the title says it all. I am very happy about the transistion having worked out, but if it can be fixed easily, I'd like to change the annoying BG1 sounds to the BG2 sounds.

I remember the Imoen BG2 sounds being bugged in some BGT version, is that the reason why the BG1 sounds were kept? Or might replacing some .wav files help?

Other than that, which items am I allowed to cheat in when I start a new (BG2) game and modify the characters to what I currently have?

As far as I remember, BGT allows you to keep Imoen as you made her progress in BG1 (meaning keeping her as a pure thief if you did not dual class her yourself). That implies keeping the same character as in BG1, including the sound files. So basically, this is not a bug, but a consequence of this choice.
You can change the sounds by either renaming the BG2 sound files to match Imoen sound files from BG1 as BGT called them. Otherwise, you could also edit your save game with Near Infinity and change the sound references to those of Imoen in BG2.
Even in the first case, you'll probably have to use Near Infinity to identify the name of sound files in BGT and to extract the Imoen sound files for BG2 before renaming them (alternatively you may be able to download these files from File Planet or another site too).

I believe that there's scripting in place to change all the NPCs after moving to BG2 to their newer soundsets. I definately recall this somewhere in the conversion...
