This is more of a BG2 basher than anything else, because obviously BG2 magics have nothing on IWD2 magics. I mean, doesn't it seem that IWD2 sunfire is a lot more powerful than BG2 sunfire? Maybe it's just me...and as far as summoning goes, the BG2 demon summons are good, but everything else is crap. I'd like to see that fire elemental take on a frost giant or a remorhaz... And druids, jeez, BG2 druids might as well just lay down and die... One thorn spray from my IWD2 druid would send a BG2 one running. IWD2 healing spells are better also. As far as gameplay (fighting, spells etc.) and powerfulness goes, IWD2 has BG2 under it's foot. But a lack of NPC banter and personality sends everyone running to BG2. Some people don't like IWD2 because the mages don't get sequencers, but think about it: Mordenkainen'd Force Missiles+Chain Lightning+ Soul Eater? That's just a bit much...

IWD2 is all about fighting, but you are right about the spell comparison. It is sort of 2E vs 3.35725 E though from what I read so it cannot be neatly transferred.

If BG2 had that spell system it would be a cakewalk.

yeah, but your opponents would have them too. Try spell 50 from weidu.org, if you are bored. :D

Sounds good...after the 4th time of going through ToB, Irenicus gets pretty boring...

Bah, Irenicus is a pansy. Next time through I'll see if I can't beat him using just Garrick, who I'll cheat into my party. ;)

I dunno... Irenicus is pretty useful as an NPC, I'd say...

In IWD2, magic is incredibly powerful. It's too powerful, actually, even for this magic lover. Around mid-game, no matter what your AC just about anything hits you consistently, so anyone who can't cast a bunch of buffs on herself is at a serious disadvantage. Usually games are tilted against magic users and toward fighters, but in IWD2's case the opposite is true. The power of magic in IWD2 is one thing that makes it a worse game than BG2, which has much better balance.

Yes, I can see your point as it annoys me when everything hits you, no matter what armor and feats you're using. But its nice that mages and sorcs can make it through the game more easily than, say, a fighter (imo).
