The tutorial area

And I'm kinda confused... it's a good idea and all, but why is this area there? It's kinda tedious to be running these errands and everything; is there some kind of 'greater purpose' served by this area? And how many days are there before I can get on with the normal game again?
Thanks!

Did you read this?
http://www.spellhold...ckthebodies.htm
and click on the "Features" page?
Quest Notes:
* The "tutorial" area of Candlekeep
o This is the very first thing you'll notice about Check the Bodies. It is not an optional quest, and takes quite some time to complete.
o There are four 'chores' that must be completed each day. At the end of the day, if you've completed the chores, of course there's a nice reward for you.
o Once you've finished with the Candlekeep introduction, things will progress back to the normal BG II introduction and you're on your way to becoming a skilled adventurer.

Did you read his post? He's having the same problem I am - it's day 3, and the SCRIBES HAVE DISAPPEARED. We're supposed to get the scribes to make copies of some scrolls, but they're not there. I tried making the scrolls in Shadow Keeper, but apparently it doesn't work - it seems that you need the trigger of the scribes making the scrolls, rather than just having the scrolls to give to whatshisname.Again,

So - how are we supposed to finish this mandatory quest when the scribes needed to finish the quest aren't there? It's rather annoying - no way to advance to the rest of the game.

Yes I did. It still doesn't really enlighten me as to why the area is there. I mean, I get the whole 'vague portendings of imminent doom from a young age' thing that is being established, but it seems like the introduction could be cut down drastically, keeping the important parts and making it much more enjoyable. Of course, I haven't played through the rest of the mod just yet, but that's my initial impression .

Mine too. The Candlekeep section has no place in any mod which aims to be enjoyed.CBisson,

to whoever asked, the scribes can be brought back by going to the top floor and resting once or twice.
