ok i understand that this is an alternate ending for ascension ....but i guess im confused in the fact that i still need to install ascension before this mod or do i even need the ascension mod ..........in other words is this a stand alone mod or does it rely on ascension to play it?

Yes. Kish is right. Redemption is an add-on to the Ascension. So it will not work if you don't have it (ie Ascension) installed. All the new developments are happening inside the Throne of Blood, and you cannot take Jon outside. Basically he is only available after Amellissan calls him from the Abyss.
