I'm still stuck on this one, because entering the area behind the cave still CTD's. Last few days I've been beta-testing the new NeJ, but I'm just curious, Sir BB, have you found/fixed this problem yet, or are you anywhere near this point in your testing?
I've gone through that area and I don't remember a problem. Does it crash during load or when you are moving around the area? If the second, it is a spawn problem like DSC002 and it would only happen when the right combination of creatures are spawned (or not spawned in this case). Give me an idea of the location on the map so I can check the closest spawns. By the way, this is the same map as the werewolf isle. We may fine the solution to that area by fixing this area. Or if already fixed, apply that fix to this area.

I've already done a few reinstalls, I'm going to try again and see what happens.

"tisunpack -f DSC020.TIZ". This will create the TIS file. You can delete the TIZ files when you are finished.

However, I'm still having some difficulties.
Looking through NI, it seems that I am missing the following .bcs files:
DSC003
DSC011 through DSC015
DSC019 through DSC037
DSC099
And this is probably why I am crashing shortly after DSC031 loads.
I've re-downloaded the files, I've reinstalled...help?
Also, I'm meeting Black Talon mercenaries in the areas borrowed from the Cloakwood Mines. And the drow aren't going hostile (except for a weapons master and a priestess). They do talk; they seem to think that I'm a drow and that Jarlaxle is around somewhere, so I'm guessing they're acting on TDD drow scripts and dialogue.
And the duerger are dropping a hell of a lot of saleable items...is this intentional?

And you may want to put a flag on the areas one can reaccess the surface after this quest, so that drow items are properly disposed of.

I haven't added the SOA script looking for drow items yet.
Drow are fixed, I had used CRE files from SOA but the drow were Neutral instead of Hostile.
The duergar drop whatever their TOB equiv had. I can scale it down but I didn't add anything to them (that I remember).
There won't be an area script for every area. I built the links to a script in case I needed it. Most area creatures are handled by spawns so I didn't need to build the scripts, but the links are still there.

Whatever the problem is with DSC031, it's not intrinsic to the level as a whole. The game crashes shortly after entering from either DSC030 or DSC032. However, from DSC033, one can progress a good way in, hacking one's way through duergar and drow, before the game crashes.
Area DSC031 had some garbage text assigned to a trap. I think that fixed the problem you are having since I have gone through there twice now without a problem. Just reinstalled everything and that area is still working fine (and the drow actually attack).
