Hello all;

Well, here I go again. I'm starting to feel like an albatross with my seemingly never-ending problems and requests for help. Not how I like to do things, but there it is.

I am finding that when I attempt to enter Chapter 2 I get a crash to desktop. It occurs during the movie showing Imoen and Irenicus being interrogated by the Cowled Wizards. It seems, sadly, to be a completely replicable flaw.

I really think I checked this forum pretty thorougly and found no headings on this topic, so, I post here. If someone can tell me how to get around this I would appreciate it. I am reasonably sure it should be possible to disable the movie somehow, and hopefully the movie could even be fixed.

Thanks for any help,

Dennis

Well, I just tried creating a new character, playing through Chateau Irenicus as fast as I could, going out into Waukeen's Promenade, and making a beeline for the exit to get into chapter two.

Once more it crashes to desktop when the animated scene involving Irenicus and Imoen being talked to by Cowled Wizards occurs.

This makes it seem fairly clear that it is not a game specific file, but rather some other file connected with the animation which has been corrupted. I am not sure what the relevant files are, how to disable them, or where to get replacements. Any information on this would be appreciated.

Well, this just gets weirder.

I tried altering my various game settings.

Now, if I load up one save game file, it plays through and I enter into chapter 2. If I load up the other save game file, it crashes to the desktop.

I will try tinkering with my settings further and see if that helps, but now I wonder if it isn't some feature specific to the first save game file.

Anyways, I'll keep playing around and will report back if anything of interest happens.

Well, I turned my video settings to their lowest levels, activated 3d animation, shut off all background programs, and gave it a try.

It worked. It allowed my main game to continue through the opening chapter 2 cut-scene animation. Now that I am in Chapter 2 I am putting the settings back to where they were and continuing on from there.

Not quite sure which part of the voodoo magic worked, but as long as it did work I'm okay to go on.
