Thank you Snowking,

Thanks for putting us on track Icelus.

Anyways, as I was thinking, such as the misgivings about homosexuality probably originally came about perhaps by an instinctive need to breed, but there are so many races in Toril, and with various population size difference, plus cultural differences, the gods should reflect the same.

For example, I think say perhaps a Halfling would be more "Hey, doesn't matter as long as you laugh with me" while a Dwarf would morely likely to be "Stay away!", and a long-lived elf may be more relaxed about it then a Human, and an Orc might not care as long as it gets booty of both kinds and is strong enough to fight, who knows? After all, last time I checked, Wizards, TSR, whoever owns it now never really put this subject into any sort of light, and neither has most DM/GMs overtly much.

So I have to take the NPCs attituide by their personality and racial personality traits, and other situations (whether they would have a romance with a male pc or not). For example, since Kara-Tur is based on Medieval (Feudal) Japan, Dynasty-era'd China, and the fact they do not distinguish a difference between homosexual and heterosexual love, I would think Yoshimo would just look, shrug, and go back to detecting traps. Wheras Edwin would take to belittling a supposed/actual homosexual very frequently.

I'd love to see an end to these anti- and pro- religion arguments. They get very old. Let's just respect the fact that we all have different beliefs, be they right or wrong.

The thread has to do with how gods in the Forgotten Realms, not the planet Earth, might view homosexuality. Let's leave it at that and not make this turn into a human theological debate. Please.

OK, back on track. I do not know what the fuss was all about, because I subscribed to the character wholeheartedly. So no rambling on my part. No need to argue about beliefs.

BTW: Marc Dutroux shall burn in hell

Yes, thanks

Minsc and Jan wouldn't mind either, I presume. The first because he would value good companionship above morals (CG, don't know about Rashemi in general) and the later, because he sure has a couple of cousins or uncles with boyfriends and stories that go with it. Anomen I guess would be one of the few NPCs except Edwin who would see his manhood challenged and would question him as a paladin, but then he would prob be not very fond of a peasant being the same rank as a paladin either. Which order is he from, if you made up your mind on that? Are paladin orders benevolent towards each other in general?

I take it the more rigid, or more egotiscial characters would take more offense, whereas the more friendly, weird, or just apathetic characters would be "aw how cute" or "whatever, help me with this orc, willya?"

And is it just me, or does anyone picture either Haer'Dalis or Yoshimo being Bi?

Anyways, I got a majority of NPC banters written (Imoen to finish, Minsc, Haer'Dalis, Korgan and Nalia still need to be done), LT started, some flirts written down as well as interruptions and soundset list, quest banter written down.

example lines for the Don't care or think it's cute camp:
Imoen: Oh don't try to pretend to be shy... I heard what you and my brother's been doing!
Dante: ! Imoen! that's... not... well, err--
Imoen: awwww.... you're so cute when you're blushing!

example for non-accepting camp:
Edwin: You remind me of those doe-eye little slaves some of my fellow wizards kept for the... fetishist demon, but I've never heard of a man who would prefer a Catamite over a Concubine, <CHARNAME>.
Dante: *sigh* Lathander, would you please make that man a zombie so I can be justified in running him through?

I think it depends on the halfling myself (having thought about this issue quite a bit for my own project.) On the one hand, a goddess of hearth and home is a central figure for most halflings. On the other hand, there does seem to be a wilder streak of eccentricity that is tolerated, if not really condoned.

I may be prejudiced in regards to Haer'Dalis, but wouldn't that require loving someone other than yourself? (Dislike him lots I do.)

I think Edwin would be a good opportunity to bring out all of those nice victorian epithets. "Invert" is one of my favorites for being bouth nasty and full of pretense. A hypocritical epithet for hypocritical times.

I don't think that Haer' Dalis has a belief system that can form the feeling of love. In some ways, he's even worse than Xan.

I mean, just I have a feeling Haer'Dalis will flirt with both sexes, and have flings, no true love or anything of the sort.

He is the only male NPC who expresses interest in "massage and other exotic pleasures" from a male drow in the Ust Natha lust chambers.

I know what you mean, I'm looking up those lovely high-class and old-fashioned words for Edwin, and to a lesser extent--Viconia will use for insulting. Though I will go for Roman and Greek words, or other obscure things, after all, I don't think the common person really heard of "Catamite" outside of certain situations.

and weirdly, Viconia seems to favor the Eunuch insult in my banter-- since in the old biblical sense, it applies to both castrated and generally more soft and effirmitive males, and sures as a double-whammy insult.

Bauche (sp?) is a french based word with the same sort of "kept boy" meaning as Catamite. Need to find that darn dictionary.

Looks good, looks good. Cool, cool. Well done! I'm glad to see that someone has taken the time to make a viable paladin NPC. Keldorn's OK (if you give him the right acco-, acom-, accoutr-, accessories, yeah that's it!) but just isn't on par with an undead hunter. Unfortunately I may never be able to utilize him, my character of choice is the undead hunter and with only five empty slots in the party, two would be a crowd. ;) Be that as it may, good job! Just out of curiousity: Is there any dialogue between him and Keldorn? I'm in the minority but I usually have two paladins in my end game parties, PC + Keldorn(he gets Carsomyr while I dual wield).
@Vocabulary: Look around the internet. IIRC, several online dictionaries exist with English to <x> translations/transliterations and vice versa.

