended going forward (it is an area you have already been before so it should not crash)

Mmmm. I do not want to be a spoilsport but you may have a more severe issue - just to make sure your game is ok I suggest to clua to ar8601 for testing. If you have no problem with that area - fine.

That brings to mind the old bug that happens sometimes when you have mods installed, the _LOW animations being removed while the content mod(specifically the DSotSC and the two duergar .cre files) uses still the ancient _LOW animations, that crash the game. A bad reference, but one anyways.

I had eliminated this possibility because to get to this area you had to pass another 10-12 areas with all the creatures also present in DSC029 area. Thus a crash for animation reason should have occured earlier already.

Also DSC030 does not crash and it has the same duergars in it??

Nope.. played all the way through 30 and every other zone/area after that, whatever their numbers were.  I just completed DSotSC and it was very satisfying!  Great play, and thanks so much for making that possible! 

 

And, I just ported over (vua CLUA) to ar8601 and AR8703 and both worked fine.  :-)  and yes, I recognize AR8703 as where I ended up on my way out as the final zone before exiting to the bandit camp. 

 

Well, I am about ready to start tackling the city of Baldurs gate next!  Whoot!
