I'm absolutely the pits when it comes to thinking up names. I just can't do it.

Well, I've got this wacky idea bouncing around for a male half-orc fighter, romanceable by females of any race. I can't promise I'll ever get to it, but if I do, I would like a name to use to think of him.

This guy is good. He would have liked to have been a paladin, if he could have been, but, well, his charisma just isn't up to muster, and there's that whole half-orc thing that's holding him back. He also has a bit of trouble following orders, which is frowned upon by Order higher-ups. But he means well, and has a lot of love to give, if you can just look past the tusks.

For those that are following my modding to-do list and watching it grow, this is the general order:
  • Haldamir - he's so close
  • Gavin for BG2
  • (undisclosed project)
  • Thuran - dwarven female cleric and seer - slightly abbreviated NPC, banters and friendship path, no quest
  • Lynneth - romanceable female
  • This guy
Yes, that's a lot. But it never hurts to have a name.

Yeah, coming up with names is a major pain. How about "Ganesh"? It's Indian, after the Hindu god Ganesha. Kind of a fitting name for a good guy with tusks :P

Well if its orcish names of Tolkien or Warhammer style you're looking for, try here for a list of names.

Its pretty reliable, and relevant to the FR setting. :)

The main section of the site also has information that may be helpful, such as links to PDF files for the Orcish language and so on. Just a recommendation, see how it works for ya. ^_^

Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't really going for a Tolkien orcish name. The guy would have been raised by humans, so he'd likely have a human name, just not a pretty one. ;)

You could take it the other way - if it should be a human name, why not search a list of existing human names/etymologies? Sometime, you find something nice there ;)

Or you could find the etymology and history someones first name and take that, it can even work for foreigners and so on as it uses a search functions and more.

Or use my names root: Jeremiah.

Or you could simply give him a name which would relate to his childhood or something, kinda like for a slave it'd be something like: Thrall from WCIII.

If you're looking for a Human raising then the questions arrise, where was he raised. Calimshan would give him a different name than Icewind Dale, Rasheman, The Sword Coast, or Mulhorand.

Zug Zug.

AAAH! That still gets to me everytime I hear it. So annoying.

Thanks. Of all the ideas, though I think I'll probably take Kellen's. Don't get the Zug Zug reference, but that's OK.

I don't want the name to be in orcish, so it was probably not the greatest idea asking about it anyway.

It's a Warcraft thing, Bere. :)

I thought it was Ringo Starr's "Caveman" movie where Zug Zug meant "sex."

If you ever come to write him that would be awesome. I'll take him into the party no matter what his name was. (If I'll come up with a good one I'll post it here.)

"Train Train" is not a good name, I think.
