Drizzt is not stupid (BGT Version)

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=893

This is a conversion of Macready's "Drizzt is not stupid" Mod, done with Ascension64's PCU.
Thanks to Macready for approving to this re-release.

I added a german translation too.

I'm releasing this as is, as I'm no modder and can't really gve any technical support

Quote

While I haven't read the Salvatore books, I know that Drizzt is supposed to be a hero of the Forgotten Realms universe. His brief cameo in Baldur's Gate is intended to enrich the player's experience as he or she adventures in that universe, but all too often players are tempted to rob or murder him for his exceptional equipment. Of course, it is next to impossible that a low-level party would be able to take down such a foe, but with the exploits possible by taking advantage of poor AI (or by outright cheating), it happens a lot. I vividly remember reading the Baldur's Gate forums at SP a long while back, noticing that this was the first stop for many players, and thinking, "if there is one thing I'd like to change about the game, that's it."

It is all too easy to buff Drizzt up to demi-god status (and speaking of that, the BG designers already did that to him to a certain degree), but I hate that sort of thing as well. It annoys me to no end when I see a wizard cast four spells in a single round, or any other similar action which flagrantly violates the laws of the game world as I experience them myself. So, with all that in mind, here are the changes enacted by this mod:

You can't pick-pocket Drizzt. I find it highly unlikely that this exceptional figure could have his prized weapons nabbed right from his hands by some fledgling rogue.

Given the limitations of the game engine, Drizzt is too vulnerable to fight out in the open and by himself. If the player angers him to the point of making him an enemy, he will withdraw in order to choose a more fitting (i.e., less exploitable) arena in which to resolve the conflict.

Although this mod does create the opportunity for Drizzt to reappear at a later time, his role is still restricted to a brief cameo, as was clearly intended. The reappearance is just a relocation of the conflict phase of the encounter with Drizzt, if conflict should arise.

I always felt that Drizzt was a little too quick to jump the gun and kill the player's party, even if provoked. Hence, he now offers a non-violent alternative to the player if the player's party meets the requirements (and most parties will meet them at the stage he reappears).

If you are really spoiling for a fight, you will eventually get one. Please note that Drizzt has been slightly toned down to make him play by the rules -- no more 10 attacks per round and flat-rate 30 point damage bonuses, since I am assuming these aspects of his original incarnation were designed to hasten his gnoll slaughtering. His AI has been improved a bit to compensate, though, so without some luck, about the best you can hope for is to fight him to a stalemate.

And that's it. Very small in scale, virtually nothing in the way of new content...but Drizzt is not stupid any more.

_DRIZZT.CRE and _DRIZZT.BCS are the files patched.
AR7703 is patched to use an area script if it didn't already (the default status), or has its script extended if another mod has already assigned it a script.

As of now, it's not compatible with the BGT version of Drizzt-Saga, or should I say, if Drizzt Saga is installed, it simply wont show any effects, as the original Drizzt at the gnoll encounter will already be swapped out Drizzt-Saga and the second encounter with Drizzt in Baldur's Gate (from Drizzt is not stupid) can't happen.

BG1 Level Cap Reinstator (BLCR) for BGT v1.0

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=891

BLCR is a small mod for Baldur's Gate Trilogy that reinstates the original experience cap of Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast.

After installing this mod, your experience points will initially be limited to 161 000 XP. This limitation only applies to the Baldur's Gate 1 part of the game, and you will be free to advance further after being transitioned to the Baldur's Gate 2 part.

The limitation affects all six party members.

This mod extends the BALDUR.BCS game script to achieve its goal.

Known Issues:
Incorrect experience cap for dual-class characters: instead of limiting the character's total XP, BLCR will limit each class to 161000 XP individually. This only affects dual-class characters and not multi-class characters.

BG: Cast find familiar, and choose any

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=890

This mod is now compatible with BG2:SoA, BG2:ToB, BGTuTu, and BGT.

In-game, when you cast 'Find Familiar' you'll immediately be able to choose which familiar you'd like to summon. Just hover over each of the quick-buttons that open up to learn which to click to summon a given familiar. Your alignment will change for exactly 1 second - so don't worry if you happen to see it. It'll change back!

To install, just unzip the contents into your game folder and use the executable. Tweak will detect what you're running (BG2:SoA, BG2:SoA+ToB, BGTuTu, or BGT) and install accordingly.

Comments welcome. Summoning, placing in inventory and releasing, and all dialogue trees are now all working properly.

PnP Free Action v2

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=888

PnP Free Action

This component ensures Free Action does not cancel or prevent movement bonuses - it only negates penalties such as Hold, Web, Entangle, Grease, stunning, etc. Among other things, this means you can now equip Boots of Speed and the Ring of Free Action to gain the benefits of both, as per PnP descriptions. It also fixes various bugs and inconsistencies related to Free Action, Haste and Slow in both unmodded and modded resources (creatures, items and spells).

