Hey guys! Happy Halloween, Merry XMas, Happy New Years--and any other holidays I missed here. Sorry I haven't been around for so long, but between RL and my NWN mega-mod, me schedule has been mostly booked up.

The NWN mod is nearing completion, and before I take on a new project for that--I'd like to come back to BP for a bit. Yes, check your ears & eyes--no BS. I see a lot has happened in my absence--special thanks to Hlid and Seanas for carrying the torch.

I've got some plans for a BP mod, but I'll need a crew to pull it off with style. Namely, an artist--perhaps some others to help mod, it would be a new experience to actually have a team doing things. More details as they unfold--artist, please get in touch with me!

Nice to hear you're alive and well.

Congrats on the NWN thing, and when will we get to see that?

I look forward to seeing what you do with the Big Picture next.

When you say artists, what type of graphics do you need? Items, portraits, GuI, areas?

I second that question about what graphics. I've never done graphics for Baldur's Gate before, but I'm willing to try ^_^;;;

Great, glad to see there is some interest! :D

In answer to the questions:

Artist-wise, I'm thinking, mainly, new areas. Perhaps other forms of graphics will come into play as the mod progresses. A custom animation or 3 would be "the whip", but I know that is pushing things. New area maps are of the utmost importance.

As far as the NWN project goes; it is another remake of the old Nordock mod. I released one on the Vault a couple months ago, which is CEP compatible. My current one, that I am finishing up, is CEP-PRC compatible. Uses the in-game character creator for the 50 or so new races and 100 or so new classes (plus 1000's of new feats and spells--PRC is quite the package!). Uses a highly augmented version of the CNR crafting system. Up to +6 armor and weapons can be crafted (with several other abilities). Robes, cloaks, even boots, wands, powerful potions and monk gloves. Includes a full set of CNR-craftable furniture for your persistent player houses. Persistent banking, including loans, interest rates, and investment brokers. CPV player merchants (they sell your stuff for you, if you hire them--you can even move them to the heavy trafiic sector of your choice!). My own wandering monster system. CEP creatures implemented into the encounter spawns. Hunger, thirst and fatigue--supported by hunting, fishing, and food-crafting. Will have almost 600 total areas to explore, including about 100 from Leutian Kane's Nordock (we did some file-swapping recently, for our mutual benefit) and several of my own. Includes an epic mega quest that is sure to mop your butt up from the floor!
All supported for a MySQL 4.0 database.

Expected to be finished, and released, within the next two weeks. Shortly thereafter, I'd like to get started on the BG2 mod. SPOILER ALERT!!

Modders/artists with at least a casual knowledge of the Drow series by Gary Gygax a big plus. I'm thinking along the lines of a PnP remake. :whistling: Maybe we can round things off with a custom adventure, involving that arch-villian Horred the Plague and his father Orcus, in the ToB portion of the game--just for kicks. Updated drow would be very helpful. Might make DSotSC even harder. I have some plans for more drow but I wasn't planning to change their stats or anything. Sounds like an intriguing idea though.

Rawk out. I always prefered the series of modules with the giants that proceeded the drow adventure. Used to have them in PDF fomat till I lost my hardrive once. For those of you who do not know, the drow make their first appearance in the third module of that series.

Never got around to playing the drow ones, so that give me something to look forawrd to!

The giant series was my favorite set of modules as well. I still have the original set from the early 80's. If I thought there was a way to integrate them into the plot of BG2, I would most definitely undertake the enterprise. If anyone has a viable idea on how to do this, please elaborate.

As I see it, the only one that would really fit in (in its entirety) from the drow series is D2, Shrine of the Kuo Toa. That is the one I wish to target for my new mod. The actual Drow city will be moved further down, after a series of new areas. A drow outpost could be used to replace it on the current UD map.

I was just looking my copy of G1-2-3. This was when Drow males could still be clerics to Lolth and equal to females. :) Why not start it in ToB, a spine-off of Yaga-Shera? The first part would be easy, but someone like Horred I am sure could think of something to make it challenging. As part of that you find another why into the underdeep. And use some long narrow tunnels with one major encounter/challenge per map to get the feeling of going very deep. Almost into a disconected world, from the one above.

It is wonderful news to here that you're making traction again. I dm'ed the Drow series back in 1980 and have a PDF copy of the Drow series. My original copies went the way of all thing material in my transition from college to real life, very many moons ago. We have no fate but the fate we are given . . . I've just recently acquired a new set of 2nd Ed. books and the Al-Qadim materials, and have started dm'ing a new campaign. Don't know how I could help, but I'd be willing to try.

Haven't seen those modules :/ so I'll need some area descriptions sent my way somehow. Closest I've come is playing City of the Spider Queen (3rd edition), I guess.
