Fabios ring is not usable by bards. If you remove it from his finger, you cannot put it back on.

What version of SoBH do you have? This was originally a problem with his kit. I haven't had anyone else mention this in the past couple of versions.
Edit: The item is flagged for only bards to use. However, no kits are listed either besides bard kits. For some reason this causes this item to not work correctly. I remember having this problem with some DSotSC items too. So I just changed it to include all kits. Here is the file, but remember the descriptions will be wrong for you because your install and mine are probably not exactly the same.

I had this problem in version 2.02 - the ring is not usable by Fabio (I was able to equip Eldoth with it though).
