ok this might seem newb to yall but i downloaded some kit conversion ( whatever you call it ) its supose to give me the class shadow knight and stuff . ok here is my prob they told me to get the infinity engine editor now MAN did i look around for that damn program . i even downloaded all kinds of shit with the infinity name in it and still no luck lol
so if anyone can tell me were to get it or how to get my kits installed plzzz do so

thx in advance to all wo will anser me

peace out

ps here is were they lost me bad its pasted exactly whats in the reed me

Now what you'll need to do is open up Infinity Engine Editor and bring up its TLK Editor.

First, set it ti "Write" and enter your kit's name and nothing more. Then click the Write button. It will give you a number. In Kitlist.2da, replace the first two numbers beside your kit with this new number. Now you need to enter the kit description. My kits always come with a kit description in TXT file format so you can just copy and paste into the TLK editor. When it spits out a number at you, replace the 3rd one with this new number. (If the kit you are installing doesn't come with a description, just use one of the numbers from another kit for this column)

*Note by Gyzer: In my kits these will be replaced with an asterisk (*). If you do not see these numbers for the kit you just downloaded, do look for some sort of other place holder.

Two things:

One, this isn't the place to post this. This should be in the BG I-II forum, not General Rev. Read the forum titles.

Two, try to use better grammar/spelling/less chatspeak. People are more likely to help you if you do.

Go to the infinity engine help forum and the tutorial forum and read the tutorials, they will list programs.

You will need Wiedu, Near Infinity, and maybe Shadow Keeper. Infinity Engine editing is dificult at first, and it doesn't sound like you know what you're doing, but I encourage you to make the attempt. :) You'll find it fun, after a while.

You can find these programs with google.

As for "Infinity Engine Editor," i'm not sure if i've heard of a specific program titled that. Where did you find this tutorial thing? And what are you trying to do? Make a class kit?

Are you trying to download a kit, or make your own? If the latter, it is far easier to do it with WeiDU, or manually edit the .2da files with DLTCEP. Specifically in WeiDU, find the file mymod.tp2 and scroll down to where it talks about kits. Any further problems, come back :).

EDIT: Btw this post should have been posted in Infinity Engine Help Forums. Never mind <_< .

You will need Wiedu, Near Infinity, and maybe Shadow Keeper.

Please don't use Shadowkeeper for anything but your savegames.

You can find these programs with google.

Or better yet, check the tool-topic pinned in this forum.

As for "Infinity Engine Editor," i'm not sure if i've heard of a specific program titled that.

He's talking about Infinity Engine Editor Pro (IEEP). Please use NI or DLTCEP instead. :)

The kit-making docs included with WeiDU cover the basics; I'd recommend this as the definitive kit-making tutorial.

Why is this Hypnotoad video so popu... ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD.

Actually, SConrad, once you've created a creature using DLTCEP or whatnot, using ShadowKeeper to refine it is a snap. You can easily assign items you don't know the codes for, and change a bajillion other things that are easier to do in SK.

Oh, and try CamDawg's tutorial. It is indeed definitive. :D

I don't recommend it. I just like to use it for "touching up" NPCs. I can't find anything wrong with using it for that.

Lets draw the line at personal choice lads. Overlapping opinions is fine, arguing over them can be done elsewhere.

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Still a cyberjock, still hacking the matrix, still unsure of what that means.

Does SK mess something up? If so, can you stop beating around the bush and tell me what is so wrong with using it?

Yes, Shadowkeeper can potentially mess things up. There is a lot of information in a .cre-file which SK doesn't know or doesn't care about. I've had more than one screwup with SK in my time.

Just trying to prevent mistakes from being made and frustrasion from being expressed, Seif.

Don't stop using it because it bugs us. Stop using it because you will benefit from it, and save yourself a lot of trouble.

I use SK as one step in creating NPCs. It's easy, and I've never had it mess anything up yet. On the other hand, I've found NI to be seriously painful for creating anything. SK and DLTCEP (mostly the latter) for creation, NI for checking stuff.

Use what you have found works for you.

Again, I use both SK and DLTCEP. DLTCEP to make the NPC.

Once it's made, I refine it with SK. SK may not be able to edit/change all the aspects of the NPC, but it doesn't mess 'em up either.

If you use DLTCEP first, you'll have no problems.

And NI is painful for creating anything, true. It makes finding States for interjections easy, though.

NI also is great for searching (finding references to files and such) and for finding offsets.