Changes in v2 (7 Feb 2010):
- Spell-patching macros will now correctly set the target (typically to whomever the spell is cast upon) regardless of whether mods like Spell Revisions set it incorrectly (fixing a bug in Remove Paralysis when both are installed)
- Description-updating component is now optional
- Patched a few items more recent mods have added
- Added German, Italian, Spanish and Russian translations

Changes in v1 Beta (31 July 2008):
- Creatures cannot be hindered by Free Action spells or items; they can only be helped by them.
- Items and spells with movement bonuses will not be hindered by Free Action spells or items.
- Items and spells that grant movement bonuses display the Haste icon (or Improved Haste if relevant).
- Items and spells with Free Action effects do not hinder movement bonuses and protect against all effects limiting movement.
- Items and spells that apply movement penalties display the Slow icon.
- Items and spells changed so that Haste and Slow icons do not cancel each other. The game engine allows you to be slowed and hasted at the same time. If one state wears off first, you are left with the remaining state, and therefore, the icon should remain as well.
- Relevant item and spell descriptions updated accordingly (Boots of Speed, Ring of Free Action, Potion of Freedom, Remove Paralysis, Free Action, Slow, Haste and Improved Haste).

Baldur's Goth for TuTu v3

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=887

This version supports TuTu, and now comes with Glob!

Baldur's Goth II is a mod which enhances the graphical side of Baldur's Gate, in an attempt to make the game more 'Gothy'. The first version features edited portraits and paperdolls of all NPC's, as well as a new startup screen for both SoA and ToB. Baldur's Goth II has support for Throne of Bhaal, but the expansion is not required.

- 1. NPC Enhancements
This component will add new portraits and change the paperdoll colours for all joinable Bioware NPC's, including Sarevok for ToB, as well as for Jon Irenicus. You can choose to install the portraits or the paperdolls separately, or to combine them. The latter is recommended for full experience.

- 2. New Main Screen Images
This component will change both the SoA and the ToB main screens.

Thanks to Miloch, this should FINALLY work.

Now with a French translation thanks to Le Marquis.

IA-Aurora LOW Fix

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=884

This is a mandatory install for Aurora v4 (aka Aurora "Vista") and a mostly mandatory one for Infinity Animations beta 1 or beta 2. It fixes some some unanticipated issues with so-called "LOW" animations (or polymorphs thereto) crashing your game. Version 2 of the patch uses a more aggressive mode to ensure any possible issues are corrected and logged. Version 3 uses the "aggressive" mode as standard and also excludes legitimate CREs such as bugbears and driders from being patched.

K'aeloree's Unfinished Varia

http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=883

Alright. So, I was looking through some of my old mod folders, and realised there was a bunch of things which would never see the light. For the vast majority of it, that's probably for the best--but I still felt bad thinking that it'd sit there moldering away on my harddrive forever.

In order to rectify that, I've decided to "release" a bunch of things. I use the word "release" extremely lightly, as none of the things in this file constitute anything remotely releasable.

Feel free to download, take a browse around and comment. Keep in mind that a lot of it--especially the stuff in the "old" folder is... well, extremely old, written when I was about 13-14, and is suitably apalling. Some of it may be amusing, though, I hope. I mean, some of those early banters are vomit-worthy, and a lot of the characters are Mary-Sues.

Some of the stuff in the rar includes:

Everything I have on Illyria on my harddrive. Included multiple revisions and versions of dialogue. It's a mess, really. Includes her awesome portrait, by Lady Lesatho.

Everything I have on Arath on my harddrive. Arath was an awesome NPC that Riviera, Deva, SConrad and I never finished. Includes a number of threads, and an awesome portrait by Lady Lesatho.

Drogar, a sort of "example" NPC for those new to coding I don't think I ever finished.

Irenicus Enhancements--a minimod that was supposed to add more interest to the Irenicus dialogues in the game, but I never finished writing. Wouldn't take much to finish really, but I don't have the motivation.

Nephele, a halfway-finished NPC for SoA. Out of everything in this rar, Nephele is my favourite. She's a nosy, overattentive mother. (Nephele might be making an appearance in Classic Adventures in the future, as I've given the team permission to plunder). She's probably my second-favourite character ever done (Arath being first).

Amaunator's Regret quest, written for one of BWL's challenges. Holy shit, this is bad. Might be an entertaining, if overly dramatic and badly structured read.

Some random IEP dialogues that never went anywhere.

Some of the stuff I did for new book images in the game.

aaand Padraig, my first BGII project ever with a guy named Sentinal. Never went anywhere beyond some mucking around.

Hope it provides some entertainment!

If anyone would like to use any of the material in here please feel free to ask. Though, for most of it, I doubt anyone ever will since it's so bad.

DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL ANYTHING. I doubt any of it works.
