Alright, I need some help with this quest: First of all though I'm going to outline what I've already done so some one can help me, so they'll be some spoilers:

Alright, I obtained the fake crown of thorns via Cromwell after the Elf maid died in Trademeet. That part was straightforward enough (although it took me some time to actually figure out I had to go to cromwell, because there wasn't any real journal clues). Anywho, I go through firkraag's dungeon and I kill the bodyguards that guard the mage dude(they attack me on sight), However, Kahryd (?spelling) stays blue. I talk to him, give him some history on the fake crown that I have, make him pay 160000 gold (heh), and get the real crown of thorns. So he gets all excited and says he's ready to perform the ritual and we should get going, but then nothing happens. I haven't retreived Imoen yet, is this quest only supposed to be accessible after the underdark or what? Or will it just take some time and then I'll go bakc to him and the ritual will start? Any help would be appreciated on this one. Thanks.

Let me ask you folks, how did you get Cromwell to make you the crown?

Possible spoilers in the following narrative...

I've played CtB twice as a mage, v148 and v150. Each time I gathered up the ingredients and asked Cromwell to make the crown. However, I do not have any information regarding what the crown looks like or blueprints for its manufacture. When Cromwell attempts to make the crown he does his usual forge animation and then breaks the dialouge. He greets me like I just walked in the door and I have no valid replies or links.
Have I missed the blueprints ala Crom Fayr? If so where are they? I tore the Library Under the Lake apart assuming there would be the most likely location.
Or is Cromwell supposed to produce the crown without instructions and I am bugged?
Assistance is appreciated.

Are Khaddyr and his mages practicing spell casting? I have interrupted them and they get mad and combat ensues so I don't get the cutscene

No, they are not casting spells. I have found on some french website, that when I enter the 2nd level of Firkraag's dungeone I should hear them starting the ritual. No such thing happened to me. They just stand there and wait for me to start the talk.

And as far as I know the crown can't be destroyed unless mag is dead. No ritual - no deaths, so I cannot continue.

Do a full on assault for the sake of time as I have never done the quest until the end either.

I forced an attack, killed that mag, then I went to Cromwell and now the crown is destroyed. Also quest is done. Don't know what I did wrong, and why the cutscene didn't start. Anyway, it's time to move along.

I have found the problem.
It's a conflict with a tactics module, I think SCS 2.
This module overwrites Khaddyr's default script with BPMAG20A, a tactical spellcasting combat script.
The script you really want to fire is the CBMALINS script.
Instead, Khaddyr gets stuck in the "Do Nothing" if/then, from BPMAG20A

The original scripts for the creature are as follows:

MAGE20A=Override
CBMALR#T=CLASS
WTARSGT=RACE
CBMALINS=GENERAL
CBMALR#S=DEFAULT

There is not a huge difference with BP installed as BP just gives creatures its scripts, so BPMAG20A replaces MAGE20A. SCS 2 will modify whatever scripts are being used with its stuff so that may be where the problem comes in with both installed with CtB.

We can try to rearrange his scripts in a different order.

Hi,

Just a little message to remind everyone that this bug still occurs (BWP 9.10) :woot: .

Are you sure SCSII is the culprit :unsure: ?

[WeiDU.exe] WeiDU version 22900
[WeiDU.exe] Using scripting style "BG2"
override/CBMALR1.CRE
override/CBMALR1.CRE scs/backup/5024/CBMALR1.CRE
override/CBMALR1.CRE scsii/backup/6000/CBMALR1.CRE
override/CBMALR1.CRE scsii/backup/6151/CBMALR1.CRE
override/CBMALR1.CRE xpmod/backup/0/CBMALR1.CRE

Khaddyr

Mods affecting CBMALR1.CRE:
00000: /* from game biffs */ ~SETUP-CTB.TP2~ 2 0 // Check The Bodies: 1.13
00004: ~SETUP-XPMOD.TP2~ 2 0 // Reduction de l xp des creatures -> Reduire a 75%: v6 BWP Fix

If this is true, has anyone tell this to SCSII author :wub: ?

Oups, according to this, it's pretty sure that SCSII is causing the problem...
So, the only question remaining is : has anyone tell this to SCSII author :wub: ?

Edit : there is another question : which mod (CtB or SCSII ?) must change his behavior ?

BTW : I keep a savegame before entering the area if someone wants to try something.

BP adds the script and may be the one removing the original default script. SCSII just replaces the contents of the BPMAG20A script. For issues like this it is much easier to edit the creature file with Near Infinity or DLTCEP and add the CBMALINS.BCS and fix your game locally. You may have to add it for the override script slot or you could just swap it for BPMAG20A otherwise the quest will always be broken.

For me to be able to help at all, I need to know all scripts the creature has assigned and in what slots. I can try to do something in CtB but it will just get overridden again.