Oh yes, he does, he has banters with every Bioware NPCs, I count 3-4 for Keldorn, and oddly 6 for Viconia and Edwin--or not oddly considering they both are driving him batty. And hopefully, in a later release, if I can get permission from the writers maybe an addition for banters with mod npcs that are already out.

Or not, I'm a completionist.

Sounds well cool but I have a few questions of my own:

19<---bit young isn't he to be taking on almost god-like enemies with you

Lathander doesn't strike me as a deity having problems with homosexuality (since he is a deity of fertility) and all but do the Lawful good/neutral gods (Helm, Torm, Tyr...etc) say that homosexuality is evil?

Also does Lathandar actually have paladins since he is a neutral good god and he is not really a knightly god.

Just wanted to know and it would help my undersyanding on the good gods so I'd appreciate feedback, thanx :)

No, not at all.

I would venture that espousing homophobia is a likely quality only of evil gods (Bane, Lolth, etc.).

Yes, LG, LN, and NG gods (and Sune) can have paladins.

and he is not really a knightly god.

Why do you say that?

He is god of fertility, spring and happiness...etc (something along those lines :))

which is good but not really 'Knightly' and 'chivalrous' if you see what I mean even though knights/paladins may have those qualities.

espousing homophobia is a likely quality only of evil gods

to tell the truth I don't think any Gods espouse homophobia, Good, Neutral or evil :)

although I did find it strange that one of the godesses (her name slips my mind atm) of pleasure, indulgence..etc (generally seen as bad) is a chaotic good god (godess in this case ;))

Well, the only article I found that mentions homosexuality in the Realms is this:

http://www.lysator.l...-sexuality.html

Who knows how official it is, but it has a more medieval flavout to it and suggests that it is not endorsed by any diety:

Homosexual couples are almost unheard of in the Realms, and then they are a matter of scorn. Elm's scribe, is widely rumored to be Elm's lover, and the arrangement is only tolerated because of Elm's unapproachable high status and legendary eccentricity. Otherwise, homo- sexuality is only discussed in malicious gossip and histories of family scandals.

Homosexuals are, however, rumored to be found in disproportionatly high numbers among certain groups, such as adventurers, who have often been driven to adventure because they couldn't quite fit into normal society, and the priesthoods of faiths which require celibacy, since the priests never need to explain their lack of interest in conventional marriage. Of course, most people believe homosexuality to be more common in groups they with which they have formed rivalries or are actively hostile. Organized groups are said to have formed in large cities, but their memberships and activities are highly guarded secrets. Little scholarly data are known about the actual frequency of homosexuals in the Realms, or about their relative distribution among men, among women, and among the various races, nations, and occupations.

Sexual matters are not in the explicit portfolio of any major god in the Realms, although strong cases might be made for the bewitching goddess of beauty, and the sado-masochistically appealing goddess of pain. A small cult has begun to grow praising the name of the Lord of Sex and Carnality, whom I take to be either a new lesser power or else a more explicitly sexual aspect of a more established god.

Well, Forgotten Realms I guess believes it to be minor evil. I will not say my own opinions (Otherwise I will be threatened, again) so I will just stay quiet and say that my questions have been answered, thank you everyone.

It's a shame on interracial marriage is seen as bad with Elves being seen as higher than humans (half races are punished more such as half-elves and half-orcs) and so forth.

@guest-person: Thanks for the link, unfortuantely I can't view it due to School filter, and my home computer's card is acting up so now it doesn't recognize the fact I DO have a lan/tcp connection.

And I'm assuming the Elm is Elminster? ooh, this would be quite an interesting read. :P

@Felstorm: Yes Lathander is a sort fertlity/spring god, but he's also a god of journeys, and have an extremely strong disliking for the undead. And he seems to be more commonly worship among the lower-born humans then say Tyr or Torm.

Also, the whole interracial thing is sad, and yet it is very interesting from a perspective (since my cousin plays the P&P verison with a Drow-sun Elf hybrid (result of rape mind you), it's definitively was fun sessions to watch).

As for age, well, if the PC is human, Dante's only a year younger then the PC, so the PC should be young to take on godly creatures. and I honestly think Nalia is probably 18-22, with Anomen and Minsc in the mid-to-late twenties range. Anybody got offical ages (I only know Imoen and PC are "supposedly" 20, and Keldorn in the 40's range)?

Seriously, I don't think human lifespan is all that long in FR setting, and it doesn't look like the concept of teenager isn't really tangible, just "Child, older child, younger adult, adult, old person" I think.

I did not know he had an extremely strong disliking of the undead (I thought he just fought them for the sake of goodness). Will be interesting while I am creating my NPC's and I make a cavalier/undead hunter paladin (daemonhunter<---it just has to be created for my sake) :).

For the time being, good luck, I will be awaiting the release of the mod patiently ^_^
