Um, actually it should.
While I can't answer your question, I'm positive one of the others can.

I know, I know...

Put this in bg2's main directory and then try to reinstall.

If it doesn't work, post the contents of your file {bg2}\SETUP-REFINEMENTS.DEBUG, instead of posting an image. That contains more info than an image (like the item it crashed on) and is smaller to the modem :)

I've just downloaded the v2 refinements, plus the amended TP2 file. I have BG2 SOA+TOB + official patch + baldurdash fixpack + a large number of WEIDU packaged mods. I've just installed the refinements HLA abilities. Unfortunately, I get some PARSE errors in the celestials section, plus a number of lines like:

BIFF may be in hard-drive CD-path...

and

Not copying [SCRL8E.ITM] to [override/SCRL8E.ITM] because condition evaluates to 0

and I don't know whether these are good/bad/expected.

I've tried attached the debug file which is 528 kb in size (35 kb zipped) but I get a message saying it's either to big or the zip extension is unacceptable. Perhaps I can e-mail it to one of you?

I will try some Shadowkeeper modified characters with large experience to see what effect these PARSE errors etc. have had. Hopefully not much, as I really like the look of Refinements. Thanks.

I fixed it by just reinstalling the game and then installing the mod first.

Don't you have a full install?

Not copying [SCRL8E.ITM] to [override/SCRL8E.ITM] because condition evaluates to 0

Just a WeiDU log. Nothing wrong with that.
On the other hand, if you get PARSE errors you might be missing some entries in your IDS files.. please, do try again to attach only some text regarding PARSE errors, if you don't mind :)

I fixed it by just reinstalling the game and then installing the mod first.

I see why it worked (some other mod of yours had improved scripts for summoned critters, and our first version of the tp2 handled those uncorrectly), but Refinements is better installed last, or "as last as possible" ;)
If you can, it's better to try again with the_bigg's corrected tp2 (now, if some collegue of mine would test the things he does, now and then :P :P :P)

EDIT:

I've tried attached the debug file which is 528 kb in size (35 kb zipped) but I get a message saying it's either to big or the zip extension is unacceptable.

Hm, just change the extension of the zip file. I'll grab it, and rename it back to *.zip :)
Should work fine.

Ok, let me quote our documentation:

#2: The scripts will be slightly more efficient if you have Detectable Spells installed.
(to avoid problems with the several existing versions provided by other mods, we don't include them ourselves)

I believe you just faced this circumstance: despite the number of mods installed, you miss Detectable Spells, so not all blocks can be parsed.
The scripts will work nonetheless, they'll be just a little less good.
Unless I missed something, the_bigg should confirm
Oh, and don't mind the note about BIFFs, it's just WeiDU "speaking to itself" ;)

Summarizing, your installation should be fine :)

Thanks for the replies.

Detectable Spells (v1.2.4) is the mod by Cirerrek?

So if I install this, then re-install refinements, the parse errors will go?

I had a CLASS.IDS file in my override directory that changed the second 202 value LONG_BOW to MAGE_ALL, which caused parse errors during installation with the celestials. It might have been a Baldurdash fix, as the "Fixed IDS Files For Scripting" section explicitly mentions it or a mod that utilizes that fix. When I changed the duplicate 202 entry to LONG_BOW, the installation went smoothy. Just a heads-up for the developers of the mod.

I kind of see what you're saying.

The parse errors in the debug file are:

[Refinements\Hlab\_celestials\_scripts/DEVAEVIL.BAF] PARSE ERROR at line 83 column 43-43
Near Text: )
[Class] argument [LONG_BOW] not found in [Class.IDS]

and in my override directory, the class.ids does have two entries:

202 MAGE_ALL
202 MAGE_ALL

and no entry for LONG_BOW.

Is changing one of the 202 entries enough though - I mean should the CLASS.IDS include other changes for the Refinements mod?

I decompiled in an environment containing LONG_BOW, that's the problem <_<

2nd tp2 update ahead! :(

Thanks for the latest TP2 file - no more PARSE errors - refinements installed smoothly. (There were some errors with detectable spells which I installed last night, but these are for another forum I guess).

I'm looking forward to the high levels.

Something that may want to be considered is including a copy of detectable spells with the Refinments package. oversight does exactly this, and the installer can always check to see if the Detectable spells package is installed already. It'd save a large number of bug reports.

I just made a version of WeiDU, patch-rific Detectable Spells--I sent it to Cirerrek for a new release of DS, though you're more than welcome to use it in the meantime.

Why is this Hypnotoad video so popu... ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD.
