Hello,

I have the following question:

Due to a mainboard crash i had to reformat my C: partition and install windows XP and BG 2 again, because i cannot start it from my old installation because it complains about some error.

So i installed everything as it was before in a different folder:

BG SOA
BG TOB
BP
SOS
TDD
TS
CTB
Tashia
Ruad
Redemption
FR-ROV

and i copied the old savegames into my ne installation and started BG and loaded my old savegames.
Everything works out fine but NOT the Tashia romance. Everytime i talk to her i get her first reply from trademeet, where i first picked her up.
I really want to continue the romance where left it before my Mainboard crashed, which is already some point into SOA.

Is there any way to copy some file which contains the old already spoken dialogue or triggers or whatever from my old installation to my new installation to continue the romance where i left it ????

Thanks in advance,
L.

Normally all variables are stored into the saved game. Therefore, loading a previous game should get you to the same point you were at before. Rebuilding the game should not be a factor. Her variables must be stored some other way. Anyone have a clue?

Local variables are stored on the character. Copy all the relevant globals from the gam file, and the PC's and Tashia's local variables to rebuild the game. (That and jump to the points on the worldmap or modify the worldmap directly to get the correct areas revealed. )

If you're completely unfamiliar with using an editor like Near Infinity (which I'd use for this one) you'd likely do well to just start a new game, console yourself where you need to be via ctrl+J, ctrl+y'ing the baddies, and manually setting your XP, etc... You can get through a whole game in this method in an hour or two, so less time will get you to the point you were at in your old game.
If you insist on doing it the editor method, then open your old savegame in the editor, and then the character in question. Copy over the locals to the same character in the new game.

Well after checking thoroughly on this, i believe it hasn`t got anything to do with the variables for this romance, cause if i talk to tashia than i always get the same sentence: "Oh hello Derek moonblade, do you think you can take me on your journey....... " but the answers i can give are much further on in the romance.....
I don`t know if this helps though

and another thing:

I still have my old installation. If i run BGmain on it, then i get the following error message:
" An Assertion failed in CHdimm.cpp at line number 628
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF: data\Hd0GMosc.bif "

Does anyone know what that means ???
Maybe i can copy some files from the new fresh installation into the old one so that i can start BG from the old installation ....

Anyone has any ideas ???

Thanks in advance,
L.
