take the bam for the slow effect, add it as a new bam to the states(2).bam

Impossible, since Refinements already used up ALL free slots in the state bams.

That I did not know. Fuck. <_<

Hmm. How about adding a "Cast Spell on Self" opcode with a Protection from Specific Icon spell content as a CASTING EFFECT instead of normal effects, this way the protection would be active BEFORE the icon would show up...

I thought of that in the car the other night, and forgot to come back and post it. Try it and let us know if it works. :D

He said that protection from Icon didn't block it though, didn't he?

It might depend on where you put that "Protection..." opcode. If it is added as Casting Effect (don't confuse it with Extended Effects), it will be already applied once the SLow effect is triggered. We'll see.

Unless my memory is wrong, casting effects can only target the spell-caster - so unless the spell is to cause slow on the caster, it wont work.

But if you add a "Cast Spell On Self" opcode as Casting Effect, and that spell is one with an area effect (Slow for example), it is another story, right? ;)

BTW igi, an offtopic question:
could you tell me what the opcode: "Creature Uninterruptible" does? I think it is under Nr.296...

The source of the effect shouldn't make a difference. In either case, the protection from icon effect is active when the slow icon wants to show up. I don't even think the game keeps track of exactly how it was applied. If the protect from icon doesn't stop it, it just won't stop it, no matter how you apply the effect.

Surprising, but their order DOES matter. I really wouldn't want to go into details (this things needs further experiments), but our experiences while messing with all these HLAs over at Refinements makes us to more and more believe that their order is important after all.
