Lol, sorry that was just me.

"I only installed the latest patch and baldurdash on my default backup map. I reaaaally hope there isn't some incompatibility with baldurdash because I don't like to install BGII over again..."

I already asked if the Baldurdash was the problem :) .
I always keep a backup of BGII in a folder but that backup (which I use for every new game) has the official patch AND Baldurdash..
But Baldurdash is the problem then?

Got nothing to say..

I don't know if it's baldurdash... but I think it's strange.

the only thing I can say is that 3 guys who haven't baldurdash installed have no crash.

a question... before to install rtt have you at least created a soa game with that backup copy of bg2?

if the answer is no the game should crash after the creation of the character... maybe you have the crash after

try to do this:

run the file "Ripristino SoA e ToB" (Restore SoA and ToB) and wait the end.
now your original soa and tob is restored, run it and create a new soa game.
wait until you see Irenicus and after close the game.
now run the file "Ripristino RTT" (Restore RTT), and you will have again my tc installed.
try to create a new rtt game and see if there is still the crash.

sorry for this trouble. the ita version of rtt have been download by about 300 guys and this is the first time I read about a worldmap travel crash.

Lol, sorry that was just me.

I've just tried to play to rtt with baldurdash installed and there is no crash... so baldurdash isn't the problem

Ehm sorry.. If I do that whole the game doesn't work again.
If I got time I'll try a new game sometime.
But the holiday is ending and I still have got homework to do..
Maybe it's just a bad install. I don't know..

Two things:

1-What language was the mod originally written in?
2-I was a professional software tester for a while, and I'd be happy to give it a go.

1- in italian

2- thanks! :) I'll send you a pm with the instruction to install the tc.

I was forgetting, have you tried to use the cluaconsole to move to the area, look?

I mean, have you tried:

MoveToArea("MD1500")

?

another thing... could you see if in your override folder there is the file md1500.tis?

maybe there could be a problem during the install and so there wasn't the tiz2tis conversion.

I tried to CLUA already yes and you may have found the problem here.
The only .tis in my override is ar0072.tis.
So my guess is that the tiz2tis conversion didn't take place.

well! at least now we found the problem!

however this is very strange... have you see the dos windows during the install?

maybe you have closed the install before it finish.

this is what the install does:

1- the files of the tc (with the tiz file) are copied in a folder "rttinst"
-- now the dos windows start --
2- the original files of bg2 are copied in a back up folder "origbckup"
3- the tc files are copied in the main folder of bg2
4- there is the conversion tiz2tis

if the game starts in trademeet this means the points 1-2-3 are ok.

to solve the problem, to convert the tiz file and so to play to rtt download this:

http://rtt.altervist...tiz2tiscorr.bat

in the bg2 main folder (BGII -SOA) and run it.

it will convert the tiz files into tis and it will delete the tizs.

Gotta dissapoint you again.
Didn't work either.
But I still have to try that reinstall.
I'll watch for the conversion this time and if it doesn't happen I'll run the command .bat -file you gave me here.
I'll chime back in when I'm finished!

The problem is that if a tileset is in the override, then the engine is lazy and won't uncompress the bifs. When i ran into a crasher, I manually uncompressed a few bifs and put them in <bg2>/data and modified my CD locations to also point there (you can have multiple locations separated by ; )

Another reason why the uncompression doesn't happen could be a missing cachvald.2da entry? This is just an idea, i didn't really test.

nope avenger.

the problem isn't bg2 editing but it's the setup.

all the tiz files are in the override. after their copy there is a baf file that convert tiz2tis... the point 4:

*** 4- there is the conversion tiz2tis ***

for a strange reason during their install the tiz file haven't been converted to tis file and so it's inevitable a game crash if there isn't the tis file of that area.

the fact is that version of the setup is the same the italian guys download and it works. the italian2english pacth change only the tlk files and update some itm, spl, etc file.

probably look and the guest closed unintentionally the setup before the end or maybe something installed on their pc block the baf file (?).

I don't want to be repetitive but a lot of guy installed rtt without problem, for example the fw user bigrob

however here you can see all the windows there are during the setup. look, have you seen the windows with:

"start /w tisunpack.exe -o override override/mdXXXX.tiz"

?

Sorry. But my cookies keep getting deleted I guess. So I forget to log in every time. But all the 'guests' have been me in this topic :) .

To be honest, I read whole your doc and just did what I was supposed to.
However I never monitor an installation so that the assumption that it might have gone wrong there can be correct. However when I ran that bat file of yours it still didn't work. I still have to try that full reinstall however so it can still be my comp!

it's a relief to know the guest was you! this means your problem is isolated. :)

try to install again rtt and see if there is a window with "start /w tisunpack.exe -o override override/mdXXXX.tiz". I wait news... :)
