With WeiDU keywords EE_LANGUAGE and LANGUAGE, I can easily check which EE game language is selected by players, and which language is selected to install my mod. But what is the best and easiest way to know in which language classical ToB is installed? I mean a more convenient way than reading a stringref and comparing it with predefined ones.

Looking in my baldur.ini, I have this section:

[Local]
Language=English
Language25=English

I don't know if other languages have something similar.

Why is this Hypnotoad video so popu... ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD.

Good catch! ;)

I found this in mine:

Language=French (Standard)
Language25=French (Standard)

I would really appreciate if other players could confirm their setting for Spanish, German, Polish, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian and Chinese. Thanks.

To not give a damn about it. It's not like it matters a bit.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

And in case it matters, my SoA-only baldur.ini only has the language argument--language25 is ToB.

Yes, I have also noticed that. I need the Language25 value to restore relevant missing soundset files.

baldur.ini's "Language" definition doesn't refer to the game language. It's actually the regional setting of your local operating system which is picked up and written to the baldur.ini by the game's installer.

I have the English version of BGII (GOG) and definitely a German OS, but I have the same entry as CamDawg ([Local] Language=English Language25=English) ?

The GOG version might be different. I have tested it with the original disc version of BG2. Setting a different region in Windows changed the language definition in baldur.ini when I reinstalled the game.

I found a workaround: I compare in game stringref #6913 (Necklace) with several tra files to define the game localization.

It works in French and English. Just need to test it with other dialog.tlk files.

And you can't do this in any other way... like asking which language the installer(yes, the person) wants to install the mod with ? Is that not just too obvious ?
How about a player has a Finnish translation and in no matter what you input in that, it's always false. Cause there's no official nor a non-official translation, except the one dinamically created in my brain, in addition, it's also contains my very own dialect&slang.
