I'd like to know where to find some FR lore on the internet. Specifically about famous characters, famous items, gods and geography, but not monsters or spells. Don't suggest books, because nothing D&D is sold in my country.
Thanks for your time. Hope this hasn't been posted yet.

You can download many old 2nd edition FR sourcebooks on this page at Wizards.com. If you're looking to make an add-on for BG2, I especially recommend Lands of Intrigue.

There's also a lot of good stuff on Candlekeep.com, and index of FR-related stuff on the 'net at Virtual Fantasy.

Thanks alot. I wouldn't code a BG2 Lands of Intrigue though since it's already under development and the description sounds impressive. Keep up the good work, as they say. ;)

Also, take a look in the Online Monstruous Manuals thread. You will find a lot of very useful links. ;)

If you are intrested in famous characters you can try RA Salvatore's books with Drizzt Do'Urden (16 total). You can also try Ed Greenwood's books with Elminster.
Hope it helps :thumb: .

RA Salvatore? the same who wrote some Star Wars novels...hmm, maybe Drizzt's novels are not as bad as the long-criticized BG novels after all (I'm still looking forward to read them) ;) . But I'll have to look for them somewhere else than on Net. Still thanks.

Candlekeep is excellent.

Other interesting places:
- FR Portal
- The Recountal
- Deities of Faerūn
- Dlabraddath
- Grand History of the Realms
- Stars and constellations
- RPGHoard
- King`s Tears
- Project Silverymoon
- Kencyclopedia -- even though it`s only kenders, might still be useful
- Tash`s AD&D page
- Yet another FR webpage
- The Grey Company
- Defrag`s Realms
- Raflar`s D&D Resources

I hope this small list helps in a way. :)

Yup, eveyone should read Salvatores books. Especially Dark Elf trilogy. We played quite a number of Drow adventures after that. It was a nice change.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. ;)

The writing just seems very formulaic and predictable. The characters are almost always 2D, and their actions are predictable. Drizzt gets even more badass every book, which is also quite predictable.

To be honest I've only read about 9 or 10 of the Drizzt books, so I can't comment on the later ones. I just know that reading them became so painful that I had to stop, even though I hate quitting in the middle of a series.

Odd that every novel he writes ends up on the New York Times bestseller list, isn't it? :P

I quite liked the Paths of Darkness trilogy.

Look at the top ten bands for this year. Now, try and argue that popularity = skill. ;)

HATERZ!!!11!#@1

Actually I`m sure I`d say the same if I had the possibility to read fantasy novels as much as you guys read.

BUT, until then, Drizzt owns.

The top ten bestsellers is often composes of diet books, self-help books, and polical hackery books. STupid people read books too. :)
